Lol basically people who has Korg pa4x/pa5x convincing themselves that its the best keyboard, and who has Yamaha Genos/Montage they convincing themselves thats the best keyboard 🤣 For me I have both and both have its own greatness
@@SuryoyoEntertainment Korg has something new for the PA5X, what they call Round Robin drums. My understanding is that it plays a slightly different drum pattern each time it loops that section. The other thing about Yamaha, on all of their sounds, is that they are much more processed. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, because it makes playing out and live performances easier because the sounds have already been set up with effects, etc. But, that'a double-edges sword, if you don't WANT that processing, you can't get rid of it since it's built into the sample data.
Well, I guess right out of the starting gate, Yamaha only has a 76 key version of the Genos, at least that's all they have on their website. Where can you purchase a 61 key version of the Genos? The polyphony of the Genos is 256, but it's limited to 128 notes of polyphony for the Preset Voices and another 128 voices for the Expansion. So, while you may be playing both sound sets, you'll only have 128 notes of polyphony, which is less than the 160 in the PA5X for the internal sounds versus the expansion pack sounds. Then, you didn't bother to mention that Korg has dual player technology, which allows you to have two MIDI or mp3 files playing simultaneously with the ability to cross fade between them, and something new for Korg is the ability to have two STYLES playing at the same time, also sync'd with the ability to crossfade between the two or to use both at once. That is something that, to my knowledge, no other manufacturer has. Also, with the guitar input, you can run that input through its own effects chain, literally saving a guitar player from having to buy and carry a set of stompboxes, and a multitude of cabinet types for amplifiers. Also, the drums on the PA5X actually vary in playback, more akin to Band In A Box, so it's not a static drum pattern, it's dynamic. As to the storage, if I want to add a 256GB or 512GB internal card to the PA5X, that most certainly will blow away the 58GB internal memory of the Genos. How about adding a 1TB SD card? On top of that, I can add the USB Flash, just like the Genos. The Genos is LIMITED to 58GB, whereas the PA5X goes far beyond that, being limited only by the size of the SD Flash card. Finally, in the U.S., the PA5X 76 is $1,100 LESS than the Genos, both for the basic keyboard. The speaker system for each is within $50 of each other, and the stands are comparable in price. For me, I can purchase a PA5X 76, speaker system, stand, pedals, a bench, and a 1TB Pro SD Card for less money than the Genos without any of those things.
@Chals Silva the Bible says that no man knows the hour or day of the Gathering. So, for you to say that Christ will come very soon is unfounded. You have no way of knowing, since no one but God knows when He will send Christ back. But, having said that, we can certainly look forward to the return, whether is be two hours, two years or 200 years from now.
Well it could be fun with an audible playback of simelar styles helt up against each other, so we first hear the Korg then the Genos. Because one thing is the technical specs, but another quite important thing is how it actually sounds. Thank you for this fine comparison.
Updated List of New Bugs Found on PA5X 🪳 ▫️ For musicians that use lower such as strings, almost 100% of us do, you cannot turn of the pitch bender for the lower. It will bend with your sound on uppers. This function does not work. ▫️ Songbook entry will not start on intro if your intro is selected to begin with. It will play the selected variation for a measure THEN go to intro as you saved it. Also you cannot select the songbook entry to the other player. Meaning if you’re on player 1, you may not select your songbook entry for player 2 and have it ready. ------------------------ 🔻 Estimated converting time from .SET to .KST: 2 hours (500Mb set) 🔻 Loading same set on keyboard: 20-25 min 🔻 Pads of screen should not act as a play button. When clicking on a pad on the screen, it should open the menu for you to select another pad like on every previous model. 🔻 Fill-in button after half of measure with your style on will play only your drums from the fill-in while the variation drums and accompaniments play altogether. 🔻 Home Screen needs mixer at all times. For live performers, we need levels of our drums, bass, accompaniments, lower and uppers on the screen the whole time. We don’t have the time to look and switch pages for this. 🔻 If your style is on and you turn on a pad, if the pad is more than two measures long, it will only start on the second measure. Regardless of when you click the pad. 🔻 When selecting a different pad, after clicking 4 buttons and pages to get there, it takes you to factory pads and not where the original pad is on your user. When you do select another pad, the volume automatically goes to 100 and the FX send automatically goes to 40. 🔻 Selecting a style is not fast enough. After you click on a new style while playing, it will blink a few times before it selects it. Most of the time, this is way over a measure and a half of the current style playing. This is not ideal for live performers. 