Great review! Very knowledgable you are. Purchased a 4Point 9 after a Mikey Fremmer review back in his AnalogPlanet (AbsoluteSound?) days. He also had or still has one mounted to his ridiculous (awesome) Esoteric Grandioso T1 turntable. I've got mine mounted to an old heavily modded VPI HW19 MKIV and couldn't be happier with the performance. Just goes to show, you don't need a crazy expensive TT to hear what a fantastic design Frank Kuzma came up with. The SoundSmith MIMC(star) also appreciates it too.

Kat your knowledge is astounding, excellent explanation of the Kuzma arm. I found out through experimentations that if the VPI uni-pivot arm, especially the earlier models Anti-skate, which a lot of people don’t want to mess with that contraption or it’s string, is set right you don’t get as much of the side to side motion and instability as most complain about and the stylus sits in the groove a-lot more stable, it looks like a regular arm riding the groove. It took a while, but my uni-pivot (pre-3d arm) looks and acts pretty stable. Time to pick your brain Kat, your opinion, which is better the Kuzma 4 point 9 or the VPI Fatboy? Doesn’t the Dr Feickert Woodpecker and up have an option for that 4 point 9 arm or a similar Kuzma and how much of an upgrade will that table and arm be coming from a VPI Classic 1? One last question is the Umami Red, which you own or the Umami Blue a significant upgrade over the ML?

Well done Ms. Ourlain. Question for you: with all the time and effort spent on minimizing friction, does Kuzma specify how many grams of vertical and horizontal friction are present from the tonearm (at the stylus tip)?

You mean here the bearing is like wave meaning not only horizontal, it could be waving like shaking a bit to the down/up left adn right?

Is it better technology than the Dr. Feikert tonearms?

No offense to anyone, but no one can replace the great Kevin Deal.

There's a patent on that bearing they can't do that I've contacted the owner hopefully they get sued
