Glub Asuar They are NOT “idols” to me they are human beings who chose to work in the entertainment industry. I chose to be an RN. My younger sister and her husband chose to be doctors. My older brother is a pastor. My younger brother chose to work for a bank entering financial data. My older sister has her doctorate in nursing (APRN). See CHOICES we made in each profession/ job and there are RULES ON HOW WE SHOULD BE TREATED.....THAT RULE(s) should be consistent no matter WHAT line of WORK we are into and that includes these Kpop artists.

I want them to make an age limit for trainees and being able to debut, some trainers are just children, I think it’s so wrong for them to be put in the type of situations that adults are in complete control over them. A 14 year old cant stop an adult doing anything

BLINK in your area nah I think it should be about age. Half these underage kids are dressed up in sexual clothing on stage to please ppl. Some are forced to do sexual dances and sing sexual songs. Not only that what about their studies??? Kids miss out on their skool work and what if they do t even get to debut and spent all that time training? What then? They miss out on their whole childhood/teenage life and have to catch up. And if if they managed that, it’s still a lot of pressure being pushed on a young mind. This pushes mental health, it’s bound to have some consequence. I say if it’s ok with the parent of they r old enough then go for it.

@lunac548
@lunac548 5 лет назад
senika It can happen anywhere really. I was touched in class and there were 20 people in my class. They touched me quickly so that no one would notice. Maybe they were somewhere in the restaurant where it couldn’t be seen as well (like the back or maybe it happened while they were sitting down?) I don’t know but I don’t think they would lie about that stuff considering that they would really be hated on if they lied about being touched. If they didn’t like the company they would just leave rather than making up a story. Besides they would want to leave the company for a reason even if it was made up. I don’t know if that made any sense
@lunac548
@lunac548 5 лет назад
senika Usually if someone gives too much detail on something (unless for police matters) they could be lying as people usually don’t explain everything as it can make them relive the moment or make them upset. But some people do it even when they’re telling the truth. I hope that people take the case seriously. I’m just worried, because it was a woman touching them, and if it were a man it would be taken more serious. I hope they don’t treat the case like that just because she’s a woman. It’s equally bad for each gender.

There does seem to be some fishiness in this particular story which makes me personally hesitant. That being said everyone knows this sort of thing not only happens in the kpop industry, but in most entertainment industries in the East and West. Sometimes I feel guilty about being a kpop fan because of this. I don't want to support an industry who does this. But at the same time I want to support young Koreans who have dreams of doing music because its difficult to make it in Korea as an artist. And if I stopped listening to kpop, it wouldn't change anything. What is needed is a push to force companies and the Korean government to make more changes in order to avoid this. If anyone has ideas it would be great if we could do something together. If we're able to send BTS to the Grammys Im sure we can do something more about this.

This not just a kpop thing. You'll be surprised how many western entertainment industries sexually assualt minors. And many would just accept the assault because their brainwashed and desperately want to be an actor or singer etc. Their abuser is usually powerful in the industry. The industry can be digusting. Hopefully if more people bring light to abuse in Kpop then it bring stricter laws.

