Today we have even more Mardi Gras Goodness for this Carnival Season. We are presenting to you The 49th Annual Krewe of Pontchartrain Parade here In New Orleans. The Krewe of Pontchartrain is a long-standing New Orleans Mardi Gras organization that parades down some of New Orleans' most famous streets. Their parade starts at 9:00 a.m. on the first Saturday of the official 2024 New Orleans Mardi Gras season: February 3rd, 2024. Besides the wide array of bands, horse units, dune buggies, motorcycles, and jesters, our parade has featured some of Mardi Gras' most memorable floats, such as "Mr. Mudbug" (the world's largest crawfish) and a giant fish dubbed "The Super Grouper". The parade includes a band contest, and a new signature throw, the Krewe of Pontchartrain crawfish tray.

Mardi Gras' Best Parade Route • February 3rd, 2024 • 9:00 a.m: You're now in your costume on your float, rolling down Napoleon Avenue. The crowd is in a frenzy, screaming "Throw me something, Mister" and doing their best to convince you to throw them beads. You try to throw to everyone, but there are just too many people. You make the turn on to St. Charles Avenue. The band is playing, and the crowd is dancing to the music. You're throwing as fast as you can to the eager throngs of parade-goers, from kids on ladders to great-grandparents, all with arms raised and with one goal - to catch the beads you're throwing. You roll down St. Charles Avenue, through the Central Business District, and turn on to world-famous Canal Street, in the heart of the city, for an exciting finish to a fantastic ride. Mix your Mardi Gras just the way YOU like it: Mardi Gras isn’t a day … it’s a season. It’s not just parades, it’s also formalwear and coronations and dancing and exquisite meals and and dressing crazy and foot-parading throught the Quarter … and so much more. Some Krewes like to package it all up and sell you a one-size-fits-all experience. We all love the parades, but maybe you’re not all about the tux and ballgown thing. Maybe you’re more of a midnight poboy than a lavish luncheon. You want that float spot, but you’d rather bring your own beads and throws. No problem! We’d rather let you customize your experience. Your dues cover the parade and parade-day party events and let you add the Coronation Ball, the Galatoires Luncheon and Krewe beads and throw packages a la carte. The Parade: The Krewe of Pontchartrain is a long-standing New Orleans Mardi Gras organization that parades down some of New Orleans' most famous streets. Our parade starts at 9:00 a.m. on the first Saturday of the official 2024 New Orleans Mardi Gras season: February 3rd, 2024. The Route: The parade route is approximately 5 miles long and takes about 3.5 hours to complete. Besides the wide array of bands, horse units, dune buggies, motorcycles, and jesters, our parade has featured some of Mardi Gras' most memorable floats, such as "Mr. Mudbug" (the world's largest crawfish) and a giant fish dubbed "The Super Grouper". The parade's starting point or "line up" is at the corner of Tchoupitoulas Street and Napoleon Avenue (right in front of Tipitina's Uptown - the location of our pre-parade breakfast). The parade rolls down Napoleon Avenue to historic St. Charles Avenue and then to Gallier Hall for the official toast. From there the parade turns onto world-famous Canal Street and then up Tchoupitoulas Street to Poydras Street, where the parade ends.
