I purchased this as a Linux-based (Pop!_OS) software developer working on COSMIC, a desktop environment for Linux. I'll mostly be using this for programming. Tiling window management is absolutely vital to make the most of this. COSMIC is well optimized for ultrawide displays. I've used wdisplays to set the refresh rate to 165. Set layout.frame_rate to 165 in Firefox's about:config. And installed the UltraWideo extension for Firefox to scale RU-vid videos to ultrawide. I've also carefully calibrated the colors and found the best settings on my unit to be "Dark field bright effect" at 2, Contrast 54, DCR off, Gamma1, Red 45, Green 47, and Blue 49. I can't test HDR because the compositor doesn't yet support it, but the SDR (8-bit) color quality post-calibration is fairly close to my LG OLED C1. The color accuracy and contrast is good enough that I cannot perceive any difference during daylight hours. That said, my perception of color may be limited as I am not an artist. There is slight VA ghosting if you focus on looking for it, with content specially crafted to expose it. In most content, it appears as a slight motion blur effect, if it is even noticeable at all. I don't personally care about PC games, so my use case for 165 Hz is purely for reducing eye strain when scrolling through large quantities of colored text. Higher refresh rates are necessary to reduce the blur from ghosting in VA panels. Perhaps it is because of the 1000R curve, but I see no color distortion when looking at any area of the display from my desk. The curve's very helpful for making content on the sides and corners as readable as content in the center. I also personally prefer VA over IPS because of the much higher contrast and deeper blacks, which are very helpful when you spend a lot of time in dark-themed interfaces, editors, and terminals.
@@kronos0612 nice ive been enjoying mine since very good for the price and the menu and brigtness settings are easy to access with the button at the back of the monitor
Hello, I'm a student living in Korea. I want to know exactly the DCI-p3 and SRGB values of the monitor in this video. I can't recognize what you're talking about with automatic RU-vid translation, so I'm leaving a comment like this
Hey man you are the best, I never comment but I’ve been looking for a monitor for Xbox and you are the only one that specifies everything thank you keep with the good work❤
I think people want the monitor for the price....not many ultrawides at this price range and on paper the specs seem decent- that is the real selling point $.
Exactly! Specs and price are great! Ghosting seems consistent across the other 34" monitors I have tried from different brands... makes we wonder if they are all using the same panel manufacturer lol
@@tvchefKoorui actually manufactures their own panels. They have multiple factories apparently. This was what a representative said on a Newegg show when interviewed over the phone, this is the reason they have lower prices.
Considering the price difference I would say extremely well for what you are paying for that Alienware... now maybe one day Alienware will see this comment and want to send us a sample to compare!!
Does it come with speakers? Or do I have to buy some to connect it to the monitor?(If I do have to buy some please recommend the best ones for the monitor)
Is Koorui s trusted brand? Cause you know. Maybe agter a year or so we'd have to file for an RMA or something...... Theyre new to the industry so just asking if they are really that good.
We have used Koorui products for a few years now without any issues. They are still new but I would say they have been legit long enough to buy with confidence!
Great review. I Need a moniter that is good with he Xbox series x. I want to spend less then 300 dollars so I could get this but do you recommend this, or is their a better monitor in that price range for the series x.
"A chef is a professional cook and tradesperson who is proficient in all aspects of food preparation, often focusing on a particular cuisine. The word "chef" is derived from the term chef de cuisine (French pronunciation: [ʃɛf də kɥizin]), the director or head of a kitchen."... you might as well peg yourself as president, but you guys already have a bozo for that job. 🙄🙄
I have not used the Xiaomi yet but it appears most of these 34" monitors probably share the same panel... I would do the KOORUI over the Xiaomi since it will be about ~$100 less at the time of this comment!
