This is a fantastic guide - I just worked through most of it from text-sites, this is great. Talks about the two-foot punch, the split foot, etc. I like how you work up to it, not just show off like a lot of 'guides.' Thanks again.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I found this very inspirational, and now a month ortwo later, I can do it with the greatest of ease! I mean now I can just hit it out of nowhere even without a running start or really the intent at first. YOU HAVE HELPED ME MOVE FORWARD. I am very grateful, thank you!
Ha! I got it! Funny. I was jumping from right up against the table. Saw your video a couple of times more and I realized you were a couple of steps back. Thank you so much!!!
Excellent tutorial. By far one of the best ones I've seen for parkour techniques. Really appreciate the detail in description as well as the slow motion. Dont know how many times I've tried to pause/play/pause YT vids to get a better idea of how things go.
VERY nice video/tutorial. You made it easy to understand and make a fine line between the need to use a two foot launch for going up and a one foot launch going over a long distance!
DUDEEEEEEEEEE you're freakin awesome all you're tutorials are amazing...I started parkour 2 months ago and I already know how to :roll, landing roll, lazy vault and kong vault and a little bit of wallrun .....man thank you so much!
great vid, i like how you told us to combine momentum, arm strength and leg strength to get over the obstacle. also thanks for telling me about the to types of take off for your feet, i was really confused on which one to use before
Wow! Awesome tutorial. I'm gonna find the nearest park around with picnic tables and I'm learning this, you make it look too eazy :). And I think you're right , it's mostly a mental thing. Thank you for making this.
ozzi you are the best man;D your tutorials helped me a lot after i watched your tutorials i must say that i know perfect monkey, dash, lazy, kong, etc. you are the best man in my historical life
This is a good tutorial, thanks! I have a huge mental block when it comes to kong jumps. This brakes it down nicely and I am confidant I can get over my fear as long as I take it slow.
oh dude, thnx. this is really helpful. I could show you pictures of my scars on my hands from trying all out to kong vault. I never thought of practicing this way. thnx dude :)
Amazing! I'm starting parkour and can already do several vaults and I want to learn the kong. This is the best tutorial I've seen! Thanks. I'll try it when I have time. Right now I have homework to do xD
Thanks alot man! After watching this vid i was able to do my first kng vault. I couldnt believe it I always had a fear that my foot would get stuck and i would face plant. But after working my way up for ten mins from the little jump excercize you showed us, I kept putting more strength and speed and soon i cleared the table thanks man :) by the way this was my first ever attempt at parkour thanks a million man.
this has always been an area ive struggled with. mainly cos im scared ill faceplant out of it lol, but this really helps break down the movement technique. now, hopefully, i can get ovr my fear - thanx!! :)
This guy is damn right. My psychological block always made me fail my kong. But after watching this tutorial, i think i have the confidence to do it already. Thanks :D
Wow, this was so helpfull i just went ojt and never tried b4 got it in 10 minutes. Its also great to see im not the only begginer, all of us are helping eachother out
yeah...this is an amazing tutorial. its all about the mind and the shackles we gotta slowly take off (hence why the best parkour teachers always teach you step by step) ...this is actually a VERY simple move...and once you go for it, it feels fucking golden. This is probably my favorite vault next to a kash.
Banged my knees properly today (first day of attempts) while trying to do a wall at shoulder height. I managed a nipple-high one without any trouble after seeing this tutorial, and I probably would have made the shoulder-high one too, if not for my being new to this. Anyway, these tutorials are great for beginners, like me, and the first day thing is definitely true, as long as you set your mind to it, and not just expect your knowledge to do the jump for you. Careful out there, and good luck
VERY GOOD TUT!!!!!! im so bored when i watch some other tutorials and they all show what it looks like :( , no how to do it, BUT you MADE IT!! this really helped me how to do kong.... THANKS ....btw you are pro :)
@AD173 Try keeping your arms shoulder-length apart when they touch to obstacle. This allows enough 'room' for your legs to go between your arms. I hope this helps!
to be honest i would say that the ones going over length ways were better than short :D but im sure your cats are better now! i was looking for a tutorial to teach my friend, i was teaching him earlier, and he got it down, but forgot when he got home, so i used your video to remind him! so thanks for that ;) now gonna go check out your other videos! im sure ill be impressed. Andeh :x
this is actually really easy to do, i started of doing it on my table in my sitting room, to get over the fear i put cousions on the edges and corners so if i bang my feet it wouldn't hurt, then i took them away then moved onto my garden table did the same as the one in my sitting room, now i can pretty much do it on anything yay!
@thedbzaddict, well, the kong just works for long obstacles. I suppose you can use it for short obstacles, but keep in mind there are better vaults for shorter objects.
@InSilenceOfEchos I'm just a beginner, but I had the same problem. Try bringing your hips higher. That's what I did and it worked, but I still haven't perfected it.
Impressive vid. I am still on the part where i jump on the table with my legs in between my arms it is helping to take fear away but this vid shars much insight in how you do a kong thanx it really helps.
@AD173 Your knees never have to go past you arms, either you'll be leaned a bit forward or your weight should be off your arms by then, depending if you're landing by your hands or past them, respectively. Think of it as more of a thrust or a shove, than a push against the table. The whole vault is rather spring-ish, not so mush strenght, but fines. As you practice it will feel more natural. Don't rush it, go in small steps, it's a great workout, too. Good luck, have fun.
you should search if there is a Parkour Gym (Firestorm) near you. They have a wearhouse full of walls, foam blocks, wooden blocks, and a trampoline, foam pit, ropes and silks. It's a awesome place and they even have classes on parkour and different levels.
also i have a question. i cant do the split foot take off. whenever i try it the kong ends up all messy and wrong and i lose speed. i can do the 2 foot punch take off but thats all i can do so i always lose speed. so what might i be doing wrong with the split foot take off?
hey this is a really good vid as it teaches me how to get over the fear of hittin my toes but at the beginning where you jump on the table i cant jump that high are there any exercise i can do so i can jump higher or anything i can do in the gym?
cool tutorial your right it is easy and a lot of it is psychological. I've only been doing parkour for roughly 4 days and they were all on weekends only. I managed to break my fear doing it on walls that were thigh to waist high and eventually moved up to a chest high tree branch. Tomorrow im going to have to try a picnic bench which i initially feared to try it on to begin with cause of distance.
Your videos helped me master speed vault and short kong vaults. Thanks. I'm having trouble with long kong vaults though. I feel like when my arms hit the table, they're so far ahead of me, that when I "push up" I basically slow myself down, so my legs can't get over the table. I'm also kinda paranoid about the dive... any tips?
That was a very good tutorial although I still have trouble doing split foot I can never get the height when I do it that way. Anyways I am a official fan of your tuts now!
Awesome tutorial, alot of the other tutorials are to brief, you broke it down perfectly. But how do you bring your legs under your body as your coming off?
@luvisallme ooo so you take ur hand of the table when ur goin to land its lke runnijng and diving but just the table gives you more altitude i think lol
