KSP2 Patch 0.1.4 is out. Mostly bug fixes and performance tweaks. ==== Patreon ==== Boost My Patreon! / swdennis ==== Music ==== (In order of appearance): Elevator - Kevin MacLeod KSP 2 OST ======== Thanks for watching!
So you’re disappointed about the state of an Early Access Pre-Alpha game which the community specifically asked to be released as a Pre-Alpha. Dude. That’s like asking for your steak to be made rare, and then complaining that it’s not well-done once you’ve got it. Not cool. We got what we asked for. NONE of us have any grounds to be complaining.
Yeah, seeing the rocket still wobbling around makes me really disappointed, that was one thing I actually found unfun in the original, my rocket wobbling around like a flaccid you know what.
Depending on how determined you are, you can get tons of cool shit into orbit. Patch4 improvements: Better FPS Undocking while paused bug fixed PAM less laggy (almost instant) Orbital decay fixed in some situations Navball colour coding for Orbit, Surface and Target mode. Docking seems overall less broken. As far as bugfixes are concerned, this patch gets a 6/10 Theres still stuff i desperately want gone, but the whole game noticeably improved. I hope science will be good
I don't think this game is ready for more content until this engine is REALLY ironed out. How are we supposed to go interstellar with these floppy noodles and still frequent bugs? Craft still randomly go into a death spin upon entering view distance while trying to dock etc.
for the developer team, wobble rockets is the way to go... You can not fix something that is wrong from concept unless someone fire all lead developers.
Definitely been improving, But Like you said.. Would be nice for some more Content. Can't Wait for the Science update honestly, Let's just hope that when it comes out it doesn't Obliterate all the Fixes and Optimization they have done so far..
im not even considering buying this until career is out personally, even then id likely wait for a huge sale. Not very hopeful for this but maybe they'll pull a No Man's Sky
I'm not buying until colonization. Its the only thing KSP 2 promised that I can't just do in KSP1 with mods. (Yes EPL exists but what KSP2 promiaed would actually just be doing it better)
It's acceptable. I have constructed this extra long and unstable rocket. And it didn't break. The shorter, normal version of it is just fine. Before it broke down just standing on the launch pad
Yeah, maybe later. I wasn't in the mood to test all this. KSP2 is not exactly a joy to play and test. Especially if these videos get very few views anyways.@@DavideDF
@@SWDennis Real-life rockets got similar, if not bigger length-width ratio and they don't appear to wobble at all.... unless they are just about to break apart and explode.
It was also a little disconcerting that they mentioned disabling a few effects settings in the change log. If they're already doing that to improve performance, that's terrible sign of things to come, I hope I'm wrong.
So disappointed with the lack of content after 6 months. It's basically the exact same game that I played on day 1. Never mind the awful issues with wobbly rockets..
It's normal that they fix the bugs before, if they don't, they can move those bugs into other parts and make it harder to fix later. The slow but steady aproach I think it's the optimal thing to do
I launched an SSTO in 0.1.4, first time I had fun in KSP2. Planes seem to have more wobble tolerance, I launched a mid to large size rocket right after and immediately alt-f4'd because it was wobbling like crazy.
The fact they basically copy pasted KSP1s code (which is why it contained several awful bugs from the original game) and even with that head start took 3-4 years to reach this point of bare bones trash says a lot about the devs.
The part manager is working a little too well, seems a little too good to be true. It leaves me wondering what they turned off to get it running so smoothly or is it cleverly only loading the settings for the parts you clicked on and just listing the rest.
that one booster flying off on its own was exactly what I was expecting, well, I actually expected more of them to do that but it was due to a lack of struts according to Dennis
The thing is that I get it’s early access, but when the game was advertised with colonies, interstellar travel, etc and we saw these in the trailers, was it too much to ask to have on launch?
Kind of like how Ancient Cities was advertised to be this all encompasing Dawn of Man killer, and all it turned out to be was a rock and stick gathering simulator.
I'm honestly baffled that this game was supposed to come out in 2020. If THIS is what we get after 3 years of delays, then what the hell did they have back in 2019 to make them go "Yes this looks ready to release in a year or so"
instead of complaining actually inform yourself, that comes with the next big update where also science mode is implemented. jesus, always just complaining like babies but refusing to inform themselves
If I have to make a decision for a new campaign RIGHT NOW ? I'd play KSP1 (modded with like outer planet's mod). KSP2 still have a looooooooooooo... oooooooooooooo ... ooooong way to go before it's even remotely ready for me to even go do stuff on the Mun or Duna.
bugs arent the worst thing about the game. For me it is how they cement everything. I want to be able to change the controls! Every game lets you change controls, why not this one?
