Welcome to the third installment of our Sanda freestyle fighting series!! The third and most fun part of Sanda... Takedowns!! Shifu Lloyd will explain the premise of takedowns in Sanda and how to use the ground as a weapon to end the fight very quickly. Shifu Gregg will demonstrate three techniques from clinches and from kicks. This wraps up the basic techniques and principles of Chinese Sanda. When these are mastered you will be able to incorporate them into any range or style of fighting and layer different concepts and applications as you'll be able to flow from any situation!!

Wait. .. I watched it again and realized the technique is pretty much judo uchimata with a different grip. Wow... this is cool. I guess all martial arts are somehow connected. Only tweak I would make is to gain top control for grappling after the throw since I'm using it for bjj comps not street fighting. This is so cool. I would like to learn more details about how you broke that clinch and more importantly feet and hip position and how you circled inside to secure that wheezer grip?? 😮😮

Yes sir. Aikido and Ninjutsu/Ninpo are very closely related...and more judo techniques in these systems also,

many martial arts have very similar technique, especially strikes and takedowns, because they have had so much time to develop that they found the most effective methods

Hmm... this obviously works better without those fat 16oz gloves. Also, the grip fighting for the first technique is very unique. This technique has potential to help my stand up game at no gi jiujitsu. I think I can use this grip and do uchimata without the gi. We normally go for underhook (which is impossible to get on equally matched opponent) or overhook the arm (which doesn't feel secure). This looks tight and solid. Imma def try it 😆 I probably won't do this technique exactly but I plan to copy how you broke the thai clinch and shot your hands through for the overhand grip. The actual throw will be uchimata though. I need to keep control of my opponent after the throw so I can grapple with him. I didn't expect to find this nugget of gold from a kungfu channel to be honest. Thanks very much.
