In this video I bring you along as perform the 50hr service on my Kubota B2601. It includes changing the engine oil and filter along with the hydraulic and hydrostat oil filters. I blow out the air filter and change the fuel filter also. The I check the tire pressures give things a look over and that's all there is to it.
-Enjoy!

put a piece of nylon stocking on the snorkel to the air filter (with rubber band) to prevent grass seed in the air filter. Mowing one patch of goldenrod will plug the filter.

I have the older version of this tractor (B2620) with the same D1105 engine. It has been fantastic. I love how easy the loader and mower are to attach, and the machine is very DIY friendly to service. I did the same thing with the filters, except I dropped my new filter in the drain pan haha, ended up changing all of the fluid in the process. For the oil filter I use the Napa 1334 as it doesn't rub the radiator hose.

Nice tractor. I have a Kubota BX1500 with an FEL and a MMM. I know its a little guy but it does everything I need it to. I picked it up used and did a full service right after - all fluids and filters, coolant, and front axle oil. Mine is around twenty years old and I bet it runs just about as good as it did when it was new. Maintain these things and they will last a long time. Cool video-

Those are done pretty sad designs. No o rings on NEW $25 filters. Sad, sad, sad. $30 a gallon hydraulic oil?? Let her run!! Another design??? Our shop for Toro and Exmark are around $110-125 an hour. Amazing sometimes how long it takes for maintenance. Had to have a drive gear replaced on a "new" used aerator my son bought. $1300 later I learned how to do it for the next time. I don't have the lifts you need to access certain underneath items, but trying to figure out a way without putting my life in jeopardy 😂😂. Doesn't hurt to become "1" with your equipment!!

I do alot of field mowing with my old bx6100 (the vintage 1983 model), I have a dust sock for offroading over the normal filter. Then I clean that dust sock before every session, plus clean/wipe out the filter box. The sock really helps keep alot out of it and make it easier to clean. I average 4-10hours in session alot of the times. So I consider it a cheap insurance policy.

Just a quick tip from personal experience, If your tires are loaded with calcium not rim guard, Jack up the rear wheels, put the valve stems @ 12 o'clock and change the valve stem cores every year. Mine started to leak after checking air pressure because the cores corroded from the calcium and at that point were almost impossible to get out due to corrosion. The valve stem is rubber and brass but the cores are pot metal.

Yea, I agree. You pay 20 for a filter and still need to swap parts. Probably designed for engine failure down the road 😊😊. That was a piss poor design on the hydraulic oil. Shouldn't need to do an entire oil change. At $30 a gallon, there again probably designed that way😢😢.

Hey Eric…..that inner filter is your final means of stopping dust getting into the engine. If the outer filter fails then the inner does the protection. Never blow clean the inner filter. Every time you take your air filters out you risk getting dust into the engine. If the filter housing has a restriction indicator then don’t take the filters out until that pops red…..cheers from Australia. 40 odd years as a plant mechanic working on heavy machinery. I take care of my brothers BX 23 for him. The one thing I hate about the BX series is the HST fan is plastic and not protected. He blew the fan off of it when a piece of brush got up into it. I replaced the fan and bought a skid plate that mounts to the mower pivots. Other than him flipping it and every other abusive thing you can do the BX runs great.
@wildbill23c
@wildbill23c Год назад
I have the skid plate for my BX2680 as well...takes a couple seconds to remove, but several minutes to install...thanks Kubota for a janky mid mount mower lift system...thing is a piece of crap, and no matter how you adjust it something is out of adjustment somewhere....so it makes putting the skid plate on quite a project as something in the lift system isn't right, to be able to get the lift mechanism locked in the TOP position. Even the dealer can't get it right.

Working on Carrier and Thermo King reefers over the years. I like the Kubota engines in the Carrier units better than Thermo Kings Yanmar engine. On the reefer units the Kubotas Oil seals (rear main and front seal) are common along with cracked exhaust manifolds. Where the Yanmar on the ThermoKing have head gaskets fail quite often. Water pumps fail more. They have updated the WP's over the years to increase volume but the new units are still having problems. Reefer engines only run on two preset speeds though and will shutoff in high speed like 2200 rpm

Had a couple questions, you mentioned getting a service manual and a parts manual. I found the service manual on the kubota website but could not locate the parts manual on the kubota site or on the google. Is there such a thing? Also you mentioned you paid $50 for the oil/fluid and 3 filters? I paid $160 at the dealer here in Topeka ks. Interested in giving them business but if I don't want to pay 3x higher. Maybe you said $150 and I heard $50? Thanks Eric

I go above recommends service to err on the side of caution too. I also wash the body & frame and condition the hoses, seat, steering wheel and tires. To make the mower deck last longer, pressure wash then touch it up with primer on any nicks on the underside. Dirt & grass hold moisture which shorten the life of equipment. It is also easier to work on a clean machine.

i laughed way to hard when you tried swapping the hydraulic filter. you'll drain all but about a quart and a half from there. the hst filter is after the charge pump so you only loose just more than the filters worth there. used to be a 50 hour service changed all the fluids until epa got after them for too much oil usage. nice residential units. they havent changed much since the 00 series. two quick tips- check the hydraulic oil with the 3 point lift lowered. and dont over fill. seen issues because of that. and the stupid fuel cap. they changed the design a bunch of years back but you can still have problems. the cap is the tank vent. if the rubber inside comes off make sure there's a white nylon washer underneath before puting that rubber back on, and when fueling only tighten the cap till it TOUCHES bottom. no more! you go gorilla it seals off that vent and will literally suck the fuel tank flat!!! the usual complaint is the guage shows 1/2 a tank but it wont run. thats because its flat , stuck the sender and you ran it out of fuel. or you went to fuel it and it took very little fuel, less than expected.

I saw one on an inter-island Bahamian freighter (old landing craft) generator that had an estimated 50K+ hours. Only time it was shut down was to service it. By the time I got to it, it was leaking oil from both the front & rear seals, throttle and stop shafts from the crankcase pressure.
