Although Krita is now up to v 4, these are the best straightforward videos for new users that I have found, and I've seen a lot. I hope some of these are updated. Excellent narration, clear demonstrations, altogether fine!
helpful and to the point. I appreciate you pointing out which features are more or less standards in a lot of the industry applications vs what is unique to Krita.
3:43 There is a bug when assigning tags to brushes in Krita 4.3.0. Suppose you have a custom brush you've made, you've assign it to the tag "My Custom" and it's showing up in the Pop-up Palette with your other "My Custom" brushes. You then modify it some way and overwrite it. Immediately, it disappears from your Pop-up Palette even though it still has the "My Custom" tag. Save your work and restart Krita. You'll see that the brush has lost the "My Custom" tag. You can reassign it again and it will reappear in your Pop-up Palette.
For whatever reason, when I use my tablet and hold the pen down the pop-up pallete comes up and it is very annoying, so is there any way for me to disable it or take it off?
@Logan is scared no, for me it just stopped after a while. I went to settings and disabled the pop up palette. But there was still this thing loading thing that would come up whenever I tried to draw. I just reloaded the drawing app (krita) And it just stopped. I dont know how though.
@Logan is scared the same thing happened to me. After a while it just went back to normal. Its really annoying because I still don't know how the problem started.
great video! is there a way to have 3 colors to switch between? foreground, background and one more? or maybe a shortcut to walk through the color history?
@ thank you.I did this and realized I had it set to right key and that's why it was happening

@@mannapop6392 Glad you solved it.

@Mardisa Hassan Depends on which operating system you're using.

@Mardisa Hassan Okay. With your graphic tablet / drawing pad connected go to General Settings and in the search box look for pen settings. When you find it click in "Advanced settings". At least for Wacom you'll find a full window with tabs for different configurations for your pad. Please, let me know if you find it. :-)
Thanks for the video! I don't know if this has already been asked before, but do you happen to know how to insert a specific hex value color (such as #FEF5F0, a very precise color I often use for skin shading)? I have looked how to do it many times, with no luck...if you know how to do it, I'd be super grateful!
Awesome video !!! thank you very much, im having a problem, i use a huion tablet, and for some reason im not able to bring the palette with the pen buttons, i already played with all the tablet settings and nothing, i will appreciate some help, is kind of a pain being switching between the pen and the mouse... thanks!!
I have the same problem, I read it has to do with the way Huions are programmed. A work around I found is if you use the right click of the stylus in one of Krita's sub windows then right click over canvas the pallet will pop up. You'll have to do that every time, but it's still a little faster than switching between the stylus and mouse. Or you could consider making a keyboard shortcut for the pallet, though I haven't tried that myself.
You can't, unfortunately. It will always be the triangle, but you can bring the square colour selector by pressing Shift + I. I rebind mine to the Q key using Settings --> Configure Krita --> Keyboard shortcuts --> Krita / General / Show colour selector
it means that either your document or the layer you selected is set to only work with greyscale. This happens when you select a transparency mask for example, as masks only have one color channel.
I really would like to use the pop up pallete but it's really broken with my tablet. I can click the button on my pen to make it come up but when I tap a clor or brush nothing happens. I dont know how to work around it so I haven't been using it.
To specify it's a monoprice pen tablet display. I really like it otherwise. Maybey I should have dropped a grand or so on a wacom just for compatibility.
Check with the 3.0 beta, 2.9 has limited tablet brand support. And if your tablet doesn't work with 3.0 beta, tell the devs, they'll guide you through the steps to report the bug (they're currently fixing bugs until the full release)
idk if ur gonna see this but, i recently downloaded krita and it seems great so far except for the fact that whenever i try to draw (and i dont right click for it) the color palette shows up and disturbs what im trying to do, is there any way i can delete the pop up from coming any more or something? btw if this info is important; i have a huion usb pen tablet
That's strange. Did you download the latest version, 3.0.1? It came out last Tuesday. krita.org/en/item/krita-3-0-1-update-brings-numerous-fixes/ - Normally Krita supports Huion tablets, and by default you have to right click to call the pop-up palette. So if 3.0.1 doesn't fix it, it might be a bug.
I have a hunion tablet 680s. How did you manage to make the pop-up pallete work? I can't seem to get it to work even after installing the new update and Hunions new drivers
You can disable the toolbox popup by going to settings, configure krita, canvas input settings, then show popup palette and changing input options to none
