When I purchased my PC3K from Sweetwater, this sound library was included free, along with KORE 64, controller ribbon & gig bag. This library is amazing. I don't know how Kurzweil can produce such amazing sounds, using such relatively small (almost tiny) files. With the exception of the pianos, (there is simply no comparison) many of the sounds in this library are as good or better, than comparative sounds on my Korg Kronos X & Alesis Fusion. The Kronos is definitely a better, all around, "workstation",. There's no argument there. But the PC3K is possibly a better "sound-station". The sounds you can create with the PC3K, at times seem to be more,....interesting, inspirational & fun. When it comes to the Kronos/PC3K, I wouldn't want to give up 1 for the other. Both are amazing in their own way & I am lucky/fortunate enough to have both/the best of both worlds.
love workstations that allow importing of your own wav or aiff files ... it means you can sample any new synth that comes out , meaning your sounds never get old
I know Kronos owners who have both the PC3K8 and many prefer the PC3K8 over the Kronos. The Kronos pianos are very good and deep, but as far as live controller the PC3K8 (IMHO) is a beast! Also the synths and the libs are awesome. If I had the perfect rig, it would be the PC3K8 and perhaps the Kronos 61 on top. But since I use VST libs and a PC, the PC3K8 makes a great controller. You can layer 32 elements per note! Nothing like it.
Having recently purchased a PC3K, I stand by my October comment. That being said, the PC3K's performance simply can't be measured in megabytes. The piano & some of the other acoustic type sounds still can't compete with the Kronos, but the PC3K has it's own, unique sound. I actually like the guitars on the PC3K, better than the Kronos. As for the synth sounds, Kurzweil lacks true, "analog/physical" modeling, but Kurzweil's V.A.S.T. is capable of producing some extremely realistic, (& awesome!) unique, analog simulation/emulation, which sounds as good (or even better) than any analog modeling synth available. When I first got my PC3K I was anticipating another "workstation", along the lines of the Korg Kronos or Yamaha Motif XF & I was a bit taken aback/disappointed. Admittedly I even contemplated returning it for a Motif XF or Roland V-Synth GT. My God I'm glad I didn't make that mistake!!! After using the PC3K for a couple weeks, I feel completely in love w/it's unique & awesome sound! It's now 1 of my favorite synths. (& I have over 20)
Kurzweil is using 2-32 megabyte electric piano sounds, (just like my 13yo Roland XV-5080) while the Korg Kronos X has 9 gigabytes of piano sounds alone. You can load "many"{ sounds on the PC3K because the sounds are "small". My Kronos X let's my load & stream almost unlimited sounds from it's 60GB solid state drive. The more I read about & hear the PC3K, the more it seems like an awesome keyboard,....for the year 2003. In 2013 it's just outclassed by Korg, Roland & Yamaha flagship keyboards.
Some of these patches sound incredible. Great demo! I'm considering adding this sound set to my PC3K8 very soon. But the one sound I need right now is the synth patch used by the Black Eyed Peas in their song "I Gotta Feeling". It's the sound that begins the song and remains constant almost throughout. It's big, biting and distinctive. My PC2X had a sound called "Atmaz" that was great for this. But the PC3K8 doesn't have anything like it, believe it or not.
Brian Rapoza yep I geting one too I already have a kurtzwell k2500 and k2000v3 I want the new pc4 but I doint like the 88 key layout I'm not a piano player I hope they do come out with a 61 key pc4.
I guess the Integral7 could be used with the PC3K8 aswell and then I would have both sounds from each company and not dulpicate, but could the spuper natural sounds be used in the same way they could be used on a Jupiter 80 since they were made for it inflections etc.
I dont hear more new sounds than i have on my pc3k8 bought in 2015....ive got the Core 64 too...are these banks really new,or alreadu in the new pc3k?...im gonna listen to it again...
What is the sale going to cover now since they have come out with the new KORE 64 for their systems now. Im still looking and looking at the Jupiter 80 but wonder now how much did the KORE 64 system help the Kurzweil PC3K8.
In one of your other little videos (can't locate at the moment), you demonstrated the "Cold Piano" sound. However, someone failed to spell it correctly and it was entered as "Cold Pliano". Odd, eh?
@@sweetwater Hello Daniel Fisher! Is it still possible to buy sounds, patches or samples created by you for Sweetwater for Yamaha Motif XS and also for the Kurzweil 2600?
The piano sound seems very resonant.. Does it contains pedal-resonance samples? Or it's just a reverb effect.. ?!? Could you give some details on the piano sounds included in the library??
The primary difference between the PC3 Series and the PC3K Series is that the PC3K Series has 128MB of Flash RAM for User Samples. No Sample RAM means there's nowhere to store samples. So.... there's no way to make these samples available for the PC3 Series.
It was great video, thanks, which workstation(roland, yamaha, korg, Kurzweil) has most natural/realistic sound for composing music?(new age...) i think roland is first and Kurzweil is the second, please advice me on the brand and model , thanks again
Can anyone give me an idea of what the difference in key weighting is between the PC3K6 and the PC3K7. One says "lightly weighted" and one says "semi-weighted". I'm going to buy one or the other. I prefer a 76 key board but I DO NOT want a weighted "piano feel" keyboard. Can I still get away with buying the PC3K7? Thanks for any help.
For being a musical genius Ray Kurzweil isnt very big on user friendly and appealing hardware. The K2500 series pulled me. Great keyboard, but is seriously outdated. Good thing I have a 200 disc sound library.
Ray doesn't have anything to do with the modern keyboards. He doesn't work for or own 'Kurzweil Music Systems' - which is owned by an Asian Piano company. Google is a great resource to learn who owns what, and what people are up to before this type of comment gets posted with uninformed information. Cheers.
Hi Levi, this library was designed specifically for the Kurzweil PC3K and cannot be guaranteed to work without error on the Forte series keyboards. Thanks for watching!
Kurz has some nice string sounds...but in my humble opinion, their horn patches suck wind. Nice acoustic pianos, and decent Whirlys, but their Rhodes are lacking. I sold my PC2X to buy a Yamaha MX88 and have regretted it. I liked the way the sounds were accessed via Bank and Patch. The MX88 has some outstanding sounds, and woodwinds like Soprano Saz and flutes are dead on...but the string patches aren't all that hot...at least not for my use.
I’ve got Roland, Kurzweil & Yamaha products and definitely conclude Yamaha have nailed the sax / trumpet / woodwind and guitar sounds. But Kurzweil factory orchestrals, and “multis” are unparalleled. Their Mellotron program pretty amazing. Also prefer their pianos. Roland has so many awesome synths and I prefer their EPs, and on my VR70 at least Roland has superb Hammond. As I very rarely turn to brass / wind, I don’t use Yammy very much now ;-)