Unfortunately, countless kpop idols and trainees lose their love of music for all sorts of reasons. Lack of sleep, lack of food, lack of pay, lack of being treated as human beings. It shouldn't even be "common" for idols to COLLAPSE while performing. I've been listening to Korean music for over 15 years and before idols were constantly physically and verbally abused, but there are still many problems today that they're facing. There should be LAWS put in place. Korean artists are still in these horrible situations because they're in a money-making factory that's bursting at the seams. No matter how long it takes, it will eventually implode and the whole system will shut down. A system with old values never lasts forever.
@Thefirelordozai
@Thefirelordozai 5 лет назад
It's also the fact that it was all started by the government. They used a tactic called 'soft government' which instead of 'hard government' where, they'd enforce heavy law and demand from you, they'd draw you in with appeal and attraction. They started this, the least they could do is put rules and laws in place so that these talented human beings don't get hurt in the way they are. It's horrifying, they are loosing passion and their dreams because of disgusting people.
@mixooh1839
@mixooh1839 5 лет назад
Changing the law will be painstakingly risky since they don't want to have any financial losses. if that would be the case, continuing the system would be arbitrary. Everyone has the need to feed their moral duality.
@Thefirelordozai
@Thefirelordozai 5 лет назад
a r I hate how that’s true. Just as long as we can keep fighting for their safety. It’s such a weird concept for a government since we aren’t taught it when we are younger. There is so much we could improve on if we just had people know about this. We just assume every government works the same and move on.
@mixooh1839
@mixooh1839 5 лет назад
It sure is. As much as I want to neglect the harsh truth about our society, I think it is better not to know the implicit functioning of each cultural infrastructure to its deepest core. Alas, if that would to happen, it will be menacing for sure; Dystopia. There is definitely a time for change, either good or bad.
@Pumpkin0_0
@Pumpkin0_0 5 лет назад
@@mixooh1839 They could do it like in my country and just apply it to everyone. In my country they passed a law recently that people cannot work for more than 8 hours a day, unless that involves extra hours that should be documented and well paid for. Of course, there are still places that go around that law here and there, but at least the ones that are registered and/or under the public eye have to follow that rule. At least idols would sleep more than 3 hours a day or even 5 hours a WEEK like it has been happening for certain idols. These companies got used to it and don't care that this is inhumane. Unless someone is prone for it to happen, it shouldn't be "easy" to collapse while working. Imagine what it took for them to collapse WHILE performing. This is modern-day slavery. I sincerely hope things change soon. With PSY or Highlight creating their own companies or fans insisting with the companies to feed idols and treat them better, maybe it will happen sooner than later. Seventeen were being abused by their staff before, but fans spoke out and now they're treated better, so at least the companies listen a bit more.

I think it's very brave of male trainees to speak out about sexual harassment. It's never stated that just because the restaurant was public that they weren't in secluded area. It's possible this was done enough out of the public eye that nobody saw. However, if the wife was doing enough for the daughter to take notice surely the CEO saw and why would he just let her touch a bunch of guys inappropriately?? Then this begs the question. What's going on in practice rooms, one on ones with management? I really hope this isn't brushed under the rug.
@nekocookiee

In japanese restaurants rooms with a table - in a sushi restaurants traditional japanese rooms are very likely to be. They're for private meetings, to celebrate graduation or birthday, to have a romantic dinner etc. And I doubt that a ceo would eat outside one of these rooms.

I mean they can't even do something as simple as controlling their appearance. That's not living. I really wish they could be more open about their mental health, how they feel, physically. I mean, Kpop industry is incredibly hard and even the most successful idols had it hard. Every single entertainments has their restrictions. Of course there are entertainments who treat their idols well, but I can’t imagine that any entertainment would let their idols dating right after debuting or being above normal weight for example. I really feel terrible for the members of ATEEN and anyone else that has experienced this sort of thing. I hope that in the future, there are a lot less occurrences of this and that trainees can feel comfortable speaking out about these kinds of things. Overall, I just hope that such horrible things stop happening, because NO ONE deserves to be touched in a way that is uncomfortable to them, and NO ONE should feel like talking about their experiences will have a negative impact on their future.

It's a horrifying situation but honestly I'm not even surprised. I lived in Korea for a year and when you just hear about it through kpop and drama you always think korean culture is similar to your culture. But that's not true... Korean culture can be very dark and damaging and things like being groped in a public space be it for a man or a woman is finally quite common. This whole situation reminds me of what happened a few monts ago with the Seoul School of Performing Arts. Let's raise awareness on this subject and show our the support to the victims ! They are not alone and if they fight for what they think is true and fair they will make it out !

i don’t find it hard to believe that this happened in a public place. it happens to people a lot more than some would think. for example it would be in bars, clubs and even at school. literally almost all my friends were assaulted at places where it was easy to be caught, hell even i got assaulted in my own home with my family in the next room. i know it’s also a long known saying “innocent until proven guilty” but i am firmly against this. when i told my family about my assault even my own mother didn’t believe me. i know it may cause damage to the accused but imagine the damage the actual victim would feel if no ones on their side. not only that but there is STILL a huge stigma around boys actually being sexually assaulted and i hope ATEEN will stay strong as they go on! ❤️

I dont like the *kpop trainee system* . It just takes away half of their raw talent and manufacture them into soulless beings where they are supposed to execute whatever the company demands. Entertainment companies ,with the exception of few, only care about profit . Music has been so industrialized that it is used solely for popularity. There is no other genre other than *pop* that is focussed in this industry (Even tho there are some but it is mostly overshadowed). There should definitely be some changes to kpop...

