Kumbartcho New Yard Design 

Here's one for those interested in Cattle Yard design. I've just done a major rebuild on this yard which previously was quite unworkable.
I shortened the race to 1/2 its former glory, created more flowing curved yards, & have a future plan to install a three way draft in front of the red crush unit.
Stock will then travel the same path each time they are in the yards, only changing path at the draft, or to do a left turn to the loading ramp.
An interesting thing in this video is the coat condition of the stock.
these calves weaned in February of this year & here we are now end of June & mid winter!
Take a look at how glossy & clean their hair coats are!
Speaks volumes for the state of the soils here on the farm!
These animals have had no supplementation, no minerals, no treatments for cattle ticks or buffalo fly.
Weaned off mum & onto grass.
I've a plan to replace gate chains with slam latches as I find the chains dangerous, fiddly, & noisy!!!
