A compilation of my 10 favourite moments from Red Dwarf, This is my first video so please don't be too harsh :D. I do not own Red Dwarf (obviously)this video was done purely for entertainment, all rights go to BBC.
**Cat:**What, am I the only sane one here? Why don't we drop the defensive shields? **Kryten:**A superlative suggestion, sir, with just two minor flaws. One: we don't have any defensive shields. And two: we don't have any defensive shields. Now I realise that, technically speaking, that's only one flaw; but I thought it was such a big one, it was worth mentioning twice.
Kryten: Sir, you lost Starbucks in a poker game? Lister: Relax man, there is an upside. Kryten: How can there possibly be an upside? Lister: I lost Rimmer too.
I'm convinced one reason my kids today are so highly intelligent and well balanced adults was as kids they watched every episode of Red Dwarf weekly all through their formative years.
So did my son. He was brought up watching this and has a huge collection. I also converted one boyfriend and a husband! 😂 oh and my son has an IQ of 132, all from watching Red Dwarf I like to think!
Choosing a top ten best bits of Red Dwarf is like choosing which dollar of your lottery winning is the best one. You have to watch the complete thing (which, strangely, I have on DVD).
I got the complete old seasons on DVD about 4 years ago, girlfriend moaned at me etc" why are you buying DVDs ". Then netflix remove it... Who's laughing now?
“Today’s fish is trout à la crème. Enjoy your meal. Fish Today’s fish is trout à la crème. Enjoy your meal. Fish Today’s fish is trout à la crème. Enjoy your meal. Fish Today’s fish is trout à la crème. Enjoy your meal. Fish Today’s fish is trout à la crème. Enjoy your meal. I will.”
"Cmon lads, we need to figure out a way to get outta this HELL hole! Cat? Pass me the Champagne. Kryten? Hand me some Caviar." Great episode with a lot of good scenes, defo!
One of the greatest shows of all time. Twenty five years after I initially began to watch it on Georgia Public Broadcasting it still makes me so happy to see these guys.
I'm from the U.S. of dysfunctional America 🇺🇸 and I used to watch Red Dwarf all through the 90s and was a huge fan. Thanks for the internet we can still watch and enjoy Red Dwarf which is a gem of a show.
"Top 10 lists are banned under Space Corps Directive 14637" "14637: No member of the Space Corps may carry more than 14 pornographic magazines onto the shuttle for shore leave?"
Rimmer: Now this 3-dimensional sculpture in particular is exquisite. Its simplicity, its bold, stark lines. Pray, what do you call it? Legion: The light switch.
My favorite moments from Red Dwarf are both from Parallel Universe. 1) The morning after when Rimmer teases Lister about possibly being pregnant. 2) When they do the pregnancy test and Rimmer says 'come on you reds!' and 'I'm going to be an uncle'.
The final gag in "Backwards" - Where's Cat?.... Oh he had to...you know, go in the bushes.......Oh, hell, no. We gotta stop him...Quick! (Cat, standing bolt upright, all his hair on end with VERY surprised look on his face.) Don't nobody say nothing...Ever.
This was such an excellent programme. I have never been able to take anyone called Dwayne seriously since that episode though. The name just makes me grin still.
Aussie here, who had adored this show for so long, but Mr Flibble scared me even though I was an adult. Still does! One of the best British comedies of all time and my absolute favourite!! Long live The Dwarf!!
I remember when Star Trek voyager first came out, it’s a spaceship lost millions of miles from earth with a holographic character. Me and my mates just looked at each other and went ‘that’s red dwarf then’
I still reckon Kryten was inspired by Data. In fact one of the jokes in the show kind of hammers that in, when Kryten says to Lister "is this the human value you call friendship?" and Lister responds with "Don't give me this Star Trek crap Kryten, it's too early in the morning!"
Not bad. Mine would be; 1. Tongue tied 2. Rimmer's speech and Lister collecting his guitar at the end of 'Marooned' 3. C.L.I.T.O.R.I.S from 'Polymorph' 4. "Shoot him in the back" from 'Justice World' 5. "You make love like a Japanese meal" from 'Holoship' 6. QUEEG 7. " But I was only gone 5 minutes" from 'Kryten' 8. Rimmer confronting Huzden in 'Last Day' 9. Rimmer inspecting his troops min 'Wax World' 10. Any speech by Confidence in 'Confidence and Paranoia'
From unpromising starts, Red Dwarf went on to be the highest calibre of British classic comedy. It almost doesn't need to do more. The modern episodes are almost like new AC/DC albums: nobody necessarily needs them, but we have overwhelming warmth towards them still being around.
