Today we shall be elucidate the deeds of the 1st Captain of the Word Bearers: Kor Phaeron.
Guardian of Primarch Lorgar Aurelian during his youth upon the world of Colchis, Kor Phaeron would be installed as the most senior commander of the 17th Legion: The Word Bearers.
Sowing the seeds of heresy from his teachings of the Old Faith of Colchis, the Dark Cardinal of the Chaos Gods would reap untold miseries through his acts of deception, treachery and corruption...

My D4 char is named for him. I know loyalists who love him, but they also can speak honestly about philosophy without getting bogged down. Like missing the point behind the belief that Magnus is innocent

@@samuelkristensen6685 he basically passed with a D minus. Like he's old as f*** and could take only some of the gene seed implants and the rest had to be made up with cybernetics and such. He's not as tough but at this point I'm pretty sure the warp is helping him a lot

It wasn't his monologing that allowed G-man to tear one of his hearts, but the fact, that he wanted to corrupt him. If he wanted to kill him, he would have done so. Regardless it was out-right forbidden by the chaos gods to kill the G-man even to Lorgar, because in his last moments, Guliman would have ordered all forces to make haste to Terra and the war would surely be lost.

People always accuse the Emperor for being a horrible father to his sons, but it is a always a reminder that not all of the adoptive parents of the Primarchs were paragons of virtues, and Kor Phaeron is on the top list of being a bad dad.

I think part of the issue is the chaos gods deliberately chose certain planets to warp the development of the primarch's psyche so that a heresy was inevitable due to the Emperor being unable to relate to or dedicate resources to stopping them. Functionally The Gods used a narcisisstic double bind or catch 22 to force the Emperor into a no win situation where everyone would perceive him as a jerk for trying his best to triage the situation so humanity would not go extinct and in that the Emperor was successful at the steepest of costs. Be that as it may I think given that Lorgar was a primarch obsessed with faith I think the Emperor should have definately forseen his fall to chaos or maybe employed his Custodes as psycho therapists for the more broken or wayward primarchs.

@@R0230R Erebus is a whole other book. He is worse. He is beyond worse, but Kor Phaeron? He has something that makes him utterly anethema. Theres something inherently wrong in his crazy, while Erebus is just.. lacking in all decency and value, Papa Kor-P is just.. I dont know. Its wrong. On so many more levels. I look at it like the difference between a rabid beast, and a sycophant. Theyre both despicable as all fuck, though.

@@R0230Rboth are very scummy. Erebus is the architect of the Horus Heresy, but Kor Phaeron’s role in corrupting Lorgar began from the very beginning, way before Erebus. He would sow the seeds from the onset of meeting Lorgar, and would twist Lorgar over and over again, especially after Monarchia. Kor Phaeron, in this sense, is as evil as Erebus

@@thelegittaco974 I didn't deny that they're "scummy", just that Erebus fits more to the unrelatable and 'alien'=inhuman characteristics compared to Kor Phaeron from what we got out of his backstory. Erebus was always devoid of any semblance of humanity, while again; Kor was pretty much fortunate to be the one to find the one Primarch that was the most susceptible to what's basically Stockholm syndrome. he was never what one call powerful or charismatic, just lucky.

@@R0230R but doesn’t that make Kor Phaeron as inhumane and devoid of humanity too, in a way? He was lucky to find Lorgar, exploited him, abused him, and now Lorgar has Stockholm, he gets lucky, and when Lorgar is at his lowest, he takes advantage of it to make him serve his whims. You’re right, Erebus is more unrelatable in how devilish he is, but I don’t think Kor Phaeron is just lucky. He is not charismatic, but he is devious and very manipulative

Its a shame Kor gets overshadowed by both Erebus in the eyes of the fandom in terms of hate and responsibility for the heresy. When Really he's just as responsible as him. Like Erebus he too remained a chaos worshiper in private even after joining the legions and like Erebus he too was basically following Lorgars orders after both of them convinced him to join Chaos (I imagine the reason Lorgar is considered "the first heretic" is because in order to be a heretic you need to be a loyalist first which neither of them were). This probably has something to do Erebus appearing in the book series first.

Thinking of the old man sqeaking about in modified terminator armor....yelling "boy!" At lorgar as he rushed to protect his sons being slaughtered by Corvus...then saved from the killing blow by The night haunter. Kor did have balls tho, walking around missing a heart from Bobby G punching him...he survived to establish a safe haven in the eye. Sor telron was melted and in hell and lorgar brought him back...then became a dreadnought the warmonger. Badass. Lorgar had some balls to but his ego got too big. I love betrayer tho....buddy cop with angron in the shadow crusade.

I would like to see Erebus have an other epic plan going and get it taken out from under him by Kharn at the last second. Can't kill Erebus... I love to hate him. He needs to kill Drogo first and the few other poorly written OP Mary Sue's. I always love how Erebus slips away honestly after doing something we all hate. Kor Phaeron is an attention whore baron. Have the hybrid stripped of his armor and thrown off the pages never to be written about again. Literally and metaphorically that would be the best death for such a poorly written character.

People really sleep on how busted Erebus and Kor are. Erebus has at will summoned 4 greater daemons like it was nothing and killed Erda. Kor with a bit of time was able to store about enough warp juice to paralyze a primarch and could have easily killed him if he didn't try to turn him instead. It's now been like 1200 years since and Kor and Erebus are still sane (relatively speaking) well Kharn is just a crazy man now who's died multiple times since.

Gonna practice painting on some old plastic toys laying around with primer and acrylic paint to get painting down right before doing The Marines and Hive Tyrant

Awesome video! I'm still newish to the hobby and didn't really understand what his role was in everything. Any chance of doing a video on Zahariel? He's been my favorite character since I started reading the Horus Heresey. Just starting on Fallen Angels and I'm so excited to have Zahariel as a main character again! Phaeron was the real root of the HH, even before erebus. He corrupted logar, making him dependant on faith to live, even at the cost of worshipping the ruinous powers.

Following the events of Calth, I've always considered The Word Bearers as the primary chaotic rivals of the Ultramarines. I know the Black Legion usually fits that role as the vanilla chaos legion but I think that the Word Bearers fit much better.

False: as all other Traitor Legions, the Word Bearers were basically annihilated and split in warbands competing for survival. They divided in sects led by various Dark Apostles and Cardinals, much likely excommunicating each other in the process. With Lorgar nowhere to be found, hiding with a good reason. Two reasons, more precisely. One is Guilliman, who swore to gut him like a fish, and almost succeded on Nuceria. The other is Corax, who's actively stalking him in the Eye of Terror to settle the score with the events of Istvaan V. I'd say that Lorgar's days are clearly numbered.

Everyone wonders what happened to the 2nd and 11th Primarchs. Probably, for at least one of them, he just landed on a super-chill planet where he was raised by decent middle class parents and was in the middle of a communications degree when the Emperor showed up. He then bailed on the meeting and is still backpacking around the galaxy.

Nice content Important to remember that the 13th was present with BigE at Harmonia, Guilliman and all UM eagerly annihilated the planet and enslaved the population... Also...'pursuit of purpose ' is meaningless w/o physical resources And spiritual foundation. So, ', honeyed words ' or not, WB DA methodology does indeed provide for sustainability of civilization and cultivaton of spiritual nourishment.

I never liked the idea of the Angel, but considering how hard it must have been to get Sang’s wings to function perfectly without relying on standard avian anatomy, I can see a trial run in the Angel. Imo he was a proto-Custodes who was driven mad by his augmentations

Valedor head of the Custodians could be considered a primarch. The emperor treated him as such, giving him special weapons that only other primarchs got to use.
