Ugo my brother you see one thing i like so much about the Igbos in Benue is that they never never deny there identity for one day despite the fact that they are outside southeast they still know where they belongs and they can die defending their Igboness but inthe case of this people it's different. I see you want Nnaa Mhen to come your side i think is a hole waist of time because you Igbos on that side don't need this kind of education because you guys already know where you belong.

My bro you just opened my eyes with this very wonderful interaction with this chief, I myself I used to think that Kwale people are not Igbos before, I used to think that they are like Isoko but through this interaction I have come to clarity that they are our own people. In fact many of us from the east need to travel more to learn about other Igbo outside Southeast, because many of us do not absolutely know much about these our Igbos in the west, I will continue to share your wonderful works bro, God bless you

This is why there was a massive campaign for the construction of the 2nd Niger bridge to open up Igbo land and access to western Igbo communities. The log jam and traffic on the Niger bridge made this task onerous and arduous.

@@anachronistic8246 yeah may agree with you to some extent but I can tell you that there are so many of our people in the east who do not know that there much Igbo land in delta state than the whole Abia state, our issues is just travelling through these land of Igbos by highways 🛣 to the west and north where most of us do businesses and because of that we are completely alienated from our own people and all these now created a wall of petition amongst Igbos of the east and west. Recently I came to learn that there are over 700 Igbo towns and villages in Benue state and the ones in Kogi too

You said it right,👍, most of we the mainland Igbo's don't really know how they feel and most of them too doesn't know how to embrace us as their own family. Like I said in the previous video, we need to organise igbo Day feast that could lead to open doors and kind of symbol of unification with our people in the west coast or South coast of the river Niger. That's my thoughts

Very interesting! I'm from Kwale and I identify 100% as Igbo. There happens to be 2 schools of thought with regards to where we hail from. On the one hand, there are those who argue that we migrated from the old Benin kingdom and then, there's another school of thought that believes we have the same progenitors with the igbos. I belong to the later. I often laugh at my folks who hold on to the belief that we came from the Benin Kingdom. There are no similarities whatsoever between us and the Benin people. However, we have a lot in common with the igbos. The variation in language with the igbos, I would say, is just about 5 - 10%. As a matter of fact, Anambra Igbo is about 99% similar to what I call my language. My cousin is a historian, and I remember him explaining where the belief that we're from Benin stems from. He said it was due to the status that the old Benin Kingdom enjoyed back in the days. That kingdom was really powerful, well developed and stretched far beyond what we see today. So, it was a thing of pride to say you came from there. It's very much like what people do these days, but with America. I'm still waiting for them to come up with a solid argument, but there's been none. I've embraced my igboness with peace. That said, there has to be a re-orientation of the core igbos(south easterners). I've experienced some form of resentment, or should I say, rejection from them. As a matter of fact, they called me a fake Igbo. The experience of some of my folks isn't much different. I'm quite sure it's one of the reasons some ukwani people don't wanna identify with them. With proper education, we'll definitely get past this. We're all brothers. Udo!

My brother don't be bothered about some handful ofpeople dt despisingly look down at u people and call you fake Igbos☺☺ I can humbly say that people with such medieval thought lack basic education and wisdom, and another thing I want to let you know is dt u people from Delta state or other Igbo speaking states from other states is not different from us from Ebonyi State I'm from Ebonyi State diasporean Igbo, living in Germany the Anambra state indigines don't regard us as true Igbos, and first and foremost bc of wealth acquisition and language differences, so for me you people are true Igbos, and there's no truer Igbo than others

The truth is that the kingdom is idu kingdom which is an igbo kingdom but and oba from yoruba came and there is a famous historic war called IDU AND OBA WAR..in that war the oba won and began to rule over the igbos there..for centuries but at a point ,they igbos cant bear it and some of them ran away to many places and now their children are saying they came from that oba thst conquered them...but thsts just because they where under the benin kingdoms..a kingdom is not a tribe..it contains many trubes ...

