The 2nd move was the exact same move that Jackie Chan used in Rumble in the Bronx. He kicked the knife out of the attacker's hand and then back kicked him away.

I can't even comprehend with some of the stupidity in the comments...people can't face the fact of beginner lessons. Not every lesson has to be completely extreme and majorly effective. This is about defending yourself, not about "let's just fucking kill the person".

But it's a horrible defense. Ever try kicking a jab? Good luck.
@cyborgagent6
@cyborgagent6 10 лет назад
EvolutionSTUD10S That;s what the blocks and counters are for....maybe you should watch the WHOLE video...it's not hard to block a jab lol
@EvolutionSTUD10S
@EvolutionSTUD10S 10 лет назад
I did watch the whole video, he doesn't really show blocks or counters in that context. Now I think it's fair to say that boxers tend to have the best jabs out there. They don't block jabs... they either dodge or take the jab on the arm via elbow block or body roll. UFC fighters dive under a jab and go to the ground. It is incredibly difficult and inefficient to block a jab, go try it on someone willing to hit you in the face. The kick telegraphs the defense to a ridiculous degree and is unrealistic for the "street." Your lively to end up on the ground trying to block a jab like that.

These techniques are nothing to do with self-defence. The 'instructor' is a deluded fool who clearly knows nothing about practical combat - he should be ashamed to be teaching this rubbish to anyone. Just another wannabe trying to make a living from selling shite.

For those that have the "this doesn't work" mindset. Fighting is an art. You can't be set on one style. It doesn't matter what's authentic or what is PC. Everyone of these moves will work in the right situation.

there is no way he just kicked a punch. That is the most amazing self defense move I have ever seen. All my boxing has become useless. I'm going to start walking around with my hands in my pocket because I can just kick block every move that comes at me. People who teach this crap are going to get someone killed or beat up really bad. Why would you even show such ineffective crap? Why even worry about blocking when the guy who punching is almost ten feet away

It is a hybrid class. My Sensei's original art was Tai chi Chuan followed by joining a dojo specialized in Shito Ryu/Ryukyu Kempo which stem from two lineages. also we have a Arnis/escrima/kali teacher which involves stick work as well as empty hands. I do not have a shorin-ryu dojo available to me.

I very rarely comment on videos but in this case, I feel like I have to.... This is complete non sense and I can't believe this guy is trying to get away with this. Just check out 4.07 - when was the last time someone took a swing at you from such a distance?!!! Go to a proper kung fu / martial arts school and learn from a respectful instructor. This stuff will just get you killed in the street. Peace

Ok.....this is the fourth video I watched from this guy...and the last.this is one amongst many of the reasons why people talk bad about kung fu.bad teachers and so called sifus!!! Usually when people make videos they would have their top students with them during this shoot.well if that's your best student......take that crap to master wong and see what he would have to say about the stuff you are teaching to your students and making them believe that this stuff is going to work in a real grimey down and dirty street fight! You never know but I say hell no!!!

One thing to remember with techniques, at least as my sifu explains, they are taught to show possibilities, not "this is how you always defend against x" that push defense for example, you could knee to the face, or you could knee to the chest, or throw a front kick at the chest to knock them back, or go for the groin, we have been taught a variation at my club where you block like in the vid, but then grab the opponents right hand and take them down, really depends on the situation

I am training in Shaolin Kempo and we have the exact technique. One question I have is why do you keep your fingers loose, we make a very tight open palm where all the fingers touch and our thumb is tucked inwards IF we ever open our hands at all. It seems like it's very easy for your fingers to get broken with such an open and loose open hand.

I agree with you about the extraneous waste of time to execute that first spin kick after he grabs the arm to turn the body. He could use a Chin Na technique and control the opponent - he already has the arm. There is no such thing as a fair fight in real life. As far as the law is concerned you may only use such force as is used against you. If the person is honestly trying to kill you, you might not be trained to fight against it. Bites and dirty tactics might save your life.

These are pretty risky and complicate techniques. I guess much better choice would be mae geri in case of pushing. In other two cases, e.g. if you grab and pull opponent's hand, much faster is direct punch to head instead of using of legs. But, I really like his other video where defense from nelson hold is explained.

Some people are really cheap, and usually fight with sticks, pipes, knives or some other things that we never thought of, so Jake do you mind to teach some disarming skills, like Qin Na. Lastly, can you teach how punch or hit more powerful, erm in systema they called it 'ballistic punch' which deals impact to internal or the momentum that can 'thrust much more inward'

It is Shaolin-Do, it's just that they can't call it that because it's copyrighted. There was a court case where the Shaolin Do grandmaster took Jake Mace to court. He also admitted to making up a lot of things as well. Google: Jake Mace vs Sin The Don't listn to the lies meant for naive Westerners: this is NOT traditional Kung Fu. You'll notice that you won't find listed on Mace's website the name of his art or who he trained under. Because.... it's Shaolin Do!

Although the techniques in this video are great, the defences against a push are a bit over the top, particularly from a legal standpoint. You could find yourself in all sorts of legal trouble if someone goes to push you and you knee them in the face. In the UK at least you are only permitted to use reasonable force to defend yourself, and objectively the technique would probably be held not to be reasonable.

Yeah thats partly true. His Techniques would be pretty painfull in reallife because of the nonsense he's teching. For example on the last technique, why does he spin to kick him, if his other fist (which he doesnt grab/pull with) is right in front of the guys face. BUT, hurting people badly in a fight (eyeballs, throat) is NO OPTION! Learn to fight properly, so that you are the superior in a fight, then you can fight fair, and win with no problems.

@thegnjdk
@thegnjdk 10 лет назад
Hey man Because these moves are to flashy. The moves looks good and will work if your opponent stand still, try to check out other martial arts like krav maga, WT or some self defense academy: They will always be using straight attacks and a lot of aggression. And if you wonna learn martial arts then go to a school, don't practice at home because you are going to need a instructor (and students) to correct you, and try using your technuies in sparring :)

@DeMarkieSade
@DeMarkieSade 10 лет назад
thegnjdk Hey I noticed you mentioned Krav Maga and yes they are very resourceful because they don't just rely on memorized techniques, or rote repetitive performance. They teach more on a concept basis; somewhat on the premise of techniques are good if they are practical and solve the circumstance at hand, but they don't have to be flowery or dance-like or pretty--only effective. In other words, allow them to come from within you fluidly, without thought or having to analyze too much, until they become second nature, or instinctual. I would also like to say that Wing Chun is also a good fighting or supreme elf defense method or Jeet Kune Do, if they are taught properly! Check out Michael Wong from Master Wong TV on RU-vid for some of his stuff: He knows his stuff. I was wanting to ask you though, thegnjdk . . . what is a great self defense academy? online of course?

Carlo Peringil if you are in a self defence situation and you don't want to hurt the attacker you will loose every fight. In the end there is no difference between self defence and a fight were you are the agressor. In every self defence situation you have to switch the situation of to be the poor people who gets hit to the people who leads the fight and hits. End of the story. All these selfe defence in my opinion is only for the media to explain why you are learning this brutal techniques. ...
