8 September 2013 Cuz Tree weekend. Playing with KTM 1190 ADV R (Off-road version) on the road - HOW GOOD THE REALY IS? This is the answer ;-) NOTE: Standard bike with Acra slip-on only and standard on/off-road tyres.
It's all about the rider, the 22 is not for sisies , the rider is very competent and can clearly ride, but still a way of the pace of some of the superbikes that do that 22 in 8min , still for an Adventure bike its amazing, nice video mate enjoyed it.

Yeah he did. I can't imagine what all those guys were thinking when an adventure bike just flew by em?! Lol. I'm really impressed with this machine. From what I've seen online it's actually real off road capable too!
Yeah AkDeluxeRider I agree, they must have been thinking .. Holy damn .. I've been thinking of what I would want for my 2nd main bike, been looking at videos of these.. I love the split nature.. Although I doubt I would drag my balls on the back of the bike as hard as this guy ...
Haha, I still can't wrap my head around an Adventure bike hitting the curves that hard and that low! Of course I've never owned or ridden one with multiple ride settings and 140-150hp either! This would make a mighty fine addition!
The picture of the bike at the very beginning shows it with street tires. It would've been nice to see he tires after the ride to show that they were the stock knobby tires.
I think you are a lot faster than your friends! Even the regular 1190 adventure couldn't keep up with you, and it has street tires and (I think) better road gearing! Is this in South Africa? I never knew Africa had such beautiful evergreen forests.
I live in Wales where the roads are less forgiving. These roads are wide and the bends are really gentle and most bikes would be quick. Try the Black Mountains in Wales or the Alps with switch backs then you see the skill of the ride and the best of the bike. Anyone can ride fast open roads and they are a joy to ride but it does not involve a lot of skill or ask questions of the bikes ability
You would be surprised how good this bike is and even easier when the roads go even tougher and less forgiving. I agree, this road was faster and more flowing and this was the point, because it should suite the superbikes better. Everywhere else this bike exceed the expectation.
in really tight corners the regular 1190 with the 19" front will pull away ... but lets be honest here as with all high powered bikes the abilities of the bike usually go way beyond of what the rider is capable so in most situations you wont really be slower with the R

Hi! great video! Is it true that at high speed (180km/h) the bike is unstable with the lateral cases (plastic and alluminium, not full alluminium cases)? I am thinking of buying one of these :)
I didn't have this problems but i do change the setup for the high speed and off-road riding. It's very easy to do, even on the go. I normally go 4-6 +clicks on the compression and 2-4+ on the rebound what makes the front harder and more planted on the road. Rear as well needs 2-3 turns (big adjuster under the seat only) to stiffen and it will help with good feel of the front and the bike is ready to go fast ;-) All of the above you can do it on the run not even slowing down. Only time i had the problems with the front is when the top pinier was installed on the bike but even then with the suspension setup right i manged 246km/h on the clocks but the bike was a little unstable :-P
@@stbtaxi4203 you'll need a tyre that can handle fast riding at 100+mph and high lean angles like this video but still have dirt capability. most knobby type tires have a speed limit around 85-100mph. even new tkc rocks has speed rating of only 112mph...4th gear... :-). need v or w speed rating. continental trail attack 3 speed rating 149mph :)
excellent video proving that the adventure 1990 can be very very sporty with an awesome rider.......but the video was fucked up at the end with that stupid president touching and spoiling ktm's publicity.
