This performance is “worth it’s weight in gold.” There are SO many subtle vocal nuances in pacing, phrasing, tone, and pitch, not to mention the acting CHOICES, that are all in this one video. She rarely, if ever, replicated these in separate performances throughout her runs. Wow.
This literally made my heart race. She is so intense and raw how am I just discovering her?? The original elphaba understudy! What a hidden gem! (Emerald ofc)
The Chicago or orchestra was thee BEST orchestra of Wicked at that time. I saw Dee in Chicago and I instantly noticed how on fire and different the Chicago orchestrations were from other productions. Stellar!
She was my first Elphaba, in Chicago, and I was blown away by this performance. Every line, gesture, vocal choice has real intention behind it. She embodies this character like none I've ever seen. I think my favorite line is "And nobody..in all of OZ", because she actually sounds like Margaret Hamilton, the Wicked Witch from the movie. I also love her arm gestures when she sings the very first Defying Gravity line. Brilliant Performance.
I Love how in sync they both are. “Somethings I can not change”, And Kristy points her down. Every action of Kristy has a PURPOSE. I love how she is singing, not just out to the audience, but to Glinda. Kristy is ICONIC.
I absolutely slept on Kristy, because this along with other videos of her show how absolutely INCREDIBLE she was. Her acting portrayal is one of the best I've ever seen as it's so nuanced, passionate, fiery and unique, and when paired with her super strong vocal it's an amazing thing to behold. QUEEN.
Thank you very much for uploading this video. I want to tell you that I have been looking for Eden Espinosa's presentations in Los Angeles for a long time, I am looking for the dates: August 4, 2007 - November 2, 2008, could you help me?
I believe this was Stacie Morgan Lewis, this was around the time I saw Wicked for the first time and she was my Galinda (in Chicago). She was so good!!
