KORG VOLCA SAMPLE - How To Use SONG Mode - Full Tutorial 

Thanks. This was really useful. Like someone below said the manuals for these things are shite. You buy a toaster with a 50 page manual - it browns bread. You buy a piece of kit that needs programming and you get next to nothing. WAKE UP KORG!

i'm a new volca sample user, and i was see dozens of videos with cool patterns and i had crack my head thinking how they do it with only one bar. And now i found this. Bro, really thanks! i know this is a 4 year old vid, but really, REALLY thanks!

I've had a volca sample for 2 YEARS. and today is the day that I learned about Song Mode, despite playing it and watching numerous videos about it. Thanks man!

I just wish they would have given us sequences lengths that would be useful for creating a whole song, like 200+ bars, I feel like flash ram is so cheap these days, that it would have been no issue. Even better would be a microSD slot to store them.

Thanks a bunch! Been trying to figure out the Songmode on my Volca for ages. I think that the bad manuals by Korg are a big reason why people don't get the full potential out of these things. They get frustrated and they sell them. Bought my Bass second hand earlier this year. The seller had no complaints about the sound, so why he sold it? Because the programming was a pain in the ass. Luckily there's guys like you, who upload videos like these!

Active step looks very useful for live play

Hey! I'm pretty new to the Volca, and i was wondering if you could make a follow up video or videos explaining how to use all the tools the Volca has to offer?

That is pretty cool, you can have 16 different measures set up, running in song mode using active step, mix and match them with one hand then hit play to have them cycle in different combinations. I really just wish you could have active step work for different parts within a pattern, in all the others you can make poly rhythms that never repeat by taking off one of two steps from just the kick, in the sample active step cuts the whole pattern link, all the parts are locked...that's super frustrating

I bought the Volca Sample (rather than a drum machine) to make drum tracks to practice rhythm guitar to but without figuring out SONG mode it's pointless. Metronomes are boring 😃 So, thanks a lot for putting me back on, err, track!! 😀 (Well, until the middle finger of my fretting hand has healed...literally, but that leaves me time to play with beats.)

Is it possible while in play mode switching from pattern to pattern that the Volca can finish it's pattern 1st before switching to new pattern? sometimes i switch to new pattern and it reacts right away, i wish the pattern would finish it course and then go to next pattern as i choose..Can the Volca Sampler do that?

I want to know additions details about Volca sample, where do I find more videos like it?

"presuming that you've already know how to basically build a beat" - could you have any video tutorial about it? I mean not particularly on an instrument, but theoretically how a song build?! And then according to one instrument, eg. this Volca or Pocket Operator or any step-in equipment.

So now that I have the Sample filled with my one song...I would need to unload it to a recording if I want to start a new song, correct?

Ugh, its never easy, i watched this last night, got all excited to use my new knowledge to create songs with my volca sample 2, then when i try to, i realise that this is volca sample 1, and apparently theyve changed up how to use song mode on the vs2, so now i feel back to square one as there doesnt seem to be any clear tutorials like this for the vs2. Any suggestions/advice?

I can't seem to find all the sequences I make. So I save something to Key 1 and then it'll random be set to 02.06 and then some of the others I've made I can't find at all Edit: I've re-watched and think this is a missunderdtanding on my part. However I seem to just be missing some or pattern 3 is in spot 4?

How do you save your beats from volca sample to youre computer? For example, i made a beat and i want to upload it to somewhere.

I’m so confused mine won’t go into song mode, it just reads as nr.11, nr.12, etc as if it’s another pattern

Doesn't work on the Sample 2 unfortunately. Apparently they increased the number of loops you can save so all it does is load another loop when you press "memory" + "M 11" on the keyboard.

So is "Song Mode" a bit of a misleading term then? Because (let's say) a song is 4 minutes.... well you can't fit 4 whole minutes of sequencing on this machine right? You can only do 16 patterns in a row. So essentially it will allow you to go up to 16 patterns (each with 16 beats in them). Am I understanding this correctly?

when I press memory, it says load, not song....

Unfortunately on the new V2 the song mode dissapeared. Bad news.

Sorry, but I’m not familiar with this kind of KORG thing...does this work with Gadget or other KORG apps on iOS? I understand that it is a standalone piece of hardware, but that’s about all that I know...so enlighten me oh great Guru, Doug.
