@dee haek Don't sue the gas station - sue the fuel company. They've got the pockets and they *WILL* go after the owner, and he can't ghost them. They'll also stop delivering there very, very swiftly and sue the place into shutdown if he bought cheap gas from elsewhere while still having their badging. Valero is a national chain. Low quality, but still national. They've got lawyers that will work with the drivers to protect themselves from a worse reputation than they've already got.
That was my first thought LOL she said $500 oh no no no no no no no no. I'm popping out all print all the papers off of the Houston Court website and get to filing pronto.
There is absolutely no way that watered fuel or even a diesel mix would cause 7K of damage. Drain the tank, change the fuel filter, fill with fresh fuel. In the case of water contamination, pull the tank and sop out the fuel. Even with a tank pull this is going to be sub $ 400 .
@@bobroberts2371 Watered fuel could easily cause 7k of damage if pushed enough. Water gets into pistons and *boom* you've got bent lifters or even a cracked head, or worse. And it doesn't take running a fuel/water mixture very long to cause that sort of damage. If it fouls the fuel filter your car is saved - just switch out the parts, as stated, and drive on. Most of that cost being the labor and 'hazardous material' handling fines.
@@amzarnacht6710 Bent lifters? Call a shop and tell them you have bent lifters that need replaced due to water in fuel and see what they say. Cranked head? First off, there wont be enough liquid in a cylinder to hydrolock the engine and second, heads crack from overheating / casting issues not from hydrolock.
Probably a leaky tank. The water seaping in pools at the bottom and stays separate from the petrol until the levels are low enough to start pumping the gas/water mix. If they've only been inspected when levels are above that mixture zone then no one could have known unless they're the petrol delivery man or they go inside the tank and spot the leak.
I wouldn't put a whole lot of reliance on them. Our "Federal Inspectors", in Canada "correct" pump delivery to an average temp of 15 DegC (60 DegF). You get LESS metered gas because the average temp in Canada is nowhere NEAR that temperature...it's closer to 40 DegF. Consumer protection sucks EVERYWHERE in North America....it's even worse in Canada.🤔

How are the gas stations not responsible? In this country if you have money you're not responsible for anything if you don't have money you're responsible for everything.
You're 100% on point Taylor. There are a completely different set of rules for the wealthy. From the phone call, you can tell this Mo guy has never been called out for his bad behavior. Time for the rich snob to learn his lesson.
Hard to prove and he gets on a plane and heads back to his country with a pocket full of money and not a care in the world. Sells that store and relocates to a different Valero in someone else's name
Multiple $7000 vehicles the fine ain’t nothing that’s why on the phone recordings he said call the state he pays the fine and that’s it, hope epa gets involved, their fines aren’t pennies as the states you can’t let water in the tank or gas out on purpose or accidental
Add 2 zeroes to that at least and hold the company they franchise for over the iron as well so they will get rid of the bad franchise owners themselves.
@@darlanewcomb3530 The driver probably did stick the tank since he has to include the inches before and after loading on the invoice, but it’s the owner responsibility to stick the tank with APO2 water tracer paste on the end of his stick later after fill. The driver may very well of stuck the tank and it didn’t test positive for water at the time of fill, it takes several hours for the water to sink to the bottom of the tank after the fill. After all, the owner could have cracks in his tank and ground water is seeping in from underground. The owner will end up taking responsibility, you can book that! I guarantee...

They can fill it and it would still run out or jam, happens all the time! It is usually checked when they do the outside trash, limited number of employees in the store will not allow them to go outside every time someone says the pump is out of paper!

@texas legend Water isn't going to damage any fuel system parts in the short term. Water won't damage the actual engine either. What parts would you be changing in the case of water contaminated fuel and what specific damage would the parts have suffered?
When you have this many people complaining about the gas it’s time to step in and shut it down until it’s right. It’s possible that the owner was getting bad gas initially and not knowing it. But…for it to continue? Needs to stop and be corrected.

In NJ the State Police will investigate and can charge the station for each each vehicle damaged. They will have more than just a few fines to pay if they don't take care of it.
I'm surprised nobody has gone there to damage the pumps to mess with the store at all. People could probably file this to the insurance company if they have that coverage and the insurance could step in and file suit against the owner.

Why do we pay to get our car "inspected" to make sure it's road worthy when it comes time to renewal by the State while a gas station owner isn't held accountable for corrupt fuel that cripples a car on the road?