Its internally sad that different trainees or groups or even soloist potentially go through this and we possibly don't know about it. It disgusts me that there are people out there who do this to young kids. Kids that only want to follow their dreams only to be faced with this. I hope whatever it is ( minor or serious ) it stops. It's just like this group called Eastlight. The members ( who were or are minors ) were abused by their music producer and a few others and was made by the CEO to be quiet about it. Which caused them to do so in Hope's of debuting until the leader of the group filed a lawsuit after telling his parents ( I'm pretty sure I got some of the story messed up, please correct me if I'm wrong ) So I can see where a lot of fans would jump to conclusions ( if this isn't serious at all....if) But I believe the more people talk about it, the more we know ( like you said ) and I can only pray that they are okay from now.

asdf ghjk how do you know that? Tbh you can’t be sure about anything when it comes to kpop and abuse, sexual harassment and even rape is not that uncommon. Also a lot of things are happening which we in the western world world deem as sexual harassment, which in Korea is seen as normal. Just look at the recent hello counselor controversy, not many people in Korea were outraged unlike people in Europe, America and Australia... sexual harassment is not the same in the western world and Korea, Japan or China... people here would freak out, if the father would even touch his sons private parts, in Korea it’s almost normal.... and this has to change, together with other things like how korean treat mental health issues...

I think it is because they believe the males are the stronger gender so that cannot happen to them. How wrong can they be? Sexual harassment can happen to anyone regardless of age, gender or any other factors. Sadly some often get away with it if they are in a high position and have money just like the wife of the CEO. It doesn´t make sense and it could be a stupid move. But, in other part, It really makes me doubt that the CEO wife did it in a public place as a restaurant, with a lot of people around theme (and also, the message in there instagram. It doesnt make sense that they have the power to enter there official account as a group). In some parts I´m also thinking; It could be possible to be just a promotion thing? , to make people look this group and have some atention, but that doesn´t make sense either. In any way, this needs to be investigate, if it´s true or false just police and a good investigation will determinate. This needs to reach atention , not just because the case itself, but rather because of what this means and the really big problem that this determinate in the kpop industry.

But I thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this video, supporting them and raising awareness about this, and for making other supportive and informative videos about similarly horrible events that have happened, from idols being mobbed to idols being hated on by antis. Speaking of that, I would like to suggest that you and anyone else coming upon this comment who really wants to help remove these horrid things from the K-Pop industry to look into Idols' Rights Defenders. IRD is a movement that is working to get rid of these things and to raise awareness about what happens to K-pop idols that we, as fans, don't always see or know about. One day, IRD hopes to truly be able to drastically change the K-pop industry and the fate of idols. Founded by an 18 year old French medical student who didn't like what was happening, now IRD has over 200 supporters, all who are K-pop fans wanting to make a real difference. I am only 4 minutes late. All of them deserve much much better. Finally, someone actually talks about this. Thank you.

PSY has recently come under scrutiny himself about his company. Sometimes I think it's other CEO/companies who "drop"info so as to do away others from forming companies or for Talent to leave and join companies. Some companies are fronts for illicit behaviors.It definitely needs to be cleaned up whatever the case.

Or they can sign to Zenith Company.. a company that debut/created Zstars. To continue their journey to become idols and inspire youngs to be brave.

2 years later and lots of people still don't know this happened. I hope they're okay.

I really feel bad for them. I hope they're safe and I hope they feel better soon. The fact that they're scared that this would ruin their chances of being performers is heartbreaking because nothing like this should make them feel like that. It's also sad that because they're a small group that haven't even debuted in Korea this is getting so little notice. Stay strong, Ateen! #justiceforateen
