Bhalo means good! Tea is cha! So essentially meaning the tea tastes good. Shuswadu is more written Bengali or old fashioned one than spoken one. Maybe he has a lesser price for old people or locals! Idk really I don't know what to say about street prices for tea. I feel tea should be more expensive than 5 Rs for all who can afford to pay for it. One time I paid minimal amount for some street vendor bhelpuri and felt that i should have given him more, because his food tasted so good, and there's many other things that I have thought but yet haven't done anything about except write on these. I also have many more thoughts than just this about street food. Will post on my own sites some day. But maybe just think about this- when you buy something from a street food vendor in US, have you ever questioned their price, on whether they are cheating you? Can they have some price for regular daily customers vs another for an occasional visitor? Or when you use coupons to buy such food, street or restaurant ones, or even grocery shop, do you feel cheated if you paid 20$ for some food and some one with a coupon paid 15$ or 5$ for the same thing in US/India? Or do you ask McDonald's why their already cheap food is too high priced and why they charge so much for one customer who bought one item vs another who used a combo meal pack ( in US Mcdonald's is cheap food, while In India McDonald's is average to high priced)? But even though in 2 different countries the segment they cater to is different, the food quality is worse in both countries- in US because poor cheap food is used- which could have chemical pesticide contaminations, and other hormonal and chemical problems in non veg /veg food. While in India all cheap to high end food is currently contaminated with chemicals, in many food chains from street vendors to high end ones, simply because unawareness about food, health and how our collective purchase choices impact our food or any food industry. If McDonald's gives a coupon for sale or product buying packages, no one will question them, but we all have a tendency to question street vendors who are the lowest in the totem pole of hospitality industry. Those people who are street vendors not because they enjoy the thug life, but mostly because they never had the money for any resturant, but they needed to feed themselves and their family; or even when they had the money they don't have initiative to open a larger, safer, cleaner place to sell. So them having the right ingredients to even make high quality food is nearly impossible too, especially if they keep selling it at a low price point, and if they don't have the education or experience or initiative to understand how to make their foods safer ( all of which is connected to poverty, education level, and even capacity to understand complex interconnected life & health & business problems). And people who can't afford more than 5Rs chai, should be their usual customers; while people like us who may have some additional funds to explore and eat other foods, should possibly try out such places for fun ocassionally only possibly. But this kind of eating shouldn't become a pattern for any of us having the earning potential to spend on better quality food. Why? Because unless we pay for the better quality, and take the initiatives to sustain those better quality food, those safe, healthy good food quality selling places also won't materialise for us. You know this street vendor likely doesn't earn much money from the 5 Rs chai he sells to many. And even if he does earn enough, his quality of life still is subpar, as Kolkata has many subpar living condition based problems. As do many cities of a developing country like India. It's still called a developing country as we haven't understood what development actually means even now, and the things Indians mimic about American culture currently aren't the things to sustain better health. While the things Indians have ignored are the same conditions that makes US a better country to live and same conditions that used to exist in India too ( & still exists in pockets of India) I have tried mentioning this previously too to you and Max in your combined vlogs, to be careful about the Street foods you are exploring, the water content in them or other things generally used in India, make them very unsafe even for Indians to consume. And if any Indian or foreigner consumes multiple toxins from multiple sources regularly from going to different places or cities, they have the potential to get severely ill, depending on what contamination happened and the combined synergistic impact on the body over time ( both from street to high end place food or stay or travel modes used). Take care about what you consume, and not just via the Street foods. As the problems with food, health and hygeine related factors have increased in ways humans currently not working or thinking about health or chemical biochemical processes inside our bodies, understand or care to reflect about. But that doesn't stop people from getting sick, if enough conditions for those exist in our life. And even though I have the knowledge, I am as sick as anyone else not aware of why they are sick, because some of the contaminations can't be stopped in India unless people wake up to them and their long term harms. This is problem with food and travel is as true in US as it is in India (or any country of the world), because US has it's own set of problems specific to local systems in place and usage of things that end up polluting our food, water, air, etc.globally. And then all of them eventually impact our health, especially the health of those who travel and are exposed to more health harming things. Part of the suggestions for reflection or changing how we travel is from my personal travel experiences, personal health experiences; as well as work ones in different food and health industry related aspects of work that I have done in the past. And even to stay healthy at a minimal level, I had to go through many phases of poor health from contaminated or health harming foods ( water, air, clothes, etc.) in India and US both. A problem you will eventually understand once you start listening to all the symptoms and signals your body is sending you. And without understanding your own health, you can't understand how to keep it better and healthier long term for yourself or anyone you care about. I really love all your vlogs that come on my feed. And I am not a subscriber. But the reason I get your vlogs are because I write on topics about healthcare and preventative care, and also business- and human interest topics- and some of your vlogs are simplest ways to help people exploring travel, living on budget, traveling on budget, or running businesses, that if everything we do in life isn't aligned in some right ways, it causes health issues of different kinds for each of us collectively doing those activities. Ok it's a long post already. Hope this gives you and your subscribers, some food for thought. Take care.

I think the taxi driver’s cup was smaller ie @ Rs 5/. Bigger cup costs I think maybe more for Rs 10 n Rs 10 for Bengali lesson.

Did you try the new school Bengali sweets like chhena toast ? Do try it. Also did you know the common yellow mustard sauce is a commonly used Bengali condiment ? Must try it also.
