People who are not from Louisiana do not really understand the Culture in Louisiana and the pull and hold it has on people who grow up there. It is a very distinct Culture and it creates a lifelong bond to the people there. Look at LSU Football recruiting. LSU can change Coaches and Coaching Staffs or go through troubled times but the kids will still come because they simply are from Louisiana and they love Louisiana. Currently LSU is ranked with the #2 recruiting class by 247 Sports. LSU recruits itself. Most Louisiana kids (black or white) grow up in Louisiana watching and supporting LSU whether they are from Shreveport, Monroe, Alexandria, Lake Charles, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, or New Orleans. They grow up wanting to play for their State and represent their families and wear the LSU Uniform. Kim Mulkey has that same bond to Louisiana and I am sure she wants to come home and retire as a Louisiana Legend. Her decision to come to LSU was not anything wrong with Baylor. It was simply the pull from Home when she was needed.

Kramer, thank you for your perspective and insight to a very difficult topic and situation for Baylor Nation. I can't tell you how disappointed I was when we heard your Mother was leaving Baylor to go home and coach at LSU. She truly lifted Baylor athletics to heights never anticipated and that so many have enjoyed. There are so many other feelings that can and should be expressed. Just know your Mother was loved for all she gave and created at Baylor. Your comments eases some of the pain of her departure. It also provides us with an insight into you as her son and as a man - something your Mother can be very proud. I wish the best for your Mother, except for when Baylor women play LSU. I also wish the best to you, your sister and family. Thank all y'all for being a part of our family - Baylor's Family. God Bless.

All Baylor loyalist love Kim. She is now in Baton Rouge where she wants to be. Good luck to her, but Baylor has moved on as it should. Baylor will be fine as they have hired a great coach. #SicEm

I followed Kim since she was in junior high in a little spot in the road called Tickfaw. I knew wherever she went, she would be a BIG winner. LSU should have hired her, or at least tried, years ago. I'm from the same parish as her, Tangipahoa, pronounced Tanch. Pa. Ho... Baylor still has our ex Defensive Coordinator as head football coach, Dave Aranda, so I keep up with Baylor a good bit.

True dat. 4 State titles in High School (Hammond High) when she was 5’ nothin in pigtails. Not bad at La Tech either.

If you grow up somewhere and establish who you are in that area, that's going to be home for you. It does not matter if you leave for 10 or 20 years. That doesn't change how you feel. That could be any state. Just happens to be La for KM.

Baylor's Athletic Director should've done the obvious..........Name the court after Coach Mulkey........I strongly believe AD and Coach did not have a good rapport....by what I observed with interview with Baylor AD..... #RoaldRealtor #RoaldRealtorNews #Roald

She grew up in Tangipahoa Parish near Hammond, LA not in north Louisiana near Ruston where she played college ball. If you’re not from Louisiana you don’t get it. Barrett, this is what she does for a living, meaning how she earns her pay. Who wouldn’t take a huge pay raise to go home. That’s a double whammy and an offer most people wouldn’t turn down.

Louisiana is still home regardless if we’re she coaches and you coach to get to higher levels in coaching so the SEC is a much higher level of basketball than Baylor let her be happy she probably would have take the Louisiana tech job if it was open.

Kim was the monarch of non pro basketball in Texas for years having won three national championships. She didn't have to share that top-of-the-world- honor with no one, she could bask in the glory in the heart of Texas all by her self. Then the men side of Baylor basketball won a national championship for the first time this year. NOW, Kim is going to have to share the honor and spotlight not just with someone somewhere else in the large state of Texas, but damn, with someone on the SAME campus! Damn it! Kim probably figures Dodge just ain't biggest enough for the two of 'em in the same place, and somebody's got to go. It is one thing to have a basketball champion in a far away place in the state like El Paso or somewhere, but WACO too! Now you have to SHARE the hearts and minds of the people of Waco. She probably figures she should be able to get complete, and all of the attention in a place like Waco. But no! It is not the same anymore. There's a new sheriff in town. So how do you get out of this situation, and how do you do it and have everybody believe you have a sound explanation? Home starts to look like a good place to go just about now. Who will question it? Like Texas, Louisiana is a football state, but like Baylor before Kim got there LSU hasn't won anything in women's basketball. Her Louisiana Tech has, but not LSU. She can re do miracles for a mediocre program and if successful can build a new legacy at a new place, and again be the SOLE claimant of the basketball throne. LSU's men team is going no where. Let's face it Kim probably feels somewhat less appreciated in Waco now that the men have also won big in town. I suspect she feels, but would never admit it that a sense of power has diminished in Waco. She doesn't like it. She doesn't want to be Mary in the equal power sharing of William & Mary of jolly ole England of yore. So "I'm going home" will surely be the cry to cover up a feeling of hurt not being THE ONLY game in town anymore.

She took the money!!! Home for mulkey was La Tech, not LSU!!!! She realized that after Ou and UT were bouncing that Baylor couldn’t pay her what she was used to!! I don’t know this cat, but he said he is a Waco and Texas kid but went to LSU!! Lol!!!

LMAO, tech wasn’t home or isn’t home for Mulkey, 40 min from Baton Rouge is home, LSU only paid her 500K more per year. That woman is wealthy, she don’t need extra money. She played college ball at Tech only, so how the hell is that home? Home meaning family, friends, relatives etc. Also, LSU is a tad bit larger brand than Baylor. Just a tad. 😂

Did you even watch the video? Mulkey left Baylor because of her wanting to go "home"....home to Mulkey is Natalbany, LA, which is about 35 to 45 minutes from Baton Rouge. Yes, Kramer Robertson grew up in Waco and went to LSU....he said he went to LSU to get out from under his mom's shadow and make a name for himself. SMH 🤦‍♂️
