Now that I think about it, it's really weird that most people were this surprised by Milak breaking Phelps' record. Milak went 1:52.8 as an 18 yo, Phelps went 1:53.9 as an 18 yo. They're off a similar build (as teens at least, we'll see what the future brings) and Phelps also improved hugely from 18 to 19 (his 200 Fly time didn't improve, but lots of other events did) and Milak focused on just the 200 fly for the year while Phelps expanded his range of events. It's really not that crazy, still amazing tho.
not the last 25. He was off from the 3rd 50. If he didn't take it out balls blazing like this he would've taken the European record here. The line you see at the finish was Laslo Cseh's European record (1:52.70). That time was actually his goal time for the year.
