Here he is riding our Jones Plus SWB titanium Spaceframe singlespeed bicycle with 29" x 2.6" tires and also our longer Plus LWB titanium Spaceframe with 29" x 3.25" tires on some of our local Ashland, Oregon Trails.
He's been riding Jones bikes for a while now...
And sometimes behind one. 2009: blog.jonesbikes.com/ride-to-s...
Racing his custom Jones 20" bike back in 2011: blog.jonesbikes.com/ashland-s...
Again in 2012: blog.jonesbikes.com/spring-th...
Trying my Jones Spaceframe bike back in 2013: • Korbin rides the big bike
And on his custom 26" titanium Jones bike a year later riding with me on some of the same trails: • A ride in the woods on...
Riding to soccer practice. / ttql5rwuh2

I,ve just built a SWB up, from used components. You (Jones Bikes) really should look at making the seatpost tube larger, as 27.2 is really limited on external dropper options............... Larger diameter and a port for cable at base of post is the way to go, as this is the go to standard nowadays, choose of post would be much better Other than that its spot on. 👍

Great video! And I want a LWB PLUS! But where, oh, where are the 29x3" tires coming from? Other than Vee, I can't find a thing. Have all the manufacturers moved on? Jeff, are you going to start offering your own Jones Spec rubber?

Looksmlike the tires are a bit squirmy in corners?
@Veloperator
@Veloperator Год назад
Not really "squirmy" at all, the wide rims and wide tires at low pressure (12psi) have tons of grip in the corners and absorb the bumps great. If anything, these tires are much more stable and track the ground significantly better than other "mountain bikes" I've ridden with 2.4" tires and narrow rims.

@@Veloperator thanks for the response, I was thinking primarily when the bike is leaned, does it squirm when angled? Many claim that is the primarily reason why DH bikes almost never go bigger than 2.4" since then tires start squirming in corners (?).

From all the different bikes with different tires and rims, I have found quite the opposite. I find the tight and/or award corners where you are really leaning the bike over is where the wide rims and tires truly shine! The wide rims allow me to run low pressure without the tire folding and squirming, because of this I have a lot more traction and can really lean and push the bike through the corners. With the narrower tires and rims, I have to run higher pressure to prevent the tire from folding off the rim. With more pressure, the smaller tires have less traction, and with less traction, I lose confidence in my bike and I have to go slower through the corners. I think the reason "why DH bikes almost never go bigger than 2.4" is because they keep the same narrow rim width and put wider tires on, then the tire will just squirm and fold over if you lean into hard into corner. I believe DH and Enduro style bikes will start to have wider rims and wider tires (seems like they already have started a little) as time goes on and they realize; wide rims + wide tires + lower pressure = more traction, less rolling resistance, and a faster and safer ride. -KJ

@@Veloperator thanks for the detailed response, I left another related question on another video - would your geometry function with regular mtb wheels and tires for mtb application, specifically Jones bikes being more upright and having less loading by bodyweight over front tire? If I would run a Jones with regular wheels and tires would the front end be more prone to slide outs?