I decided to get an HP Omen 34c. I got it for ~60€ less and despite the lower price, I'm pretty certain that it is a higher quality build due to multiple reviews, including yours. Both are VA panels and HP is simply a brand that is to be trusted and while delivering pretty much the same specs, I prefer the quality assured brand. The Koorui is probably a good deal, though. I honestly can't tell. @@tvchef
What software are you using to test it? Building my new pc and using this monitor as my main monitor and the koorui 24" curved 165hz as my second along with an R9 7900x3d/64gb 6000mhz 30 cas corsaur ram/RX7900gre.
do you recommend this monitor for competitive fps such as valorant or csgo? since some people doesn't recommend using va monitor for such games due to the ghosting and motion blur
Yeah a lot of people still prefer TN panels for competitive gaming! Honestly it really comes down to your own personal playing preference! I would buy 1 of each and try and see what you like best and return the other
Was looking for my 1st curved monitor, and after watching this review I decided to go with this monitor. Going from a basic flat screen 27’ 60hz to this. Really appreciate the info!
I could not find the brightness info online. If I had to guess it would be 300 nits! It was not too dim but I also don't use my monitors in direct sunlight!
3 year warranty! It is a 1440p monitor but you could still edit 4k on non 4k displays... Obviously to watch in 4k resolution you would want to use a 4k display but editing is not an issue that has more to do with your PC and if it is capable of editing 4k!
Just checking as im buying one of these later. So it will run 1440 at 120hz via hdmi connection yes? Ive seen some people say the monitor wont support 2k at 120 via hdmi
I have this monitor and I need an arm, but I bought a vesa 75 arm and doesn't fit with the monitor. I think that I need an adapter, but searching in internet I didn't find anythin. Anyone could help me? thank you in advance.
I got this as a gift from my wife but we ran into a problem. The audi doesnt work at all, we tried turning all the way up, checked the settings on my ps. Do you have any suggestions?
Okay so I'v just realized PS5 Doesn't officially support 21:9 ultra wide monitors and some ppl feel like the image on ultra wide is a bit stretched.... Did you notice any problem while testing PS5 on this monitor?
I have an Xbox series X and I having a racing sim game I play using this monitor. How do I get the monitor set up to use all 34” and it look correct like your visual on forza? When I go full screen it makes everything wider then it should be. Hopefully that makes sense. Thanks!
Hey, first of all great review as always I have a question, so I've been looking to buy a 34 inches monitor and I like everything I see over here, how would you compare the picture quality and the brightness of this monitor to the Sceptre C345B? Edit (Damn that 1000R looks good)
I like the picture better on the KOORUI then the Sceptre! Very similar but I give a slight edge to the KOORUI with better color accuracy - especially if you start messing with the settings yourself!
Thanks so much for the suggestion. We are currently in discussions with KOORUI to showcase one of their monitor arms so that might be a good option for us so stay tuned!
I got this monitor today and i out it on dp input and now it just flashes different colors with a blue box of the inout setting floating around screen. It wont let me change it to hdmi input or anything else
I just bought this monitor, the PP/PBP function is grade out on the settings for me, how to i unlock this to get it to work, are you aware and woukd be able to help?
I don't have the monitor in front of me to reference but right above or near that setting maybe a step back you need to turn or enable something else? DM me a pic and I can help you better!
A lot of people on Amazon have been saying it stopped working is anyone else having that problem? I'm wanting to get this monitor but I'm worried its going to stop working.
Do you remember if this monitor could be rotated vertically? And how would you personally compare a 1000R to a 1500R? I'm having a super hard time deciding. Thanks.
No vertical rotation... you can see our stand video on it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Pgwoc-uM4Bw.html In regard to curvature either will be fine. Its easy to overthink it! 1000R will have more bend to 1500R but at 34" it is negligible!
Just watched it. I did though end up buying this Koorui with an additional stand I found somewhere (found another video that showed its inability to rotate) yesterday -- but it turns out there's no delivery date. So that, added to your reply that the bend would be negligible (I trust your opinion)... yeah, I'm cancelling the order and going for the iiyama gmaster. I'll use the extra stand for another monitor. Thank you @@tvchef
Hello, in my menu the PIP/PBP setting is blanked out. I've tried fiddling around with different stuff and can't seem to get it to work. Any tips on how you got yours working? I'm using my PC via DP and PS5 via HDMI. Thanks.
hmmm are both of your sources turned on? My brain is mush after so many monitors without being in front of this one at the moment I can't remember if there are any other steps to setup... I want to say it was just going to the setting and enabling it... look at that screen and maybe above the pip you might have to turn something else on???
