Sunday was the one night when there was no Night Comfort Theatre, instead just one late movie and a couple odd reruns before signing off- they would usually keep the signal on though showing a test pattern with a clock (this clip is everything I recorded until the tape ran out- I always filled out the odd minutes at the end of tapes with station sign-offs). This continued into the mid-2000s, shortly before the analog cutoff.

Welcome to the 1980s, a different time, and a different world.

Nice! I produced that - did the lighting, operated the camera, and edited it. Pretty sure I have the master tape around here ...

Do you have the full instrumental "Go for the stars" music track used for this? I have the later one updated with "The Valley's Own" in stereo somewhere too. Always wondered why they didn't run programming all night on Sundays, that was generally a dead night for TV as channel 10 was the only station that stayed on. I heard it was for maintenance but I never saw anything unusual other than the test pattern- channel 3 did the same thing but eventually filled out that night also, they used to run a feed of CNN Headline News overnight.

@@TheMediaHoarder Sadly, don't seem to have kept that package. I do have three "Go For the Stars" promos from the master 1-inch tapes, which I can post. Also, the complete music package for "You're First with Forty." Lastly, I have the 90-second version of "The Valley's Own," in stereo, if you're looking for that. Sunday night, after midnight, was reserved for transmitter maintenance, though the time wasn't always used for that purpose. I'd say, maybe once a month someone actually went down there during the overnight hours.

I used to do that as a kid! I used to always record the very last odd few minutes (or even an hour or so) of tape space with a station sign-off and sign-in the mid-2000s. I miss doing things like this nowadays in 2020!

Was this station really running a TCR-100 in 1986? That's the big blue monstrosity with the "oval" shaped front. That is where the 2" tape cartridges were loaded and removed. Gotta pay the bills!