Z SB I know. Absolutely hilarious! I hope all sorts of criminals hand me money but fruitless if have salespeople mugging my things and handing me more currency in exchange.
There's a special place in my heart for Red Dwarf, I feel like I'm part of the crew. A Happy ending for Lister and the gang, I hope he finds Kochanski somewhere in space and time. Ill miss it alot regardless.
My number 1 is this from Holoship [Lister is mocking a hologram who has just insulted the crew] Lister: Lister to Red Dwarf, we have in our midst a complete smegpot. Brains in the anal region. Chin, absent presumed missing. Genitalia, small and inoffensive. Of no value or interest whatsoever. Commander Binks: Binks to Enlightenment. Evidence of primitive humour. The human displays knowledge of satire and imitation. With patient tuition, could perhaps master simple tasks. Lister: Lister to Red Dwarf. Displays evidence of spoiling for a rumble. Seems unable to grasp simple threats. With careful pummeling, could be sucking tomorrow's lunch through a straw. Commander Binks: Binks to Enlightenment. The human seems to be under the delusion that he is somehow capable of bestowing physical violence to a hologram. Lister: Lister to Red Dwarf. The intruder seems blissfully unaware that we have a fairly sturdy holowhip in the Munitions cabinet. [Binks looks scared] Lister: And unless he wants his derriere minced like burger meat, he'd better become history in the next two seconds flat.
Rimmer: Go to red alert. Kryten: are you absolutely sure sir? It does mean changing the bulb. Best line ever. Kryten: careful sir, this wormhole is about as stable as an italian taxi driver stuck behind two priests in a skoda. My favourite episode is Gumshoe of the apocalypse, genius.
I don't remember the quote but for me, the best Red Dwarf scene, at least early on is when they're on Wax World and Rimmer is giving his battle plan about the attack "Under cover of daylight!"
how can you have a top ten Red Dwarf Moments and leave out Ace Rimmer? And that scene where lister is passed out in the hall, and Cat smacks the table pretending to get up and follow Rimmer only to sit back down and keep eating, I love that so much, it's got to be one of the most original gags I've ever seen. I keep that in my pocket to employ on someone who tells me I have to come with them for some reason they are excited about.
A good compilation. It's Red Dwarf, it's ALL good! I personally would have put the scene where Kryten is trying to remove the Polymorph (in underwear form) from Lister. For compilations, I like 30 second bits. "Engage panic circuits...panic circuits engaged...BWWWWAAAH!" is something I can watch over and over!
I remember being obsessed with this show from 1989-1991 approximately. It used to air on PBS in USA. I found the book that gave the backstory at a garage sale or resale store. My obsession faded, but for some weird reason, the whole Red Dwarf thing popped back in my head. Would be a good binge.
I personally have so many parts I love from it I cant list then all. Nearly every episode has something hilarious in it 😂 but one of my faves just has to be the scene in season 7 when Cat makes the ingenious idea of disguising as the Dibley family 🤣🤓 I also love the classics like "it's a banana" and "Fish!" and "everybody's dead Dave." Red dwarf is the best XD
Thanks for the video, these are all hilarious ! Also love the first time they meet Kryten, AKA the android version of Norman Bates. Another one is Kryten's double polaroid...too funny !
Rimmer: This haircut was designed for action, not ponceing around in! Maybe a bit too severe, a bit too Green Beret. But you are how you look. And I look... *[sees the hairdo in the mirror]* Like a complete and total tit!
Such a great show, love the relationship between Kryten and Lister. I would put Ace Rimmer in the top 10 along with Tikka to Ride, knocking Lee Harvey Oswald out the window when they went back in time!
Another moment to add to the list / comment section: In "Justice" when lister and barbera bellini are fighting at the end and cat comes in with the shovel
bird man. why do they call you birdman? cos he really likes custard! why do ya think? I quite like that one. also like the scene where Lister comes up with the elaborate plan in the cell to escape using a pulley system going into specific details only for kryten to say "or we could use the teleporter sir"
Rimmer: Is something amiss? Lister: Hell no! What could possibly be amiss? Rimmer: Really? I'm wearing a red and white gingham dress... and army boots... and you think nothing is amiss?
HLG, thanks so much for compiling and sharing this. I used to watch RD on the PBS at home in Pittsburgh, and it always cracked me up. Havent' watched it in years. Glad others out there share my sense of humor! PS, I think you did a great job on the vid! ;)
