You are a master brewer. You are the only one in youtube that teaches 1 month to 6 months 2nd fermentation. Most of the youtubers only ferment 2-3 days. No wonder my kombucha taste like fruit juice. Thank god i discovered your channel.
riccia888 wow! Thanks! Most people think I’m crazy because they’ve “read” something contradicting, but I’ve tested these things for a long time. 😁Happy brewing.
Hello and thnx for this video, i make Kombucha for a while and was annoyed my grandchildren would not drink it, they only wanted to drink cola. So what did i do to get them drink Kombucha, yep i replaced in a special batch the sugar with coca cola and yep now they drink it. I only do the second fermantation for 3 days so i checked and no alcohol but a Kombucha with cola taste and now they drink it. I dont know if more ppl do this, but hey i liked your video and wanted to share this. (sorry for the gramar, this is not my native language) Perhaps you can try this, i make my green tea and put no sugar in but the cola, i do not like it because i prefer the old style Kombucha, but it was this way or no way for my grandchildren)
Frederika Voornaamisgenoeg That is a great idea and very creative. My kids (ages 13, 15 & 17) nor husband will drink it because of the SCOBY. Seems like they would be used to it by now. I am getting ready to start making water kefir hoping they will like it. If I buy gt's chia Kombucha, my 17 year old will drink that. It is frustrating that it's so healthy and they won't drink it.
Hi I fermented my kombucha on Tues. I realize I filled it up a bit too much to the top, its now Thursday, I have a scoby coming in to the top and the other one is on the bottom. It still look pretty healthy, Smell's a Lil. Bit like vinegar. So what I did was poor some out to my jar and hoping I didn't disturb it too much to contaminate my kobucha. You think I should've left it alone?
Hi if one wanted to make flavored first ferment could one add chopped up ginger add to tea sugar water solution to steep over night then filter and decant correct?
samasia skipperable I would chop the ginger to add to your brew and second ferment it just like that. I like to juice my ginger, then add it to my brew for second ferment.
DT Wellness Hello thank you for the input I ended up throwing care to the wind last night. I'd read about watched and spoke to ppl in the know including yourself since I had no SCOBY only the bits of mother Aa from GT kombucha. I'd seen a gentleman who made ginger ale only one direct decant right out of gallon. He had previously next thebwrenchadded ginger, water, ginger bug, sugar some lemon juice and salt mixed and went right into bottles for a few days bam done fizzy and good per himself I thought why is it with kombucha we nut do it first with tea let it sit for sometime especially with no SCOBY like me. Chemically it made sense that there's not a need for the 2 step process. So in about 1/3 of gal water I put large Amt of black currant tea, some green tea let it boil put in 1 c of sugar stirred and a good Amt of ginger and ginger juice pressed thru garlic press-stirred say a good 12 hrs. Then drained all thru sev covfefe filters and put to that about 3.5 bottles of sams club water to what was was in my concentrated batch then threw in the lemon out of a concentrate stirred and bottled I left it the salt. I hope in the future s more like this. Thank you so much for perusing my letters and places comment on what I said and a lot depends on time if it's good thank you again though bless you and may the luck be on your shoulder with every batch make.
samasia skipperable It is really easy to grow a SCOBY at home. 1Cup of strong green/ black tea, 2-3 Tbsp sugar, mixture cooled, 1 cup gt's original kombucha. Put coffee filter or cloth over the top. Store in a dark place for 2-3 weeks. When SCOBY gets 1/4 inch thick. It's ready. I would use that one for plain brews. The offsprings can be used for first flavored ferment.
