Kosciuszko NP - Rams Head Circuit 

A circuit walk to the highest Rams head area from the Alpine way.
Spring 2023 #6 : Cascades car park - Dead horse gap trail - Thredbo Top station - Ascent to the Rams Head range - North Rams head - Rams Head mountain - Middle Rams head - Descent to South Rams head footpad - Dead horse gap - Return.
Distance : Probably 12-14 km.
Walking conditions : Tracks, meadows, snowfield crossings and the footpad to Dead horse gap.
Notes : The Southern Rams head range is a fantastic section of our alpine country. There are many beautiful outcrops, rock stacks, and towers of black granite, particularly near the North Rams head, which is the king of the pyramid Bogongs in this area. This is a very popular camping area in the holiday seasons, being so close to the chairlift access, and being so enchanting. In this circuit, I walk an anti-clockwise circuit, first ascending to the Thredbo top station from the Alpine way, and then continuing on to the North Rams head, Rams head mountain and the central Rams head. The return route is the track to Dead horse gap below the South Rams head.
