Great videos showing actual maintenance procedures. I highly recommend doing one more step when changing any type of oil filter and that is to fill the filter with oil before installing it. Even horizontally mounted filters will take one filling of oil as the dry filter media will absorb the oil and retain it while it’s being installed. This helps reduce oil starvation when the engine is first started. This applies to any filter change for most any application including autos. Of course a vertical mounted filter is best as it can be literally filled up and then installed. This produces virtually no oil starvation when the engine or whatever is first started/activated. I’ve been filling all types of filters for years before installing and l know it is effective in helping reduce unnecessary wear.

A.J. thank you sir for the kind words. It means a lot. Stick around there are lots more tractor videos coming and we still have an entire homestead/farm to build! It may not be the best way to get things done but it is a way to do it. Terry

i saw someone make some ramp/funnel with aluminum foil and put it under the oil filter when removing it. that way the oil dripping from the oil filter flow into a pan below and not messing his machine, it was neat.

Thank you for this video and the transmission filter changes. I am confident I can do this now. The owners manual isn’t very clear and doesn’t even talk about the 2 transmission filters.

The oil filter cup also fits the hydraulic filters. That radiator hose is right on the oil filter, helps to move it a bit to get the new filter started.

Dear Terry, A good how to look after your equipment properly. I guess when one has invested the kind of money that you have, it's usually a pretty good incentive to keep it working for many years to come. Well done & kind regards.

Thanks! Yeah we hope to keep this thing a very long time. Brian should be getting good use of it after i am gone. Terry

Dear Terry, Thank you very much for your courteous & hearted response; may I be so bold as to suggest that you do clock quite a few miles under your belt before you go into the other side. At least you'll go having the satisfaction that you got to play with it plenty & Brian can take over the family tradition. I am sure it'll last a good many years the way it's being cared for. Kind regards.

Dear Terry, Thank you very much for your courteous reply. It's not about physical differences, rather one of respect for seniority something he'll learn when his time comes. I am glad that you're happy on your land; by all accounts it looks like a really nice part of the world with plenty to keep you occupied & proud of. Best wishes & kind regards.

He has respect, ha ha. I was just joking. He enjoys the tractor and there will be plenty of time for me to play on it once we get moved in. Terry

I have a 2003 B2710. I only use Kubota filters and oil, seems to keep my tractor working just fine. Nice video, good advice on keeping the filler cap on when you first remove the drain screw(s). You should consider replacing the drain plug gasket, maybe every other oil change. Might also suggest keeping kitty litter around. Cheap oil absorbent if you experience a spill.

Good video 👍. Land pride is holding me up on delivery of my b2650. We are waiting on a 33rd function and sgc0660 grapple. It was hard to believe Anderson Kubota was 1,400$ cheaper on a b2650 than 3 other dealer's were on a b2601

if i may suggest a torque wrench to put back the drain plugs. it is easy to strip if not careful. the owner manual should provide the value of torque needed. thank to take the time to make that video.
@ForestToFarm
@ForestToFarm 6 лет назад
Yes we should have used a torque wrench. Guess I was a little lazy. I never used one before on cars and trucks so I formed a bad habit there. Terry

actually, it's best that you put the filter on hand tight as the oil filters aren't needed to be torqued to anything, the key thing to remember is, if Brian can hand tighten it and take it off with his hands, then it's tight enough. If you put it on too tight and your oil filter wrench can't take it off... you're going to have a very bad day...
@ForestToFarm
@ForestToFarm 6 лет назад
True on the bad day. In addition if you over tighten a filter it can deform the seal and cause it to leak oil. Not a good situation at all. Terry

my advice with the oil, pour it in with the jug on it's side so that you don't get the sloshing effect and it makes a mess, you also need to add the capacity of the filter to the engine capacity, for example if your engine is 4250cc, put 4.5L of oil in there... I estimate that your filter is about 100ML to 250ML... just under an imperial cup (imperial and metric cup sides are negligible) I know it's negligible but just remember, the smaller the engine... the higher the impact this calculation is. Before you check the oil, run the engine for 15-30 seconds then check the oil so that it's cycled through, accurate results.... I am a little disappointed with YT, they did not alert me to this video!
@ForestToFarm
@ForestToFarm 6 лет назад
All god points!! We actually ran it several minutes. then let it sit 5 to 10 minutes before rechecking the oil level. Sorry to hear about the RU-vid failure. I have that happen from people's comments here and there. Terry
