Kosciuszko NP - South Rams Head 

A circuit of the South Rams head area.
Winter 2023 #9 : Dead Horse gap - 1760m plateau - South of South Rams head - Overhang outcrop - South Rams head trig - Return.
Distance - This circuit would be about 6 km long.
Walking conditions : Walking the snowy tops at 2000 metres using snowshoes.
Notes : A trip from Dead horse gap to South Rams head is a very fast way to 2000 metres. The snowy tops are beautiful in fine weather.
I should probably mention that the approach ridge is excellent on the way up, but is one of those bamboozling ridges that splits into multiple vague directions in descent. There are usually plenty of tracks to follow, but a compass can be helpful if a fresh snowfall has obliterated them. From the 1760m plateau back down to Dead horse gap, the general direction is south east. The line of the ridges tends to lead us more to the south. The footpad is completely visible between the plateau and Dead horse gap when there is no snow cover.
