Kobe, how he used his Dark Emotions to push himself & his team to win

Kobe Bryant was known for his intense fire and competitiveness that helped him win more championships than most anyone. He called it his Dark Emotions. Listen in as he shares how he used his EQ -- his passion, power, and purpose -- to win.
"If I'm going to go down, I'm going to go down my way. This team is going to have my personality, my grit, my fight, my will, my competitive spirit."
"Using my darker emotions -- the anger, the resentment or frustration... the sadness -- using that as a weapon, using that as a form of offense. The scars, the pain, the bad memories. Some people are afraid to touch that side of them, but it's such a powerful thing. Once they own it, themselves, then the sky's the limit... because they are going to drive themselves, pull it from who they are and all of their life experiences, the things that are motivating them."
"Driving... needling... pushing."
"I can carry that with me."
"I can win."
~ Kobe

What Kobe is referring to here is actually rooted in psychology - the process is called integrating your shadow. If you're interested, check out Carl Jung's work on this topic.

First time I watched Muse on Hulu I cried. I finally found somebody able to convey my real thoughts into words that other highly advanced and elevated functioning beings understand. It’s like I finally felt that somebody understood how I felt, the real raw human feelings and emotion behind it while also understanding psychology down to the smallest detail while also just living life and having fun while doing it. I remember growing up as a kid I knew I was different and I had it, there would be times I felt way more advanced than others even when I watched professional athletes on TV... and then one day I saw Kobe... it’s like I saw God disguised as a human. The way he moved, so calm, yet so precise and present in the moment. Always doing the right thing.... one reason I still have the utmost respect for Kobe is because I still have yet to meet somebody as inspirational, unique, and highly intellectual while simultaneously being extremely athletic at the same time.... it’s like Wilt Chamberlain. The man was just centuries ahead of his time, always looking towards the future and the next move and then on the extremely rare occasion when he did lose, he’d replay that situation in his head as to how he would win it. If I was granted one wish I would wish to meet my idol Kobe Bean Bryant and formulate an eternal brothership with this man because he is the true definition of one of one. It’s like being a ninja... the dude has an unlimited arsenal of weapons but he’s also so calm and can be at peace at the same time. It’s phenomenal. Michael Jordan comes extremely close, but Kobe was able to convey thoughts and words more clearly and did more post career in terms of interviews/ sharing knowledge. It’s amazing... I still go back and I watch old videos of Kobe because I always find some new hidden gem/ brings me back to that fun kid like being with an extreme joy and eagerness to go do and accomplish things. The real true thrill of life

@dwightgeniston7714
@dwightgeniston7714 3 года назад
you've simply misunderstood him. try reading carl jung and you'll begin to understand what he's trying to say. professing your catholic faith doesn't exempt you for dealing with your own demons and darkness. it challenges you to face your own demons and harness its power for a greater purpose. thats the complexity of humans that most religious people dont understand. they just follow what the priest is telling them which is opposite of what the catholic faith is supposed to be about. jesus even had to battle his own demons in order to transcend and fulfill his mission.

How could he be so strong, positive, yet be so weak, wrong, in some instances? Frankly I believe maybe he wasn't/isn't the only one at fault. Sadly I also believe on the day he told Vanessa, he wanted his parents present at his induction into the Hall of Fame, he was extending an olive branch. Sadly he trusted her to carry out his wish, like I said he wasn't the only one. I wonder why he didn't call, text, write, his parents or sisters to let them know? Only conclusion I can think of he thought he had more time.

Man is appointed to die once, and after that to face judgment, Hebrews 9:27 BSB But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 BSB For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 BSB Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 BSB Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. John 3:5 BSB For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. Romans 8:14 BSB Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life. Whoever rejects the Son will not see life. Instead, the wrath of God remains on him. John 3:36 BSB Do not be deceived: God is not to be mocked. Whatever a man sows, he will reap in return. Galatians 6:7 BSB If we deliberately go on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins remains, Hebrews 10:26 BSB Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it. Matthew 7:13-14 BSB Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12 BSB No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him. 1 Corinthians 2:9 BSB And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