🔻 There is no way for you to select the second style and have it in sync with the first one even with tempo lock on. It’s humanly impossible. Your tempo will match but you cannot physically hit the second style perfectly on beat with your first one. 🔻 If your pads are on while your style is playing, as soon as you select a new style, your pads turn off instantly. Way before the new style even comes on. 🔻 Intro 1 is not supposed to play your lowers when selected. Your lowers should work for intro 2 but not for intro 1. There’s a reason for that. Some peoples intro 1 plays a melody or plays different chords. 🔻 We should have a preference of not having the lists of styles, sounds and pads be in alphabetical order. People had these organized on the 4x into separate folders and pages. 🔻 If you are used to having a certain sound or drum kit you like on (user 1, page 3), you know it’s there 100% and you learn it that way. Not anymore, because everything is alphabetical order, things will move every time you add a new sound, pad, style, song, drumkit, etc. complete disaster if you know where your things are. 🔻 Acc. 3 freezes on the first chord you hit instead of chords you are playing. Same goes with some bass on styles. I’m playing a different chord progression, acc. 3 is stuck on the first chord without changing. 🔻 Some styles I made have drums or percussion that is detuned using my pitch bender. It will not play the correct detune until the second measure of the style. 🔻 If you are using quarter scale, this is not the keyboard for you. It will switch on and off at random. It’s almost like every few seconds it will play your quarter tone and then go back to equal scale. Non stop. 🔻 When making a new style, the menus for quantize, delete, velocity, cut and others are missing. 🔻 The bass should not be the first in order. Every keyboard since day 1 has it as follows….drums-percs-bass-acc1-acc2-acc3-acc4-acc5. 🔻 We need an option to customize your own keyboard. There are photos for every sound and drumkit next to it. You cannot select the photo you want when saving a new sound or style. 🔻 Website says we have 4GB and 8GB compressed but the keyboard shows we have 2.5GB. Not even close to what Korg is advertising on their website. If you think your going to have 4GB of space when buying this keyboard, you’re going to be extremely upset to find out you have only 2.5GB of space. 🔻 There should be an option on the main Home Screen from the drop menu to show only one style instead of two. Not everyone will be using two styles since they can’t even sync them perfectly anyways. It would be nice if you hold shift and play on the style for it to sync with tempo and for it to start perfectly with the current style playing. 🔻 When playing a pad that is a loop, a slice from the loops starts when you press the button. It doesn’t start where the loop should resume naturally. 🔻 If you start with a pad that is a loop (without the style being on) and then turn on the style after, the pad will be off from the style by milliseconds. Your ear will catch it and you know it’s not perfectly on. 🔻 When you hit your fill button, the variation will not go to the first measure, regardless if you have it set to start on the first measure. 🔻 If you have a pad that is an accompaniment or guitar, it turns off when you turn off the memory for your chords. 🔻 There is no Kaoss. 🔻 There is no option for midi to style converter. 🔻 Locked sets will not work nor convert. 🔻 If you have a folder with only styles, you will not be able to open it and view any of them. It must be a set folder for it to convert to the the KST format. 🔻 No support for EC-5. 🔻 For existing style, cv length cannot be changed. 🔻 There are factory styles that are still on here from the pa80. The house, dance, techno are not from this century. They are indeed what they say they are but not anywhere near the year 2022. So when you select dance, it is dance, just not this year. More like 1998 dance. 🔻 The screen, when all the way down, is not flush with the rest of the keyboard. It is slightly off and sits a little higher. 🔻 On the 4x, we were given a limit of approx. 15000 samples for 1.5GB of space. You are now given approx. 30000 for 2.5GB of space. Even though Korg advertises it as it giving you 4GB. 🔻 Korg needs to stop changing the format of extensions for styles, sets, sounds, etc. The person buying the pa5x is 99.9% coming from a 4x. And that person also came from a 3x and so on. It was already annoying enough that you couldn’t load 3x sets on the 4x without loading the folders separately. Now it’s just a jumble mess for people trying to switch over to a keyboard they thought they were familiar with. 🔻 Let’s be honest, wood sidings with a metal body do not go. Ever. With anything. 🔻 If you are from the balkans or middle eastern region and have a locked usb set, it will not work on here.
Yamaha should make a Genos 2 at some point. The 4GB of the Korg beats the 3GB of the Genos. With over 2000 sounds of the PA5X, that is far more than the Genos. Yamaha should also include the built-in USB audio interface like they did on the PSR-SX600.
This is all true, but let's wait for Genos2, because PA5X will be comparable to it! There is still a chance that the Genos2 will outperform the PA5X. It's true, I'm afraid of its price, not a little.
I would have expected the amount of RAM and storage to be much much greater on units made today versus units made 13 years ago. I would expect at least 64 gig of RAM and a terabyte of storage.
