Like electrocutioner originally promised but failed to do to Batman in Arkham origins. “First, I’mma kill you. Then, I’m gonna jumpstart your heart, and kill you again!!!!”
@@ioriyagami9982 not really. If you're heart suddenly stops your brain is still a live and you still have a little pulse. But after a few seconds or minutes that's how you truly died. Thor was able to revive kratos because he use the mjolnir like a defibrillator
He is a war seeker with no fear of dying, it's all or nothing for him in a fight, a true warrior and man in terms of combat. No cowardly traits, no dirty moves, I like him!!
@@xmannx9121 When someone isn't afraid of damage, battles close and personal without going back or hesitating that's pure fair fight right there, that's why this is my favorite fight scene of all time. This Thor really takes damages like a champion and he enjoys it😃 the way he constantly provoked Kratos, who loves getting hurt?!!🤔🤣
Well to be fair, Fimbulwinter had worn down whatever magic and upgrades he had in the first game and being a rage fueled god killer isn’t something he’s eager to be again, so yeah he’s not in top form.
God, the clash between the Leviathan Axe and Mjolnir... the way Thor specifically prefers to snap his fingers whenever he calls the hammer back to him... and the result of the weapons clashing resulting in a thunderbolt being literally frozen solid and in place. This fight is incredible, and hey, considering how the Axe was made to effectively "balance the scales" after Mjolnir was made, it's fun to see it finally directly clash against Mjolnir
@Jaeger19Ultima I mean, remember, gods get stronger as they age, so even then, kratos is stronger now compared to gow3, it’s that he’s become more mature with age and learned to control his anger.
the opening fight against Baldur from God of War 4 was god tier. and they’ve managed to up the opening fight and make it even better in Ragnarok. unreal
@@ilterciobrunodantas7494 especially when they clashed and made a frozen thunder strike and when Thor killed kratos and brought him back, those moments were nothing but hype
@@ilterciobrunodantas7494 recency bias. I agree this is better, a significant amount better even, but it's not "way" better. First Bauldr fight is still good. I think it's just that there are more stakes in the story in this thor fight, along with Thor being more recognizable, so it feels "cooler". The bauldr fight is still badass
Kratos started very far from being a good dad, but at least Atreus wasn"t all centered around his fear of his dad. As much as I have sympathy for Thor, he's a very bad dad.
That’s cuz Thor doesn’t even have an excuse for being so terrible to him. Zeus was infected with fear, Kratos was blinded by rage, but Thor caused his death just because Odin was just as terrible to him.
I don't think he did that to calm himself, if you ever had this feeling of "finally let it out", you would know what I mean. But that's just my opinion though
Y’all kratos fans just can’t accept he got his ass beat 😂 man died and got brought back to life for being a disappointment Lmao he officially has plot armor now 😂
10:06, I just love how Kratos raises his arm to prepare to headbutt Thor the split second he said "your boy." He didn't need to know what was coming next. Thor mentioned Atreus and that was enough to bring out the rage. Making Kratos a dad again was the best thing they could have done for his character development
Thor said "This feels familiar..." After the Leviathan Axe's ice froze Mjollnir's lightning in place because Thor was in a life or death situation against Faye previously who wielded the Axe.
@@oxiary That is only hitting at the leaves and branches though. They will regrow and things will get ruined once more. This is something that needs to be uprooted from the very foundation!
@@stealthboy5767 I feel like Kratos was just rusty here from not having proper armor, his blades, no runic attacks, etc etc. If he was fully equiped then it would've been more fair
@@stealthboy5767 who said that kratos is much stronger now stronger than his GOW3 self and state zues is stronger than thor is an iffy statement to say.
@@jaquanbrown413 it's not, Zues is the strongest in his pantheon, probably equivalent to Odin. Although the difference is, Thor is destined to die. He can die. Zues on the other hand is immortal and can destroy the world if he wants to.
