I lived there for a well, and I am sitting here at night in Berlin watching Kunming Videos with tissues in my right hand and crying, cause I want to go back.
I've driven from my home in Shenzhen to Shangrila a few times. 24 hours on the road. My brewpub is here in Shenzhen, but I did a special brew in my friend's brewery (Shangrila Brewery) with their tasty local mountain water. Turned out really nice.
Blondie, China should make you their tourism ambassadress. If they don't, they don't know what they are missing! Mention of Puer city, reminds me of Puer tea - just love its taste and flavour! Greetings from a Chinese Malaysian!
I’m from Thailand and I love Yunnan especially Kunming and Lijiang. I love dancing in Tibetan style with locals in the town square. I think this is a very cool and healthy activity in public.
Your video highlights many things I love about Kunming, a city I've lived in off and on since 2012 and visited every year since then. I left Kunming for Sweden in December and now that I saw your video it fills me with longing after my second hometown. Very nice travel video!
My girlfriend is from Kunming, and I’ve visited twice already. I’ll be living there as soon as China reopens. I love it and I love the food. Especially 小锅米线 and 宜良烤鸭
I miss kunming so much. Even though I have lived in Chengdu and have been all over, I still think Kunming has the best food in all of China. There are so so many different styles of food and you can get shaokao any time of the day, and it's definitely the best shaokao.
I like how you take video of everything, even what might not be interesting to you personally thinking about your viewers ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for this channel helping to improve the image people have in mind on China! I'm a student majoring in Asian studies in Israel myself and I see that alot as Israeli person that many people have no idea about 中国 at all... They think sushi 🍣 is a Chinese dish! So thank you very much for you sharing your experience with us~~ 谢谢你!!
I Love Kunming! We go there every other year to visit my mother-in-law. You defenitely have to visit the Western Hills! Since a couple of years there's a metro stop right at the start of the Western Hills park. Then go up to the top, pass "Dragon gate" and take the cable-car down to the other side of Dianshi lake and from there take a bus back to the city centre. The air in Kunming is so clean because of two very important reasons: it is between 1800m and 2200m above sea level where the air is already cleaner but even more important: the city government implemented all kinds of rules where the number of cars is limited in the city centre and ALL public transport busses are either CNG, hybrid or full electric (they made the change of the almost 10000 busses to the new propulsion systems in little over two years!)! In our opinion, the best places to eat in Kunming (and actually all over China) are in those small street restaurants. They are cheap, and very tasty! Simply check out the number of patrons: if there is a queue, start queueing too because the dishes will be incredible! Also a must is "hot pot", chose from either the regular or the hot version (but beware hot is usually very hot!). I also like the different beef dishes and "bitter melon" (kǔguā) in the different Muslim restaurants. BTW: to days in Kunming is NOT enough! It takes a lot longer to see all that is beautifull in the city.
i was here last january and it was the greatest travel of my life! i never expected this in kunming. weve had so much fun! I love kunming so much that i want to go back this december. you may want to try to go to the jiaozi mountain. that place was magical!
Kunming was really unexpected for me! I had low expectations the first time I went there (as it was just a short stopover before my travels in Yunnan) and it ended up being one of my favourite stops!! Would recommend it to anyone :)
The gulls r special bc their home is Lake Baikal, Siberia & the gulls winter in Kunming for less than maybe 6 weeks (?) b4 flying 1K+ km home to Russia. Also, u visited the Kunming Zoo/hilltop park area at the exact perfect time - 1st week of March (only time all the cherry blossoms r at/near full bloom). Imo u should feel lucky. Seeing both the Siberian gulls and cherry blossoms in full bloom can only happen early March. Amazing timing. 👍👍
Many Thanks. Your videos arouse longing in me. Nice that you are allowed to experience that. Are you studying in China👩🏼💻? OMG such a beautiful country👍. Have fun and best regards from Alex from Germany🙋🏻♂️🌞
As far as travel videos go, this was great. It was about Kunming and not about you. I’ve been very lucky in my life to have lived in traveled through Southeast Asia extensively for close to 15 years. Most of that was Indonesia, which is more a home to me than anywhere else. But I’ve also been privileged to travel a nice chunk of China as well. Yunnan is one of my favorite places in the world and Kunming is easily one of my favorite cities. I absolutely love the place. Those who are originally from there have a good reason to be proud of it. It’s a wonderful place where it’s quite clear people have taken care to keep it special.