What do you mean by your not landing on this one because of the ghosting. Does this monitor have a huge problem with ghosting? I may be overthinking but I’m just curious on what you mean .. thank yoh
This monitor has the same amount of ghosting as all the other 34" monitors we have tested! It is a great option for the price and ghosting does not bother me as much as it bothers some other people!
Not sure about Arabic you will need to contact KOORUI directly... I am not sure what Sony Five is? Do you mean PlayStation 5? If so check out 16:32 in our video!
thanks for the review, i already Pre-Ordered mine a while ago (it's in PO status in my country) but since its only accept vesa 75x75 and mine is 100x100, i need to make some 3d print for vesa spacer, can you tell me how far the depth is the monitor connection point for vesa to the body frame, my initial plan is to make 18mm thick spacer, but since seeing your unboxing and see the stand, i'm not sure now is it the right height or not, after seeing the low ones is more thicker than the top ones, hope you can help me measure it 🥲
We just cleaned our studio to make way for more samples and I believe this monitor is now put any in storage :( I would contact Koorui directly and see if they can provide the measurement! So sorry!
I like to think the larger screen will lend itself to being desirable for software development! I have not tried it with a USB C hub so it might depend on the quality of hub?
Hi! What is the height of this monitor? Is it height adjustable? What is the lowest possoble height for this? I cant find the differential in the tallest and shortest height
If I still had the sample readily available I would check but unfortunately I don't! Your best bet is to contact their customer support directly: koorui.net/pages/contact
@@tvchefCan the G5 make the ps5 fullscreen too? im about to buy a 34" monitor as i mainly play Gt7 on Ps5 but also have a Monster Pc to play simracing. I dont care about if its a little bit stretched im just curious if i can Fullscreen on ps5?
I have a viv vertical vesa mount and the monitor says it supports a 75 by 75 vesa plate and I have that but it won’t fit cause of the outer square so how do I make it fit
It all comes down to your console/pc! I am not bothered as much by ghosting as other viewers... I think it is great but I always say buy and try and return if not what you like or prefer!
Hey, can you tell me what DC voltage this monitor runs on? I just destroyed my Acer XZ342 and am looking for a replacement. I live in an RV, and running my electronics directly on DC power is WAY more efficient than going through an AC inverter first.
Have you tried lenovo g34w-30? How does the ghosting compare with it? Is the ghosting really bad? I want to pre ordering this monitor but little bit sceptic about the ghosting. I found that lenovo g34w-30 has panel with better ghosting & respone time But koorui price is much lower than the lenovo.
I have not tried the Lenovo yet but for some reason I feel like these 34" panels all have similar ghosting and not sure why that is the case! I would keep your pre order assuming you can return it and see if its good enough for you. If it is you saved some $$ but if not then return and try the Lenovo... Wash rinse and repeat until you found the right monitor for you!
Hi. I am currently preordering this monitor and your channel is the only information I have. This will my second ultra wide monitor but also my first VA panel monitor and curved monitor. Oh, I should also say that this will be my first Freesync capable monitor although unfortunately for now, I don't have high-end Radeons that can make game works fine in WQHD. About your video on the technical stuffs part, I think it is better if you also added text to the video. For example you are mentioning the color accuracy part, you could also add the number as additional text on the video to make it clearer. The presentation on this video itself is good, but the information can be clearer.
We are SLOWLY building a database so we can offer avgs and better comparisons on screen to give the data meaning. It will be a few more months until we get enough units to make the change!
Hey, first of all, a good video, I'm a viewer from Germany. I am considering buying this monitor and wanted to ask if this monitor is also suitable for watching movies and series, since the 21:9 format is not supported everywhere.
