I've done several of these slide-out tray conversions by mounting the slides to the deck with bottom-mount adapter brackets. Blum makes a bottom bracket that works with all their slide types, and with some other brands as well. Eliminates the need for any kind of side-mount workaround. I guess everyone gets used to his own method. Like an old school, site-build cabinetmaker once told me, "You should be able to think of at least 3 ways to get the same result!"

People at home need to consider it an amayure installed the cabinets, wiring, gas line or water line to be careful not to screw or staple throught the back of the cabinets. Also put some cardboard or throw rug down to protect your tile.

Knee saver when working down on the floor: A 2' x 4'' section of 3/4" foam insulation. Much more comfortable to kneel on than the hard floor. You also get 4 of them from a single 4x9 sheet.

the point of these video is to show off as much jigs as possible not optimizing that kitchen to the fullest. its just showing what possible to do with the different jigs

Undermount slides would have been less messing around, just use the back brackets.

What would you do if there wasn't enough trim overhang at the bottom to clamp the jig?

On bottom drawers, there won't be room inside the cabinet to use the Drawer Slide Jig because of the cabinet floor. For installing the slides inside, you can do what Gary did here and use a spacer. The proper thickness may vary by how far your cabinet floor is below the lower rail. Often, the floor sits 1/4" below the upper edge of that lowest rail. So, using a 1/2"-thick spacer works great to position the slide 1/4" above the rail--the same spacing the Drawer Slide Jig uses. For mounting the slides to the drawer box, if you can't clamp the Drawer Slide Jig outside the cabinet, you can try a couple things: Use double-faced carpet tape to stick the jig to the lower rail, making sure the tab is on top of the rail. This method works great. If you haven't used double-face tape, it's incredibly handy to have around for lots of project uses. Or, rest the jig in place, again making sure the tab is on top of the rail, and then cut a couple spacers to support the outer end of each rail arm above the floor.

Instead of making that insert box to accomodate the pull-out shelf to clear the hinge, why not just drill the bottom hinge hole at 4 or 5 inches instead of 3 inches? ALSO, I've always wondered, if you are doing faceframes at the same time, but the drawer or door faces overlap the faceframes by more than a half inch, why not notch the faceframes by a half inch for the slides? cYou can make up clearance so the pull-outs don't bind by a quick pass of a router or sander, or do it on the tablesaw, plus your pull-outs can be a little wider.(an inch?)

matermark yep I had to do that one time, I used bottom mourning slide s and they made the drawer raised up half an inch so I used a dremel and buzzed out the faces to make the hole bigger lol worked for me!!

Any brand of oscillating saw with a wood blade. Allows you to cut flush to the sides.

The space between pull out shelf and actual cabinet on the left makes me worried about all of the dirt thats going to get there and how difficult it's going to be to clean it. Otherwise very nice video, very useful, I'd just cover this space or sth.

Because he needed clearance for the type of door hinge he planned to use. He covered that early in the video.

redriver08 usually the base cabinets are 24" deep, so 22-23" slides work with either the back mounting bracket or mounting to the side👌 upper cabinets are about 12" deep

No, a drawer has an outside face, a shelf is totally enclosed in the cabinet, moron.

@@markw3598 a drawer.... without a face... is still a drawer.... most shelves don't have sides and fronts to keep things inside. But drawers do though...