I hope they shut his whole business down! How dare he do something like this to innocent people and then act like they are the ones bugging him!!!😡🤦🏼♀️
This is actually a bigger problem than most realize. The majority of stations do not want to take liability or even acknowledge complaints in terms of fuel. The one I used to work at, would seep water into the tank underground. Every so often, a VERY angry customer would come in and complain about it, demanding we pay their repair bills. Our policy was to deny it/talk as little as possible about it besides saying it's beyond our control. I'm happy it is getting attention, because it made me feel horrible, with our location on a highway, to know we were probably disabling so many traveler's cars and not caring.
It has been raining a lot and if the drop tubes leak it can get water in the tanks but the tanks usually have an alarm system to tell if the water is to high. If they don't have this system then they should stick the tank every day with water paste on the end of the measuring stick. I turns a color if water is present. Then they would have to hire a used oil truck or pump truck to suck out the water. Now if the water is under the level the pumps it can pick still be picked up and someone can still get water if the station is getting fuel because when the fuel is dropped it stirs up everything. After the fuel is dropped in about 15 to 30 minutes the water will settle back to the bottom of the tank. Water is heavier than fuel. All fuel tanks have water due to condensation but usually it is only a couple of inches and the pumps usually sit at about 12 inches but not always. I never get fuel if I see a gas truck at any gas station. The owner could have had this happen or he was buying time to get the tanks cleaned and new fuel. Now if he has an alarm system it will give past readings and the state should know this.
Right, epa law they have to have the alarm system, the tank is double walled with a area for salt water between the two, if that brine solution gets less salty, brine , that makes the alarm go off, the lids you drive over and the caps on the pipe to the tank is main water problem they leak it goes into tank
Every time I go to a gas station the receipts at the pump are always out of paper. They do that on purpose, saves money. But I always have my debit card charge at the bank, so you can prove it that way as well.
Ofcourse NOT..they just want the owner to go out of business so that we can buy an electric car and wait 20 to 40 minutes every time we need to charge up. We are Not Patient people so who knows how this will all play out.🙄
Bad gas being sold has been a problem since cars were invented. This is not a Houston thing. Every gas station in the nation is run by these outsiders now days and not all of them are honest, or caring. Blame immigration laws if you get down to it. How did every gas station/convenience store/hotel/motel all become owned by foreigners over night?
Houston is the only city I have ever had bad gas given to me and ruined my car years ago. I have lived in so many places and Houston takes the cake on scammers.
Actually small claims court would probably be the best. Depending on what the limit is in Texas. Statements from all of the other people that got water in their gas would probably be enough evidence.
Folks, only buy top tier gas: Shell, Chevron, Exxon, BP and Costco. Costco is great because their petro changes over often. Try to get gas from busy intersections. And that fine is bs!
I was an auto technician for 40 years. From time to time it happens. Could be a leaky underground tank or other cause. If the gas station refuses to accept responsibility contact Valero then an attorney.
gas doesnt burn it is inflammable and only the vapors explode. diesel burns. gas with water will not explode it will burn maybe, and then after a second go out. use lighter fluid or kerosene
Now I go to newer gas stations, I used to go to Valero and Stripes.... when i would start my car would shake very harsh and turn off I had trouble starting my car it just wouldn’t start. We had an independent gas station in my neighborhood where there were card skimmers installed at the pumps. I was getting my gas there, and then was hit with fraudulent charges on my card used at the station. When the skimming devices were discovered the owner of the station said he did not know how to have the devices removed. He kept doing business as usual after the devices went public. Once the public was informed, many people went elsewhere to buy their gas. A short time later after the public was informed, the station suddenly was rebranded to become a Chevron. All of the pumps were removed, and new ones were installed. Many people thought the station should have been shut down once the skimmers were discovered, and not removed. Someone tried to get $1,400.00 out of me but the bank declined the transaction, and informed me. The card they tried to get the $1,400.00 out of was used at his station.
When I was 16 in the 70s, my boss showed me one of my duties. Back then, pumps often were long enough to reach one of the station tanks. The unleaded nozzle reached the premium tank. Yep you guessed it blocking my duty with a long rider truck after hours to run a few hundred gallons or more.

@phantasm I don't know anything about no rain water. Stick to the topic of capitalism. Look at where the business owners lives and where his employees live? Anyone wonder why these 8 dollar an jobs are having a hard time fulfilling jobs. A job is irrelevant if it doesn't pay a liveable wage and more importantly watch how the business owners side steps taking responsibility for selling trash gas. The business owners are going back to their million dollar homes and he is going to leave these people to get there own vehicles fixed. 2021 you better be a scammer, it's the.only way to get ahead.period