Do we have any info on wtf is going on? This is such a weirdly slow update pace and the amount of issues being fixed per update doesn't make up for it, just like before launch they had years to be further along in development, WHAT are they spending their time on?
never heard anyone disliking the launcher. my computer, even though new in 2015 - 2020 (hardware from both) is good enough to at least start that game within seconds. just get yourself an M2 nvme ssd like everyone else. it aint expensive if you know what you are doing. new games are meant to be played AT LEAST on new drives.
the fact of the matter is a game like kerbal is a incredibly complex thing to develop from the ground up compared to most other games. The problem is more the devs didn't give themselves enough time to make it, but equally i guess they probably would have struggled to get funding in the first place if they knew it'd take this long.
Thats not going to happen sadly. I think Take Two is already cutting funding because the game is now "released" and it didn't perform as well as the higher ups expected. They are going to axe development entirely within two years without having completed all of their goals, you will have interstellar travel, you probably wont have multiplayer that is worth playing. Maybe modders can eventually make the game feature complete, but don't expect a miracle. This is going to turn out just like DayZ, the original Early access fiasco. In the end you will have a game with less content and more bugs than the original, features in the game will come and go to be "reworked", only to never return etc.
The developers are still obsessed with wobbly rockets, and still willing to let this game die becausse of their refusal to remove or even offer atoggle for turning of wobbliness (which would incidentally also improve FPS, as the parts of the rocket could almos be simulated as a single unit, like in juno Space Origins). I hope they enjoy their wobbly rockets, given that they destroyed the game and their reputation for it.
My honest opinion is delete this game, start again from scratch with the actual goal of improving what needed to be improved in ksp1, and that is performance and better mod support, let modders do the rest because they seem to be doing a way better job. also are they seriously hopping to make interstellar travel a real thing with an engine that doesn't have enough performance to handle a craft with more than 300 parts?
I am still just dissapointed. Only thing I was really looking forward to was official multiplayer, and that still seems to be but a promise. I think they took the wrong approach in every conceivable way. The new kerbals just feels off, I would much have prefered a Kerbal Von Braun instead of whatever the hell squeaky voiced kid they put as the voice actor in the tutorials. Everything about the game just smells like cash grab from people who have less than 20hours in the original game.
Ksp 2 is the best, I hate that the community hates it because ita bug-y I'm mean it's still in early access and way before the launch, marketing team needed a game in the store to keep the funding going on hopefully this game will love up to itself.
yall complain about wobbly rockets - never had that problem to this extend. i mean, if you expect it to work with no struts at all, sorry to disappoint you but that never worked. maybe wasnt as drastic as here still is but come on. you also have no clue about development. it takes time to fix stuff. adding new content is OBVIOUSLY and ALWAYS for EVERY game studio that cares about the product, the LAST step. because they dont want an unfinished buggy game to add on to. and its early access. you will say to me again "oh but you protect them, ea doesnt mean its this shitty" just shut up. that says all about how much you know about game development. only cuz big publishers dragged the tream early access through the dirt and didnt treat it right, that doesnt mean that it is with normal publishers. ksp always had a LOOONG EA phase. it didnt have these kinda bugs as much, but it was a really old engine etc with worse graphics. its obvious that the newer the tech/software etc you use, the better and more complex you make it, the more will be buggy at the beginning phase. if they launch it now in EA or wait years and publish it finished, believe it or not the second would be worse. because they would have to guess what way we would like it most. but now, for all the oldschool ksp fans who were already with the EA in ksp1, they can yet again dictate the entire progress and also accelerate bug fixing and patches because more are being found faster through players. people treat this like No mans sky and cyberpunk while forgetting, those games never were EA. they were finished and then said to be done and only after huge backlash, said to be updated. this was EA from the launch day.
still, that wobble makes the game look incredible stupid. Is not even funny.. lucky for me I did not bought it. The whole game is too arcade for my taste. You can fix bugs or anything.. but you can not fix a bad concept if the ones behind are the project leaders.
did not buy it, or haven't bought it.* too arcade-like* also its not "arcade-like" its playful. which is literally what ksp is about. not to take itself too serious. only bad thing about this is that people dont know how to use colors correctly and make the ugliest rockets
@@zero.Identity I dont care about colors, that is the choice of each player. I like the first KSP excepting the "lego" approach, I always wanted a procedural approach. This force us to have several hundreds of parts that eat a lot of PC resources (loading and calculating those parts) and time spent finding the parts, this also limited our creativity. Another thing that I did not like from the first version is lack of extra realism about economy progression, science, life support, etc. We had mods, but I never find a kit of mods to provide the experience I was looking for. Now on KSP 2 everything seem even worst. I understand that some people might like all this.. Well. that is not me.. So good luck with the wobble rockets and lack of realism in other areas. Once you start to learn about physics and you really want to test some mission concepts, the lack of realism will kill your mood.
Glad I never bought it. Loved KSP1.... but.. well.. unless there is content and multiplayer, I don't see a reason to even bother with this one.... and those floppy rockets make me want to kick a baby. that will be the first thing i mod if i get it.. realistic rigidity.
