finally someone shows the true way to apply the techniques of the monkey style, I teach the great sage monkey style and I have seen so many people while using the mimicking of the monkey's movements in the wu shu sport form of the monkey style and never show the true martial art side of it I tell my students that they hid the techniques of the monkey's movements for fighting into the mimicking of the monkeys movements so other fighters of different styles didn't know what was hidden in the monkey style for self-defense

Sifu, I'm only just starting out on here, but I'm deadly serious... I want to form an organization for the functionalization of traditional martial arts. Simply put, I want to bring together teachers like you who are dedicated to keeping these arts alive and realistic and provide resources for future generations to learn, practice, and teach these arts according to tried and true methods. I'm an aikidoka. My sensei learned on a military base in Japan. We sparred every day in class. "Randori" for us meant multiple attackers rushing and overwhelming you with random attacks while resisting being thrown. Imagine my surprise when I found out that many aikidoka don't spar, that "randori" is mostly a joke, and some don't even train to actually *hit* people! Atemi waza (striking) was easily at least 40% of our curriculum! Bottom line; I'm not the only person to have trained in practical aikido, but it's largely unknown because it receives little attention. Furthermore, these schools are dying because people now assume *all* aikido is useless thanks to the constant mockery and widespread misrepresentation. I started from aikido, but I know this is much bigger... I believe you, like me, know that all these Kung Fu styles would not have lasted as long as they have if they were never functional. Politics got in the way, and much of the practical application was lost to stylization. I've nothing against the more spiritual, esoteric, personal development type of training. I just think both this type, *and* the practical type should be able to exist! My first goal is just to start showing the world that it is the training methods, not the "style" of martial art, that makes it effective or not. To do this I just need to get a handful of teachers from different styles talking about how they train and showing some practical application of their style the way that you do. United under one banner, and working collectively toward the same goal, we can make a greater impact on the way people perceive traditional martial arts. In time, I hope to even fund research, help schools get equipment they need, or start up schools with good teachers like you who will pass along effective training and techniques to a new generation of warriors. If this is something you would be interested in, let me know. I want to get us a website and Facebook page up and running ASAP. After that, it's just a matter of networking and fundraising. Together, we can reclaim traditional martial arts!
@AuthenticShaolin

I think that sounds amazing. Unfortunately I am stretched really thin trying to keep my school running under this pandemic. I am now reaching out to other martial art schools and doing seminars to help. 🤙🤙🤙🙏
@peterwang5660
@peterwang5660 Год назад
One step at a time. I used to selfishly whine about how the martial arts of my culture are underrated. One look at the world outside Thailand, Brazil, and the West and everyone else gets misrepresented as well. Now I too want everyone to get the legacy and reputation they deserve. Our ultimate goal should be to get stylists into MMA with no question about where they got their abilities from.

@JTGJAKE18
@JTGJAKE18 6 лет назад
Sean O'connor sadly 90% of these styles you see like this would not work in mma and such is because they are not designed for it. capoeira is a perfect example they made it to look like dancing to hide it from there slave masters. they dont work in a mma environment because to much cadio is needed and you will gas out and lose. Martial arts are tools you wouldnt use a screw diver to hammer in a nail. it “could” work but its just way less effective. And as far self defence goes once again there are better “tools” for it and if were talking about life our death why handy cap yourself with a worse martial art? The only reason you should learn these in todays day and age is if you’re looking for a fun hobby. Or unless they have there own leauge for it (but mmas already took over so you wont make any money)

I've been in BJJ/boxing, after coming home from hard head contact I said to them all "go light" and none did, and I was all defensive with little strikes, and when did I got hit with explosion of hard hits, and concussed last time all worried me about brain trauma when the mind is my valuable asset, encouraged to rejoin with the boxing part again, this started to make me think that a few decades ago I had 1 single legit lesson from this old guy to fully covering up while punching - is going to be my next plan when returning to dojo tomorrow from 0 into 90% attack mode - but I think these moves here are quite worth the variety of set ups to incorporate and drill them over, for more tools to work for - what got me into all this stuff was traumatic upbringing to begin with, though today it's everything to me for flexibility, fitness - the joys of combat - spirit/mind/body.

I hate to say it, but this isn't myth busting. This is simply showing martial applications of the form. Myth busting would be showing it works under pressure. As your workout partner is complacent, there's no pressure involved. I realize you need to have a complacent partner to learn a technique, but once it's learned, you can only really test it by trying it under pressure. That means your partner must no longer comply. They must forcefully resist at all time, never willfully allowing you to perform the technique.

@jonnupe1645
@jonnupe1645 5 лет назад
the point of moving slowly is to help with perfecting the method, so when you speed up you'll naturally would have better accuracy. Also when the "dummy" throws a long jab, it doesn't really matter, because the important information is coming from the teacher, who is showing the method. At that point you'll carry a basic idea of what to do, that's when you can try applying it against other stuff like short jabs, or targets that are moving around. Baby steps.

Good used of traditional Chinese martial arts forms for combat and defence but not good enough because your movements are very lengthy and beautiful still movements are very interesting and technic is impressive but good enough compare to what real authentic chinese martial art experts from China do when it comes to combat and defence using traditional forms as you can see its all about the used of speed, intelligence, strategy, efficiency and direct contact for instance when your opponent makes a move you must be direct by moving both fist and foot at the same time to drop your opponent not lengthy movements in a way of combat that is very brave and impressive and i will like to say that you are truly the bravest and most daring martial arts master I have ever seen not bad

You seem to be a very competent teacher and student of northern Shaolin so I don't mean any disrespect, but I was just wondering the lineage and source of your particular Monkey techniques. The reason I ask is that the techniques and especially your method of application looks and reminds me very much of the monkey style created by Paulie Zink from back in the 80's and early 90's. He and his students were the only monkey stylists I have ever seen use those exact techniques in the same exact way you demonstrated here. I will never forgive Paulie Zink for being the con-man he was, since it's because of him Chan Sau Chung the real grandmaster of Tai Shing Pek War Men, stopped teaching in Canada and closed down his online training program I invested $400 in and lost. When Chan Sau Chung confronted him Paulie turned tail and stopped teaching his made-up monkey style. Your particular Monkey techniques resembles less a monkey and more like Zink's ape style. Just curious.

Indeed, that's the difference that I've seen, in any kind of disciplines (not only martial arts) between times with lack of information (I mean, you actually had to seek it, really had to want it) and nowadays, where there's too much of it: PEOPLE HAD TO BELIEVE IN ORDER TO IMPROVE, SO AT THE END THEY JUST BECAME WHAT THEY WERE DOING CONSTANTLY.
