Figured out where the leak was coming from, got lucky was just a gasket, 15 bucks later parts are on order.

I’m repairing one of these engines right now that is leaking in the EXACT same spot. I bet I find there’s a wrong gasket in it. Edit: once the new gasket and seal came in I took this engine apart. It absolutely had the wrong gasket in it just like your engine. What a shame. How could someone at the factory not notice this?

Great video. I have the same engine and oil leak in the same spot. Could you post the part numbers of the gasket and crank seal?

all good found it just need the parts and your off and running just dont forget to set the governor when you put it back together

I have the same mower, original owner, mine leaked st the same place. Took it a part, (didn't have to destroy the crank seal) but the gasket was exactly the same. Bent in that same spot.

I had that exact same style of motor myself and it's leaking the exact same place also must be a factory thing or something cuz I thought my block was cracked I got to looking at it and I didn't really see no cracks.. I was wondering where my oils been going.... Looks like I'll be taking the motor apart ... Thank you for the video you have no idea how much it helped me

I am in the same boat, cleaned the pcv system twice, but continue to have leak in the same place, going to see in the spring if I can get away leaving the lower crank oil seal intact, and grey rtv after removing the paper gasket.

Hey Hank. What's your opinion on these Kohler engines? I've heard mixed opinions but in my experience they've been pretty solid.

I like them. Never had a problem with one after I fixed any initial issues due to neglect

Just picked up a free toro mower, same engine and same leak, think it’s sucking the gaskets in somehow? I doubt it’s been apart before

yea replace the sump gasket or rtv instead

thats a same brand engine on my husqvarna XT722FE 22'' mower and thats probbly whats wrong on mine plus darn thing been more breaking down alot seince i bought it

My troy bilt has a Kohler courage 19.. iv cleaned the carb TWICE and has a stupid bull shit fuel solenoid is there a way u can bypass that just by putting a screw/bolt?

+Trucker boy 98 I wouldnt bypass it but I would verify that is for sure your problem before you write it off, if you have to replace it try ebay, prices are much better. Try cleaning just the solenoid sometimes they can get clogged up pretty bad

that sucks man, ya its probably that solenoid, see if you can find one off another kohler or something or buy one off ebay verify what part number it is before you get another one to make sure it is for your motor.
