This is why I love the red dwarf fan community, no one gives this first Kryten any grief because this was a really good episode! And while we all love Rob as our Kryten, David Ross gave it a good go for the first try 😊 especially with the “what you got?”
@@PureGoldNeverCorrodes I mean Rimmer was going on about heiracy shit. While taking the piss out of the "Alpha" and "Sigma" types it slightly leans centre-progessive but a subtle enough way that few notice
@@freyamiles3718 yeah, since making that comment I’ve learned that all art is political, but you get what I mean where it lets you figure it out yourself (or not) instead of spelling it out for you.
I noticed something different between the two Krytens -- David Ross (featured here) and Robert Llwellyn. It was said that Lister rebuilt Kryten before season 3 had come, but could not capture his original design. They also didn't mention that the original Kryten was left-handed, while the newer Kryten was right-handed.
Thats a little nugget I never new, thats kool, I think there was something like that for Holly becoming Hilly / Holly, where he wanted to try again as a girl AI, but Im not sure, might of being a friend telling me BS back in the day.
Corey Engdahl, you can find all available Red Dwarf on Netflix. I've been watching Red Dwarf since it first aired in the United States in the 1980s. Very funny. I also own all available on NTSB DVD. Great comedy.
1:18 talk about commitment to good comedy: keep in mind that for this joke to work somebody actually had to create that painting and probably spent ages painting Rimmer's legs.
I love Kryten - based on The Admiral Creighton, the butler in JM Barrie’s story. Love the original tuxedoed, made up Kryten, but prefer Robert Lleywellen. At least David Ross was brought by the talking toaster. Great scripts with great actors. Not surprised the US version didn’t take off, what were they thinking!! I’m now getting my box set to binge watch.
To the one person who disliked this video... "Via patro estis babuino la pugo kaj via patrino pasigis la plejparton ŝia vivo kontraŭ muroj kun maristoj." (from earlier in the episode)
"Your father was a baboon's rump and your mother spent most of her life up against walls with sailors." (I'm glad I'm not the only one who learned Esperanto *just* to translate that!)
I always reasoned that it was strangely appropriate because he was on a crew with several women. I can imagine the women flirting with him, putting lipstick on him so that he was ’one of the girls'.
It would have been nice for the continuity, If they could have included the original actor as one of Kryten's 3 spare heads! I can't find a good clip of him arguing with them in the supply closet.
The way rumours painting looks so proud and magnificent sitting on the toilet!😅😄😁😅😊😂 it’s a pity they didn’t show the bit at the end where it goes back to Rimmer’s face that’s absolutely petrified with fury!😃😁😅😄😃
Guys i need help here...i already know the story by seeing the intro in series 3 episode 1 but just seeing Kryten there out of the blue makes me feel like ive missed an episode?
This was Kryten's first appearance. Between season 2 and 3 Red Dwarf, through Holly's senility, went in a circle and Lister found Kryten had crashed into an asteroid, he rebuilt him into the Kryten we know.
@@dependencyonlove8751 Normally I agree, it's annoying when people drag politics into every comment thread, but you have to admit that was actually a pretty good analogy.