Korg- better hardware/ sequencer/ sound editing/ better 3rd party sounds / styles for middle east/ balkan/ southasian ( indian) music Still busy / overdone bass line/ drum tracks Yamaha - better acoustic sounds ( DNC still is no where near SA2) More free 3rd party styles than all other manufacturers ( korg/ roland/ ketron, etc) combined This is why yamaha is selling more than Korg isn western market ( mid east/ balkans - korg sells more) Korg may sound better since it’s revamped/ more ROM etc. acoustic sounds wise SA 2 still kills DNC. When you compare the styles ( for western music) , Korg’s limitations start to appear. Over produced/ busy bass lines, drum fills that sounds good on it’s own but they are in the way/ obstructing while you sing/ play solos. Most of the Korg supporters here are non western OMB players from middle east/ balkans/ east EU or from west EU while playing their ethnic music where Korg samples and ethnic styles are needed. For a western OMB player ( US/ UK/ English speaking or SE asia OMB English song players) , Yamaha is still the choice ( style availability) for the same reason. Korg needs a strong style writing department if they want to take over. Functionality Korg wins, hands down. You will start to see the problem with the styles later / you will find your self muting multiple parts just to get it right. If you are not middle east/ balkan/ ethnic music maker and who rely on 8 / 16 / country type 4/4 signature US/UK type music player , lack of style availability / busy fills / overcomplex bass lines/ drum pattens that doesn’t fit generic songs will start to appear and it will be too late to return the keyboard. Some of the PA 80’s bad styles are still there. Great editing/ specs/ powerful tools but style quality dynamism still can’t complete with even Tyros2/3. To Korg- please have a good style writers for western 4/4 music ( simple 8, 16 beats). Korg sells well in Middle East/ balkan / east EU/ Indian market but why Yamaha dominates in US/UK/ SE Asia? Style ( simple) availability. I wish Korg has learned, but apparently not much.
new KORG and YAMAHA model must be compared KORG PA5X 61/76/88 (Standard) X Yamaha Genos 2 61/76/88 (Standard) KORG PA5X ORIENTAL X YAMAHA Genos 2 OR KORG PA5X OR MG2 X YAMAHA Genos 2 OR-MG2
AWM is 8 elements (waveforms/oscillators). EDS-Xp is 24 oscillators with multi-mode filters. EDX-Xp is probably the most powerful sample player in a keyboard apart from VAST.
And the new model in 2023 is.. YAMAHA PANOS/KORG PANOS/YAMAKORG PANOS (Combining KORG PA, EK, MA, and YAMAHA GENOS, TYROS, PSR, DGX, CLAVINOVA, YPT, YPG, EZ)
Sir, In the case of Sound Quality and Use-ability of Sampled-instrument,,,,iS THERE? really a very big or far Difference from PA4x. I mean,When a Good sequence on Both of them are equally programmed? Becoz I agree its Better SOUNDING on SOLO samples PRESETS! ,, Coz I plan to JUST ADD one different Cheaoer Brand LIKE Yamaha SX700 To My Existing kORG PA 600..[to have a wider Selection too} Rather than Sell my KORG JustTto Buy a 4KPLUS! new! I need a better advice coz RECORD songs to DAWs more than Performing! tHANKS 4 Undrstnding!
First of all, I would like to ask since when has Genos been available with 61 keys? Second, what's the point of comparing PA5X with Genos? Why not compare it with the PA4X?
The Yamaha Genos is an arranger keyboard. So he plays styles The Korg Pa5X is an arranger keyboard. So he plays styles. here or elsewhere, you won't hear which one does the job best. Nobody seems to care.
@@nippynige8523 its small steps forward nothing huge in terms of upgrade even can be downgrade in some specs like no TC helicon in new pa5x or midi to style converter or CHAOS ? for sure pa4x will be more affordable now ;)
Korg PA4X is better than Genos, so I am sure the PA5X will beat the Genos too. What is this for a Premium Flagship Keyboard: Very cheap Plastic Body, a Diplay what is unable to move, no good Organengine (for Example: the "whiter" Organ for to play Whiter Shade of Pale) there are only two Modes for the Leslie: Full on or Full of, nothing between! This Keyboard is only for Home Musicians without Professional Claim! (I can tell much, much more Examples why Korg is the only One) Sorry to all Owners
You are wrong, Genos is suitable for home musicians up to professional user. PA4X is better than Genos? I can't even find a performance video that showing the final outcome that can beat the Genos.
I came from the EA7 and would take either of the top of the line Yamaha or Korg arrangers over it. The Korg PA5x is light years ahead in almost ever way. Most people also think the PA4x is a better option that the EA7.
@@mrchris8846i think the PA5x wil be better in some way. But the question is how much better. Im a 80s music player and love the sounds and drumcomputers from the 80s. You get all in the EA7. Some functions in the PA5X are already available in the EA7 in 2015. Why is Korg so late. And last but not least how much more and is it worth to buy an arranger for over 4500 eur. The EA7 costs 1300euro. For 2300 eur i combined my EA7 with the Roland FA06. And that is the sky is the limit.
@@mrchris8846 I used to play live with the EA7, do gigs with a five different vocalists, I am the band and they sing, We perform 80's covers. Prior I was using the Korg PA4x. When I made the switch, all five of them had the opinion the sound was not as good. I was thinking there might be something a bit off, but to have other musicians, non players, notice the sound and all of them at that, made me rethink the EA7. I have since sold it and now have a PSR 900Sx, trying to save up for a Tyros 5, Genos or PA5x, haven't made up my mind. The sound issue is no longer a problem with any of the vocalists. I guess there is some truth to why Roland is so far behind in the arranger game. I also got a chance to check out the new fantom, nice machine but way over priced. Can get into something just as good for significantly less. Roland seems to be a few steps behind Yamaha and Korg when it comes to arrangers and workstations.
