Notes & Corrections ✅ * 03:45 The correct pronunciation of the English word “ignore” should be “ig’nore,” not “ingnore.” It wasn’t a proper comparison with Korean ㄱ받침 + ㄴ consonant assimilation, so please disregard this word! * 22:40 Actually, the fully standard pronunciation of the combination ㄴ받침 + ㄱ consonant is literally "ㄴ + ㄱ." (For example, 한국 and 전국's standard pronunciations are 한국 and 전국, not 항국 and 정국.) However, when many native speakers pronounce this combination, the ㄴ받침 often softens, resulting in an "ㅇ받침 + ㄱ" sound. This should be understood as a common native pronunciation rather than a standard consonant assimilation phenomenon. * The same applies to these combinations 33:32 ㄴ받침+ㅁ, 35:54 ㄴ받침+ㅂ, 38:38 ㄴ받침+ㅎ, 58:16 ㄹ받침+ㅎ, 01:02:05 ㅁ받침+ㅎ : they are more of a common/comfortable native pronunciation, rather than standard consonant assimilation phenomena. Their standard pronunciation should be literal pronunciation, pronouncing them as they're written. Even though the aforementioned combinations are not the standard pronunciation, many native speakers pronounce them as shown in this video, unless their jobs require them to pronounce everything accurately. Therefore, knowing this can help you understand casual, real-life conversations better. You can download the class note file here: explorekorean.net/absolute-beginner-lesson3/ 📖 If you're interested in my book, check out this video : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nShFk5-HIZM.htmlsi=N7y740TDAtbkYbnK Time Stamp 💟 Consonant Assimilation Introduction 00:00 Class Start: 03:09 ㄱ 받침 03:19 ㄴ 받침 22:02 ㄷ 받침 40:16 (+other "eut" sounding 받침) ㄹ 받침 56:31 ㅁ 받침 01:00:00 ㅂ 받침 01:03:26 ㅅ 받침 01:10:46 ㅇ 받침 01:17:17 ㅈ 받침 01:19:19 ㅊ 받침 01:22:38 ㅋ 받침 01:25:41 ㅌ 받침 01:26:26 ㅍ 받침 01:32:37 ㅎ 받침 01:33:45

I literally searched "learning korean" on RU-vid like a week ago and your Hangeul lesson was the first video to catch my attention, so I've been working my way through your videos since! It took me around 2.5 days to complete this lesson that too on a 0.75x speed 😌 I can only imagine how hard and time taking it would've been for Miss Vicky to prepare such in-depth content and explain it to us in a video. Thank you so much 🩷

The reason y in English it’s so much easier to pronounce n with l is bc in english, the letter l is pronounced with the tip of your tongue touching around the same spot as the letter n, so when you connect, it becomes easier to say. It’s equivalent to in Korean where ㅇ 받침 comes before ㄱ consonant, as those two connect bc ur throat somehow touches at the same spot when pronouncing

Such a hardworking and wonderful teacher to organize every single pronunciation rules!!!! 🙌 I know this takes so much time and work! 👍 이 많은 발음규칙들을 하나하나 다 정리하셨다니 정말 수업준비 열심히 하신 게 느껴집니다!!! 🤭 학생들은 귀신같이 알잖아요? 구독자 분들도 그런 것 같아요, 댓글들을 보니! 👍

I was trying to concentrate and diligently listen to her with sleeping brain 😴😪...in the middle... When she gave the example jungkook my brain started working and listening fast😂😂
