I agree could of been more empathetic. She would feel more at ease and speak more freely on the nature if things. As far as his citizenship they're trying to establish a backing and all. If he never came here, then this wouldn't be the reality of things. I think that's what they trying to convey to jurors without stating that. What they saying is not my personal opinion on this, but definitely something plausible when you have a juried trial need to set a sort of foundation for them to go off of when it cones time to give their ruling!

@@oliviarivera490 you're right, it doesn't change what happened but it did influence what happened because they were in that area for that reason. They need to establish why the couple was in that area on that specific day. If they were going to the grocery store to get milk the attorney would still need to ask her where they were going and why. They have to do this like Avril said so that there is no room for error and everything is clearly explained to the court. If they just said "we were there because we were going to immigration" then the court can fabricate their own story as to why - but the attorney asked about his status to clearly show why they were going there. It just so happens that it is a sensitive topic so it seems like an insensitive question but there are reasons for everything he asked.

No, it's not. It's a court of law, they have to be very clear and concise with their questioning so there's no doubt left in anybody's mind afterwards. The defense will be looking for any slip up that could let their client walk free. And they did not ask the same questions "over and over" How is it the DA's fault for her needing to testify?? If someone killed your husband and unborn child wouldn't you do everything in your power to make sure they got the harshest sentence possible?? Or should she have stayed home and done nothing about it?

Richard If you notice, the people who don't understand the process are all women. Women are highly emotional. If I were in court the last person I'd want on my jury is a woman. They can't seem to wrap their brains around the way the legal system works. As a woman myself I hope we never have a female president. I don't want some highly emotional woman who can't get past her own feelings making important decisions for the country. I won't even fly on an airplane if I see the pilot is female.

Showing the marriage pictures is actually beneficial to the victim, because it shows the judge/jury/spectators what she had, and has lost. It helps others connect to the victim on a deeper level, because it will put faces, and other emotions/stories to the victims prior to their deaths. They are all strangers to each other beforehand.

The prosecutor needed to show the jury he was a real person with a life and dreams.

@Lindsey L. The questioning was intentional and direct. Every question was asked with either overt or underlying meaning. The marriage photo was brought out to show what beautiful thing was destroyed. Also to garner sympathy. The immigration questioning was used to establish citizenship because their was grumblings of cartel activity being used as a faux defense. Also to show they were a responsible law abiding couple. The drinking during lunch and the decision by the wife to drive, was brought up to point out clear and responsible decision making. Something the defendant did not use. Causing this horrific accident. The funeral questioning again brought out emotion, sympathy, and detailed how hard this journey has been for her and the family. Again showing how much damage this accident has caused. The same people you are bashing are fighting the actual fight you believe you are fighting with this comment.

That's why they get paid the big bucks. They need to be able to completely look past the emotions presented in the case and judge based on just the facts. Just know that your complete and utter lack of knowledge of your own legal process is an embarrassment. It's the exact reason why I pray we never have a female President.
