Oh wow was this ever emotional. I just started going to church in March and a couple weeks ago the pastor said they did this. I had no idea what it was all about. I just took a box then I asked him if it was mix and match. Not realizing it all went to one child. I figured you just threw in toys and clothes for all age and sex groups and they sorted them out afterwards. Then he told me it was all for one child. So I packed one up. Only one because I didn’t understand it. The boxes are due at church this Sunday. So I don’t have time to make more. But I ran into videos like this and now know who it goes to and what to do. So I’m going to buy a whole bunch of stuff I find on sale all year next year so I can make a whole bunch of shoeboxes next year. Now that I know what I’m doing. What an inspiring story.
Since my oldest daughter read an article years ago, probably over twenty years now, we have strived to make Christmas Shoeboxes every year and hoped the children and their parents that got them knew they were loved. Thank you Kululu for your story.
I hope he found work and keeps pressing on. Life is very difficult, it’s okay to get upset and discouraged. But you’re not alone. The love given to you is from God. Those of us who have given boxes are still imperfect people, the love we have is from the love God moves in us. You don’t need to find people to thank, the gift is from God. God loves all of us and you too.