I like how Thor is built like a real life strongman, and how accurate it is to the depiction of him on Norse mythology On one story, Thor drank so much of the Earth's ocean that he had reduced the entire world's water level by a noticeable amount
If i recall its def more accurate to his later self (hence the call out about modis wounds in one of those tales and game) . Younger thor still prob was akin to this design bjt more labor/work man based id imagine? (Source: a norse dude explaining some myths to me lmao i guess)
Bro I played this whole beginning of the game trippin crazy… and I had a jaw drop the whole time. They nailed the concept of what it should look like when 2 gods clash
4:49 I always thought Thor would kill kratos and Atareus would be one the new protagonist of the games to start Ragnarok and Avenge him. I was half right
4:54 Soooooo.....are we all just going to ignore the fact that Thor just broke the fourth wall here? Now I'm even more terrified of Thor than I ever was. Jokes and memes aside, this is literally the first time in God of War history that had a fourth wall break. (Second if you want to count when Sindri explains the whole travel between realms thing and then he pushes the camera away a little.). And it was done perfectly. I was getting ready to press x and respawn, and then I thought I would appear maybe in Valhalla or Helheim, or just switch to Atreus, but then Thor just says "I say when I'm done." and revives you just to kick your ass more. That is the most savage thing I have ever seen a video game character do and let alone while breaking the fourth wall at the same time. It's almost scary to be honest. It's as if Thor is aware of what's going on and he is just playing along, while at the same time toying with the player's emotions. Again, that's pretty scary (to me at least).
Bro this opening fight legit separated this game from any other, I thought the Baldur one was fire but the fact we all looked forward to Thor from the very beginning it made it even more epic. And yes In my opinion Thor is much stronger then Zeus My top 5 favorites so far in the franchise (I just started this game yesterday so it can change 1.Vs Thor 2. Vs Hercules 3. Baldur First Fight 4.Poseidon 5. Zeus
Thor keeps talking so big when he doesn't truly realize who he's messing with. Kratos single-handedly slew the ENTIRE GREEK PANTHEON because he was endlessly pissed off. Then he mellowed out and wanted to forget it all. But no, now the Norse Gods want a piece of him and all Kratos wanted was his own peace. Guess he's not getting it
Throughout this boss fight, especially during the first playthrough, I felt Iike I was fighting at a deficit the whole time. Had no advantage whatsoever. Well constructed boss fight, Studio Santa Monica. Well done.
Something that struck me much later on is why Thor was hoping Kratos would be stronger. Seeing Thor's character development in the game, particularly his relationship with Odin and the clear guilt he carries, I think he was hoping for Kratos to be something that could destroy him, similar to Baldur's hope for that Kratos would finally be the one to make him feel something. I'm probably not the first person to discern this but I felt it was noteworthy.
It’s possible, however it’s just as likely Kratos would have just returned from the dead. Very very pissed off. He’s a history of doing that. Considering Atreus would have been in danger, and he still retains some of the power of hope.
I honestly think he just knocked him out. I find it hard to believe hitting him like that would just kill him after the amount of damage he’s taken in these past two games.
@@bruhmanjonesss7779 Thor: " you must have some big old balls to talk to me about parenting. You killed an entire Pantheon because your daughter died. "
I’m with you there, that fight felt much more desperate and intense, even personal. And it was so unexpected, you could feel Kratos fighting for his life because he was facing an unkillable god
@@robsmith1163 After snapping his neck in the first fight i didn't think much of him, but when Thor threw his hammer and it clashed with Krato's axe and he managed to knock him out and then RESURRECT him back to life, i thought this guy is definitely a match for the Spartan.
Everyone said kratos wasn't weaker at this time and age, but he clearly is. Multiple people in-game even mentions it from time to time. So sad. Hope he don't die like the painting said ;-(
Not that he’s weaker, he is holding back in everything because he doesn’t want to be the ole god of war he used to be and spends all his energy caring about Atreus
@@michaelthornton2948 don't u think he's actually using his might when he shouts ''I'll send you to your sons!'' Midst of the battle? One single last punch was only the old him? It does seem like he struggles in every fight now and then :/
@@Bandit1877 nah I really feel like he doesn’t want to kill people anymore. At least that’s how it feels when he explains himself throughout this game. And this last last he probably was only at like 75% power and knocked out buddies tooth and he ain’t want no more smoke. He really just go full out unless he really has to now cause he doesn’t have a reason anymore like he did when he took down the entire Greek pantheon
