This is the best kokyuu sound I've heard on RU-vid so far. Really good job!! Maybe you could try raising the bow a little bit more so the hair doesn't touch the wood of the body when you go to the high string. 素晴らしい演奏だよ！グッド・ジョブ！

It looks like a Tsugaru shamisen, only smaller in size with a lower-set bridge.

tonewisemusic I think using a Violin bow might help. The Kokyu is tuned one Octave above the Shamisen so it's a Soprano Voice.

What are the strings? Nylon? And what about the bow hair? Is it horse?

Is the kokyu also known as the bowed samisen?

Is it a shamisen used by a bow?
