It brings back memories..... 12 years ago on my first trip to Thailand they used to let 40 people per night stay over and party and sleep on the beach in Maya Bay......that night there was a huge thunderstorm at 10.30pm for 30 min......followed by clear sky's full of stars........totally amazing. I was so blessed that night.

Two things: 1) always travel with a roll-up bag for your electronics & passport and 2) if those waves really were intimidating to you, please find someone to show you how to deal with that situation. You did a great job in respecting the sea, but you can go through/over much higher surf in one of those kayaks. Keep up the awesome work!

I visited Maya beach in 2008 and it was as your photo showed. Horrendous. Everywhere I pointed my camera there was more people than beach so to speak. You are extremely lucky for that experience and it’s so good that they now care about rejuvenating the area 👍❤️ 🏝

I've been in Koh phi phi in January 2018. It was one of my favorite place in Thailand! It was way more crowded obviously but still is one of my favorite places on earth! What a chance you have being there Paddy! Enjoy!! Cheers mate!

I genuinely really enjoy these videos you do, you seem to travel the exact way I like to travel. Wow! The reason we didn't go to Phi Phi was the crowds. So glad to see Maya returning to it's former beauty!! I feel like mailing you a wet bag. I cried when the bag got trashed! Silly paddy. So anxious to get sunset in a kayak that he forgets the tide comes in at sunset.

In the 80's you could walk easily from one beach directly to the one behind . Just a 100 meters or so! Now the local people have fenced off and built on most of this lovely place! The greed has killed it!

One of the best videos of the trip. Thrill, adventure, suspense and some exotic locations. Paddy you really are lucky to be travelling during these times and Experiencing sights and sounds and nature that had been spoilt by throngs of tourists. PS: I had suggested in one of the earlier videos about meeting the locals. The interactions made it more interesting for me as a viewer. Great going Incredible 👍

Thanks a lot Paddy for sharing this vid! Brought back so many good memories as Phi phi used to be my favourite place in Thailand pre Tsunami. I remember having fun playing football on the beach with the locals when the tide was out at the end of the afternoon. The Italian owner of the Ciao Bella restaurant would also play with us. Pity it's become so over developed but I'm envious that you were able to enjoy during these Covid times. Keep up the good work 👍👍👍

Unless you have already replaced the batteries or someone else has already said. You should be able to get an abrasive substance like sand paper and clean the green bits off the battery terminals and they should then work. But either way keep up the great work 😀😀

i´ve been there 1989. The sight at 12:30 was no hat or house there at all. there was 5 simple bungalows on the beach. It changed alot. today there are luxus bungalows there with fridge and aircon. costs about 10 times what it cost in 89

I’m in Ko Phi Phi right now. I definitely recommend staying at Phi Phi Sunset Bay Resort. The bungalows have the most amazing view and it’s more remote! Wish I could stay longer. 😢 Another thing I loved about Ko Phi Phi are all the cats! I love cats and miss mine at home! ❤

The island is a National Park. We used to just throw our tents on the Beach. First visit was back in 1988. Had a Kid that worked for me on his 18th birthday his parents got him an airplane ticket to Thailand. He had $1000 USD. He stayed for Four months, purchased a Honda Dream like yours for $400. He lived on $2.00 a day!! The year was around 2001. Your Kayak fiasco had me in stitches I was laughing my ass off so hard my wife came in the room to see if I was all right classic entertainment sorry to hear about your batteries.. I try to go kayaking every morning I had three dogs in the kayak with me this morning that swam out to join me.

Should buy some water resistant bag Paddy and put all your gears in its. Everything will fine I also did kayaking with my wife near the main pier. Kayak flip over and I step on sea urchin, ough!

Paddy get yourself a light weight dry bag to protect you electronics , travel documents etc for days when you are travelling around water, really wet boat rides or when its raining. I alway travel with one which is light weight, take very little space and is water proof. Has saved my gear plenty of times. In a pinch put your gear in i a couple of layer of plastic bags(without any holes in them) and tie each bag closed

My wife and I enjoy your show. It’s interesting and informative. Yesterday we started to watch the episodes we missed from January before you started this adventure. I’m Thai and moved to the US in 1974. I did very little traveling within the country when I was young but we’ve been visiting Thailand yearly mainly Chiangmai for over 20 years. I’m looking forward to watching all your episodes. Your show gives me a good summary of what to expect on each province. Thank you! We’d like to suggest telling us the date of filming at the beginning of each episode so we can relate to the current events especially during COVID. Regarding Chiangmai have you tried “Kai Yang Cherng Doi” Roast/grill chickens at Nimanhemin? They also have very good Som Tum. I agreed with you on the Cowboy lady. She’s the best! Just curious, is the house you shared with the two ladies in Hang Dong? Good luck with your adventures.

You might be able to fix batteries by hitting the corrosion with isopropyl alcohol. Get a q tip or cotton swab and dip in the isopropyl alcohol, clean them off, get them as clean and dry as possible, good chance it fixes your issues. If not get DJI mini, great drone for I think 300 usd, very small, easy to travel with

You should have bought a bag of dry rice to put the wet electronics/batteries into for faster drying. I had seen someone put their phone in to a bag of rice some years ago, and it did work for pulling the water out.
