Im on Kurts side on that one. You are having an awesome day, just won a race and then people want to bring up bad memories and ruin his day. Kurt's all like, "Dont ruin my day with that bullshit"
These guys are not only at the top of their game in all aspects of driving but dealing with media and sponsor obligations as well. No matter what you think of any of the drivers at the Cup level, they are all top notch professionals.
I absolutely hated Kurt, but even so I thought he got a raw deal right when he lost his ride at Penske. He was knocked down a few pegs, and he had to rebuild his career. He had to humble himself, change his outlook, and try to put together the shambles of his career. Many fans still wouldn't give him credit (some still don't), and it definitely wasn't an easy road. His comeback is incredibly admirable, and instead of the driver who I once most hated, he would be one of my top choices to see in victory lane (if my Jimmie Johnson isn't winning, that is).
jek 111 I feel Kurt got Furniture Row going pretty good back when he was coming back. That team was low budget and he made them competitive. Now, obviously, they got the right guy in there. But I still give Kurt a lot of credit putting that team out there
Brad went to avoid an accident and turn into kurt. It's like not checking your mirrors before switching lanes on a highway. Brad caused himself to finish bad
This interview right here just goes to show how much he has matured over the years! In 2002, or even 2008, Kurt probably would have went off on Brad and cost himself that win that day!
No one ever rose to the top trying to please everyone - You have to have a fire in your ass and haters who really fkin hate your guts. You do that? you earned your pay. Kurt is, always has been, a driver who could race in the front and get more out of the car than he should have. That's what earns you respect if you are a real fan. Lots of drivers out there I may despise to different degrees, but can respect talent because that's why I'm a fan. Reporters gonna do what reporters gotta do. After everyone has seen a race, it's in the books, what the hell is left for them to do in order to put themselves or their network back in the spotlight? create an opportunity. They do that because they were no good at holding slippery worn out tires on the inside to take a position while keeping it clean.
It was one thing for the SC anchor to ask about it once when showing the clip of Keselowski upset - you kind of have to as a reporter - but when Busch made it quite clear he didn't want to acknowledge Brad trying to start something and for the anchor to ask another question on the subject, Busch was right in that it's just ESPN trying to add fuel to the fire. Let the man enjoy the win. I'm not a Kurt Busch fan - far from it - but he handled this well by doing his best to brush off the comments from Keselowski. Kurt's still an asshole though.
The problem is that the fans and NASCAR wanted to have "Have at it, boys", and that refers to both on- and off-track excursions. And so NASCAR needed the media to gin up all these controversies and try to generate excitement to carry over beyond the race. When NASCAR focused on a WWE-style product, the media stepped in to play its role. But all the "new fans" lapped that stuff up, so...
First off... Huge fan of the Kurt and Kyle. They both are pretty funny on the radios during the race. But at the end of interview Kurt brought up a great point about no practice session before the race. That makes me wonder if that would even the playing field for the smaller budget teams. I guess the downside it could push the guys who were way off in the beginning of the race to wreck trying to keep up. But the upside I think it could make for a more interesting race. Even put in a 5 lap redflag for an extended pit stop for major adjustments and then race go forward as normal. I'm just spitballing here but I miss NASCAR because they don't air it on fox or NBC always. I'm to cheap to pay for cable so. Something needs to happen to bring the ratings back to post Dale Sr death. It's a great sport though and can't wait for the next race
I betcha if that was Buck Baker or Mike Skinner ole Kurt wouldn't be calling anyone a clown - its NASCAR - confrontations is what got us on the map - of course it was the beginning of the end for fans like myself
back when ESPN bothered with sports other than baseball, basketball, football, college, and tennis. They keep pushing soccer highlights too.. as if even 20% of America has any investment in soccer. silly.
this guy acts a lot different on camera than he does on the car, like radically different. more than just "being in a tough race in a hot car makes people testy" sort of different.
Classy or not.. He did the polictal correct speech .. What Kurt is thinking is " he wold slap the shit out of Joey and turn him into his bitch" but Joey is a spoiled rich kid. Given everything. 🙂
Reading through the comments, it sounds like we just heard from all the Kurt Bush fans. It's an incident that happened on the track. As a responsible journalist you have to ask those questions. Kurt totally avoided the question. This is not Kurt maturing, this is the same one we've seen throughout his career.