You need a PC or a console or something to display an image on this monitor. So just gaming is fine if you have a console or other device to power this!
@@tvchef Thank you for responding. Also I want to use display port for better display would I get sound? Or do I need to use external speakers (bear in mind no laptop or desktop) only game console?
Honestly whatever one is cheaper. They will be so similar that I would personally shop by price or other feature like stand configuration or if you need 165hz etc!
Great review! I bought it because of your review. Upon testing it today, I can say that on single-player games. It's a great experience! Although competitive games is kinda a hit o miss when using this one. It seems It's using the same panel on the g5 ultra wide o the msi artymis based on the specs and Curvature Would like to hear your thoughts with this one?
This is great to hear! Yeah your experience seems spot on to what we have experienced. Right now I am not sure there is a better option at 34" regardless of brand. I thought the same thing with the few 34" models we have reviewed... I am convinced they are using the exact same panels (but I have no idea how to prove that theory) Do you think you will keep the monitor? Anything else we did not cover well in our video? It is hard to showcase ghosting so curious how you feel it performs?
@@tvchef I'll probably keep it for now, but I'll only use it for multimedia consumption, basic productivity stuff and Playing Single player games. I had a great experience using this monitor in a dark room. I'll stick with my 27 inch IPS if I'm playing competitive shooters. I really like the contrast of VA monitors so I'll probably buy an oled ultrawide if they become somewhat affordable haha. In terms of some stuff that you missed, I think people who wants to buy this monitor should be aware that if you want to mount this with a arm monitor, you need an exact 75 x 75 mm vesa compatible mount or else it will not fit properly. I was misled by the ad that they have that it supports 100 X 100. I tried using my 100 X 100 mm mount that also has a 75 x 75 holes, it did not fit properly due to the excess area of the mount and the way they molded the back. So Stick with the stock stand as much as possible or find a 75 X 75 monitor arm. Ghosting is there, but it did not really bother me as much as I would have thought in Single player games. And yes the overdrive options is somewhat useless hahaha. For me personally this monitor is for people who wants to play single player games and wants the immersion of this display. And also given the price, I cannot really complain with the given features. I got this monitor for only 270 dollars after taxes and shipping, although I'm within the asian market, so probably that had an effect on the pricing. Upon researching, I found the same monitor with different branding: HKC cg343u. It seems koorui is their "gamer brand" like aorus to gigabyte. The only thing that I know about this company (HKC) is they produce TV panels and monitor panels a lot in china. They also produce some panels for samsung tv's based on what i researched. Dunno if that is relevant or not hahaha. Overall, given the 3 year warranty, price, specs, and overall experience I can say that It is a competitive product compared to the budget midrange ultrawide va's available. Price is the selling point. Also Looking forward on your future monitor reviews for budget monitors!
Very similar to each other! If you are okay with either brand than I would pick whatever one is the lowest price at the time of purchase and go with that montior!
Not noticing it for text but defiantly the smearing in fast gameplay as we tried to show in the video! For some reason it doesn't seem to matter the brand but ghosting seems worse on these 34 inch models!
Is this matte display degrading image quality compared to a comparable glossy? Does it feel less contrasty? Do you you recommend this, the LG 35WN75C-B or ViewSonic VX3418-2KPC for Blender, programming and some gaming?
I would say no to degrading the image quality... nothing distinguishable for us! I have not specifically used the LG or ViewSonic yet but I tend to be biased to LG whenever possible when prices are close. From all the 34" monitors I've used so far though they seem eerily similar in performance and viewing experiences so I'd expect the same to hold true with both those models!

I have not used the PRISM+ but for the price difference just looking at both on paper I would stick with the KOORUI and enjoy some extra $$$ in your pocket!
Have not had the opportunity to use the Xiaomi yet but on paper they are very similar you might get better colors on the Xiaomi along with blue light certification but the Koorui has higher refresh rate and is cheaper by ~$50!
