I really like this free dance and was very excited about this team back in 1995. But their free dances afterwards in 96, 97, 98, and 99 were all very disappointing for me with lots of skating far apart and little content. I personally don't think they ever lived up to their debut. I wonder if they could've been better under a different coach.

Linichuk is one of the worst ice dancing coaches. Her choreography for her teams is as bland as the work she probably did for herself since I heard she did the teams own choreography in her and her hubbys skating career.

@@tylerbam7183 I agree. I did once read years ago that the one program that she didn't choreograph was Grishuk & Platov's 1995 quickstep OD. I'm not sure if that's true but if it is, it might explain why it was so good!!! It seems to me from my view is that Linichuk's teams tend to be very aggressive, skate very quickly, and they often skate very well rehearsed programs. But their basics are nothing to write home about. I think that's why Grishuk & Platov did so well in spite of being coached by Linichuk for so many years. They learned their basics from Natalia Dubova before the inner politics of the Dubova camp pushed them out into the Linichuk camp.

@@gk891 Grishuk & Platov's Blues FD also wasn't choreographed by Linnichuk (and according to Oksana's interview they had a lot of problems with Linnichuk afterwards, because she did not liked that they invited shanti rushpaul to do a choreography)

@@MsRumex That's correct. When I wrote this comment, I neglected to mention their 1993 free dance which was choreographed by the great Shanti Rushpaul. And again, it would explain why that free dance was so good! Linichuk's programs, OTOH, tend to start off as interesting ideas but they are typically very open in terms of the handholds, are aggressively banal, and lacking in any type of subtext or subtlety.

@@MsRumex I also once read that Linichuk was furious with Grishuk when she left her camp to skate with Platov under Natalia Dubova and saw it as a betrayal. When Grishuk was kicked out of Dubova's camp, Karponosov had to convince Linichuk to take her back because Linichuk at first refused to.
