Such a fun ride tagging along on your Yashica Electro 35 GT adventure! Loved seeing you test out that expired film and hearing your thoughts on the camera's quirks.

great video. One thing to tell people who may see one in a shop...pull the film advance lever and if the camera makes a soft "thunk" or "knock" sound mid-wind--then the camera is good. If the camera does not make a soft "thunk" when winding, then it is irreparably broken.

@@madicfilmsociety101 Mark Hama in Marietta, GA taught me that when I took a recent acquisition to him for repair. Mark spent decades building these cameras in Japan and bought out Yashica USA's parts when he moved to America. Not sure if he's still working, but he's the most knowledgable person regarding these and the Yashicamat 124 twin-lens cameras. Instead of fixing my camera, he sold me a new old stock Electro G with upgraded parts. I've only ever put one roll through it:)

That is incorrect. Absence of the "thunk"' is indicative of a deteriorated 'pad of death'. Definately not irreparable. Very doable, even for a non camera technician, such as myself :). I've got two of these Electros. Recently replaced the pad on one of them. Works like a charm now.
