Spectacular high - precision reconstruction based on excellent cutting machines. Also when using simple tools, which proves professionalism! Congratulations :).
What pisses me off about most people is that when I say that a head can be fixed they tune me their bull ,and here this guy is doing what I've been trying to do for years if they just would alow me to show that a blown head can be fixed ,thx mate who ever you are
It is amazing what you can do if you believe you can. My customers call me a wizard because i do what they didn't think possible. It not my knowledge that is great it is their's that is lacking. It all works out fine, i get the mental exercise working out how to do it and they get a repair.😊
@@chrisstephens6673 I bought a second hand head I posted the vid on RU-vid yz250f knock or something , the guy would not allow me to buy the head from him unless he rebuild my motor so I saw no other way out and allowed it ,so when I popped the cams , the head was seized I barely did 5 hours on it , so the guy went and popped my cams and cam caps onto a blown head and mean I'm pissed , but the problem is you can't find people around here that is willing to do such jobs , because it's labour and time unless it's their own
That the slide metal bearing should be made, oil gutter on it. Same problem here on my honda, a factory failure design. Thanks for the video it's so inspiring.
Awsome job. I have built/fixed alot of motors/race mtrs mostly bikes/atvs I really like 2 see smeone that no's how 2 do that type of in depth mechanical work. 🛠 wrench on
Skill level is out of this world man have scrapped heads in better nick, hard to find this sort of guy that CAN mankind is loosing this sort of we can repair anything mindset, absolutely beautiful engineering, where are you at
Have you ever tried cracking your bearing sleeves on an expanding mandrel as they commonly do on rods for marine engines? Just curious. I did it one time and had to finish line home the journals for the clearance I was shooting for. Next time I will finish note closer to size. I left quite a bit to take out not knowing if deformation may have been as issue. I held the inserts with pins. Used stud and bearing mount to glue them in place with shims on the cam journals for preload while clamping up. Turned out very nicely. Older Honda trail bike.
Moped 150 on my country had same bad design like that. Some small garage mods changed sitting into bearing, and change rocker arm into roller rocker arm
Très belle réalisation de fraisage/ tournage, mais franchement le coup du papier émérie.sur le plan de joint de culasse, c'est dégueulasse.....un léger surfaçage aurait été préférable.....mais bravo quand même......belle réparation
Great job once again!! I noticed there is no keyway on the cams. Would there be any benefit in advancing the inlet cam? Or has KTM already optimised that?
Paul how did the id of the bearing races stay proper when you slit it with that saw you removed part of the circle cant wrap my head around how its still round not oval once the cam tower is mated back? just curious.
Excelent work, but i think the bronze SAE 64 is better than aluminum for the cmashaft, for the hardness and friction coeficient, maybe the nodular iron 5506 because it contains nudules of grafito and it is a lubricant Sorry for my english
Thanks. Cylinder head is from aluminium alloy - for camshaft good from factory. My aluminium is better. I use his on making high compression pistons. It work well.
must be very difficult to find spare parts in Indonesia. the process of fixing it is also a bit complicated. because all that is worn has to be lathe again. installation is also very thorough, good job. Me from indonesia
Awesome work, but 2 things. You could have use a press in dowel pin and a counter sunk hole drilled in the bushing. Second thing, why don't you use bronze? If there's ever a disruption in oil pressure the cams or the will not be damaged because bronze can run without oil for a while
Hey Paul X! I have the exact Problem with my Beta RR400 Head! It is currently out of stock worldwide, and no company I contacted can repair it! Can you help me out? THX!
Is this something you would do again if I pay I have a 08 ktm 505 SX-F I would love to have this done to do you have a shop or something like that to were I can contact your business thanks in advance awesome work also
Can you give more information? How many hours were on the bike? You mention oil starvation as the cause but what kind of maintenance was done on this bike? 5-10 hour oil changes? 10-15 hour oil changes? Thanks
Dude can you help me, i have kx250f 2005 and i heard that bike is a full of a shit in head, and if i buy head 2007 model i dont have a problem with valve, is that True?
Good job! In your opinion, is KTM stronger than yamaha? I used to have YZ250F 08, and looking on this photage - i have idea that this mechanism looks stronger ... Or they are more or less the same ? Thanks
How do you determine the position of the camshaft sprocket with the flats? The gear doesn't have the key so it can change slight degrees of opening of the valve.
If only they made white metal bearing caps like most car crank shafts . Could replace them easy and linish the cams . I see this failure often . The last bike I purchased with very similar issue the cam caps were crazy tight . Maybe 30-40nm !
@@PaulXchannel Thanks for replay and very good clean and professional repair. I think that on all 4 stroke bikes there must be the oil temperature sensor.
Have them made from bronze. Then you'll never have this failure again. Also use press in dowel pins instead of screws. Those screws could come lose because lock tight gets soft around 200 degrees..