I've enjoyed this video so much! I really like Kunming, I've been there a few times as my boyfriend lives there! Nice to see all the places we use to go to together!
I had study in kunming for 4 years . season in kunming is comfortable. by the way , i think you can have a trip to lijiang which is my hometown. lijiang have very beautiful view.
the whole idea of 过桥米线 is to cook all the ingredients in the soup. The thick grease on the soup keeps it super hot, hot enough to cook the thin slices of raw meat. You dip the slices in the egg then drop into the soup, stir it for a few seconds then put all the other things in. Finally, the noodles in. The meat slices turn out incredibly tender and tasty. Just be really careful not to burn yourself with the soup. However, 过桥米线 has been spoiled pretty badly for being the must-have as people visit the city. It keeps only an OK standard so people can still play with the hot soup cooking, but not so good as it used to be anymore.
Baishuitai (white water terraces) and tiger leaping gorge are really beautiful. If anyone is going to tiger leaping gorge take the unofficial path down to the rapids just near Tina's hostel. The locals built the trail and they expect a bit of a toll at a few points but it's worth it.
It's predictable that Kunming will definitely become a cosmopolitan city and the center of Indo-China peninsula in a couple of years. No one can turn over this trend!
HEY THERE, I JUST SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL. I LIVE IN THAILAND AND WILL BE GOING TO CHINA NEXT YEAR FOR 4 WEEKS OR SO WITH A SIDE TRIP TO TIBET. I AM GOING TO TRY TO SEE ALL THE THINGS MY DAD DID IN THE 30'S AND 40'S SO I DON'T THINK I WILL GET TO GO TO THE CITY IN THIS POST BUT I WILL PUT IT ON MY BUCKET LIST FOR A FUTURE VISIT. IN THE NEXT YEAR I WILL BE GOING TO INDIA FOR 4 WEEKS AND THEN JAPAN FOR 1 OR 2 WEEKS THEN TAIWAN THEN CHINA AND TIBET AND I THINK I MIGHT TRY TO GO TO AUSTRALIA AND SCUBA DIVE THE GREAT BARRIER REEF AGAIN. SO FAR THAT HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE TRIP.
Haha, I followed pretty much exactly the same route up towards Shangri-La (didn't go there), then carried on up into Sichuan and a small town called litang, I'd definitely recommend doing that if you've time, amazing scenery, architecture and a small monastery, Litang was one of the coolest places I've been, and at over 4000 metres altitude, it's pretty high too :-) Just watch out for the dogs.
You are a lucky girl. When I was young I didn't have money and time to travel, now I have them but I don't have the energy and spirit to explore. My vacation consists of walking around my hotels in capital cities.
Wow,unbelievable I just watched your video few days ago and now you are in my hometown. You should go to shopping at the open air market you would love that. You should go to XiShuangBanNa to try the original food that is so Amazing and you would love the local culture there.Hope you enjoy there.
Really fun fact about Kunming, there are more minority Chinese groups in Kunming, and so there are women and children. There was this Baozi place you should've went to lemme say
Thank you for visiting and sharing my hometown!! I grew up next to the green lake park hahahaha. Btw when you are eating the rice noodles, you should put the egg first, then all the other meat. Next it’s vegetables and lastly rice noodles.
Lmao I’ve been to that park, it’s always lit with the old folks 😂🔥. During the winter thousands of birds fly down from Siberia and circle around the lake.
I know it's April Fool's Day but saying this video is both fun and informative is no joke! :D Your enthusiasm to learn and gain enjoyment is a great example for others.
Kunming has such a lovely temperature all year round, which is hard to find in China! For me living mostly in Beijing, it is either crazy cold or crazy hot. Meanwhile in Kunming.... a nice 25 degrees all year round. Maybe I should move... hahah!
Put chili paste into the over-the-bridge rice noodles. In order: Eggs, raw meat, veggies, wait about 5 minutes, then carefully & gently slide in noodles (delicately) last.
oh my god I was there in Kunming from 11-13 March this year and I actually missed that pink flowers in the park. I really love Crossing the bridge noodle as I love hot soup! That's noodle is really hot.
1:10 this is the biggest difference i have noticed in China too. Elderly people actually go outside and DO STUFF, and have fun, and live their lives. In the west, they just sit at home and watch TV and wait for homecare to bring the groceries.
