This is the first snow storm of Western NY this winter, but it certainly isn't the last. There are plenty of snow removal videos from last winter on my channel: tinyurl.com/yc7d76ku and don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss out on any of the future videos!

I bought my kubota l4060 with a cab and front mounted snow blower attachment in 2020. It was expensive, but in the end worth every penny in terms of comfort and clearing big snowfalls. Being out at 4am with a heated cab makes the money well-spent! Plus no snow banks.

Really enjoyed this video. This post was a stark reminder of personal ancient history for me. Having shoveled what felt as a lifetimes worth of New York snow as a kid, I jumped at a career opportunity of moving to South Carolina almost fifty years ago after leaving the Service and have only had to shovel snow once in all those years. My hats off to you for doing what needs to be done, when it needs to be done no matter how bad or tired you felt and also not trying to blow off your job because of weather or conditions. You're the type of person that people will look up to. Post us another video on your backyard lake when all that snow finally melts.

That open station tractor gets old! People think Buffalo gets snow, but down here on the Chautauqua ridge is really what gets it consistently...although we only got 2 feet from that last storm. I keep several machines ready to move snow. Have a 45 hp Kioti open station, 24 hp Kioti w/cab with a front snowblower, and a 2500 Chevy HD with a plow. Mostly use the blower so I don't have to move mounds later in the winter. I don't ever plan to rely on anyone else!

I push snow with a 1953 John Deere model 40. I love doing it. I always push way back for big snow, and in the beginning of the season. I leave a little snow for a hard pack, which reduces the gravel cleanup in spring. Looks like your ground isn’t frozen though. Once I put tire chains on, it was a game changer. I can push a ten foot pile of wet snow, I swear! Great video! Hope the lakes freeze soon!

Your snow pusher is awesome! I used to plow my driveway with the rear blade and use the front bucket for moving deep snow around. However the tractor was just too heavy and would pack the snow down on my hills. I had some very scary backward slides trying to get up my driveway and pushing snow up the hill was impossible. Now I plow my driveway (550ft) and parking area with my quad. It's so much faster, I can plow both ways (it will push snow up hills) and with the angled blade the plowing goes a lot faster. My only wish was that it had the HST transmission like my tractor so I don't have to change the gears when reversing. Loved the vid!

Thanks for taking the time to video that. I should put one of those pushers on my Skid-Steer. I've been using a big snow bucket, which works well on the asphalt part of the drive, but that's only about 20% of what I have to plow if we get a big snow. The adjustable feet to prevent scraping up the millings, which work impressively well, are a huge feature. We don't get that much snow ever. 2016 was the last really big one that took two days to dig out of.

I'm a procrastinator so I know first hand how putting things off costs you later, but if you had tuned your driveway up with a box blade/land plane you wouldn't have the issues with scalping your driveway now. That snow pusher looks pretty small but if you don't have tire chains it's probably all the bigger you want, to be honest where you live a snow blower would be a welcome addition to the line up I'm sure. You should find a way to make an implement storage rack like some of the other youtubers do so you can find them and them in the snow. Tractor time with Tim has a great idea for a rack system with the heavy duty shelves, I would secure them to my building, and have them inside and out. When I lived in Western NY I had a short driveway and the City did a nice job of keeping the streets clean so I just shoveled around my cars and that was that, but if you live in the country and it says "Seasonal Maintenance" you better figure that you're on your own!
@EverythingElliott
@EverythingElliott Год назад
I do have tire chains no, built them myself, actually made a video on that. The pusher is 6’ and I don’t want it much bigger given the door I pull my tractor into is 8’. Hello ,Rex DeLong here ,just got on your channel , like your content , I live in upper NY off of Lake Ontario in Oswego County were we get hammered too with lake effect , we were lucky we only got 2 ft of snow this time, noticed you have one of the steel building for a garage how does it hold up with snow load you get ? I have a John Deere 2038 with a snow pusher along with a 54 inch three point hitch blower ,I use the blower when I can't get the snow where I want it, I put on a original cab on my tractor this year got sick of getting snow on me it was worth the cost ,enjoy your video keep them coming.

Define common…we get big storms like this every year, but normally 3’ at a time. However we get snow allllllll winter. I would love a heated enclosed cab. That being said, there wouldn’t be much left of the cab glass and lights during summer when I romping through the woods with the tractor. @bluegrallis
@bluegrallis Год назад
Is your 'lake effect' snow usually wet and heavy or do you normally get 'dryer' snow later in the winter? I would think a snow blower would be much better than a pusher, unless it's always wet and heavy. It's always a PITA when we get wet heavy snow before the ground freezes and if it sticks around, the ground doesn't freeze well with a blanket of insulation on it.
@EverythingElliott
@EverythingElliott Год назад
It all depends where the cold front comes from. If it comes across the lake on its way to us, it’s always really wet and heavy, if it comes across land we get the typical light fluffy snow
@RayleighCriterion
@RayleighCriterion Год назад

I wonder how they measure snow there. It doesn't look like even 3 feet on your roof or the car parked in your driveway. I realize that the wind can blow light fluffy snow around but the early snows are usually heavy so they don't blow much. I saw video of people using walk behind snowblowers in what the news said was 66 inches of snow but it was only waist high. Maybe the man operating the blower was 10 feet tall? I'm 6'2" and 2 feet is knee high. 5 feet is shoulder high.
@EverythingElliott
@EverythingElliott Год назад
They measure accumulation, so as it falls it’s counted. After snow sits for hours it compresses. Hence why you only see that much on the car. The roof isn’t a fair assessment because heat from the house melts the snow on the roof (I live in an old inefficient house). This is pretty much the standard way of snow measurement across the country. Thanks for watching!

Maybe invest in one of the snow blower attachments that go on the back of your tracker? Awesome job! I love Kabotas. They have a snowblower attachment that can blow some serious snow. Might be a good investment. I noticed that your plow is tilted up a bit from the camera angle. It is probably hard for you to tell from your position you could try tilting it 2 inches down and see how it does and if it needs further adjustment you can tilt it back up. I know you raised the skis up all the way and I compensated for that. You do a great job! I think you should take a break and pound down a couple of bush lights and enjoy your weekend.🍙❄