I'm beginning to think that these Ụkwụanị people migrated from my town in Anambra, most of their words and expressions are exactly the way we say them, the only difference being accent. Where are you going? I jeko ebee? Traditional marriage (igbankwu) We call it "ibu mmanya", that's also what they call it. During his prayer session, some of his words are also what we use. The"mishieagwali"he Said at the end is a borrowed word from urhobo language as a result of their proximity to them. It means"ọgwụla ka ọ ha m n'ọnụ".

@@ndubuisiezeoye2099 , There is really no town called Achala in Ukwuani , but there is Abbi that is fully called Abbi Achela. It is claimed they came from Achalla across the Niger. Most Ukwuani clans have names with appelations that shows their migration story. This chief interviewed here is at Utagba Ogbe aka Kwale. Kwale actually is anglicized Ukwuani. Utagba Ogbe means the Utagba that is the, ''ogbe'', that is the town part of Utagba. Like he said 16miles inland is Utgaba Uno, the Utagba that is home, ''uno'' meaning home. Utagba is a clan of seven towns. Very large towns. Utagba is the largest Ukwuani clan both in population and land area, in its formative time in the distant past; at a time when lizards are in ones and twos, the seven constituent villages met and formed a federation and signed a peace treaty that war should not exist between them. Uta aa agba, let arrows dont be shot. That is how the name Utagba came into being... You see people naming themselves in Igbo thousands of years ago, only for somebody to start telling me in 2023 that we migrated from Benin. i can never accept that.

A good attempt. My comment is on the drawback of using language to determine tribal identify. This will be supported with cited authorities.International Language Services (ILS)(2022) notes that 573 out of 7,000 spoken languages on the planet have become extinct; 8 of them were recorded in Nigeria ( Wikipedia,2022). Implying these 8 tribes now speak the languages of other tribes and also answer their names.Their ancestral languages are now subjects of history. ILS(2022) states that language extinction occurs when a dormant one appears on the scene. Swahili language, native only to coastal Kenya and Tanzania and littoral islands , adopted as official language in 1960,is currently spoken in over 13 counties, with many of their tribal languages at extinction risk due to decreasing speakers .Edo indigenes of Akoko Edo area of the state speak Yoruba and also answer it's names. Responses from few interviewees cannot provide acceptable generalization. In parts of Oshimili North are igala speakers, there are olukumi( Yoruba dialect ?) Speakers in parts of Aniocha north. indigenes of parts of Ika south are oza(Bini dialect) speakers .For more facts visit Google, consult history works done by natives of various cultural groups of Delta North .There is a saying in history study that no one can tell history better thank those that have lived through it .There are also useful papers on the subjects of conversation at the Departments of languages and History of Delta state university ,abraka, universities of Nigeria ,Nsukka, Benin and Ibadan

When you present documents it must also tally with logic to reach a more reasonable conclusion. Language alone is not enough. Yes! A language of a people can be altered but the cultures and traditions most often tells what heritage a people have. Breaking of kola, four market days, carrying of wine, having 'Ikenga' , and many more, are integral aspect of Igbo culture. We might have changed your language but did we change your culture too?

Which one is knocking "on the door"? Say the word in Igbo and translate in English. Don't force it. That way you restore the language. I mean take a look at other places like the Zulus, Yoruba or even Swahili. The speak it profoundly. But don't get me wrong, all I'm trying to say is that those core words that doesn't fit in English should maintain their Igbo names. However Kudos with the Video. It's very informative.

Please, don't make the mistake of calling ukwani poeole as kwale people. Kwale is a town originally called utagba-ogbe town, but was re-named Kwale town by the white men. The poeple are ukwanis who are part of utagba- uno indigenous community of Ukwani People With one daieletes called ukwani. The people cover 3 LOCAL Govt. Areas in Delta state; Ndokwa-west, Ndokwa-East and Ukwani LGAs. We sre Igbos by accenstrial winnings, same culture, traditions with minor variations. Ukwani men prefer to be called Ukwani man in other to preserve the dialetect, but they are Igbos.

We are fully Ukwuani, and identify as Ukwuani, we have similarities in language with the Igbos.....if I may ask, will you say that Urhobo/Isoko, Esan, Etsako and owan is a dialect of Bini? Do you know that Urhobo and Bini speak similar languages? I have a friend who is Bini but understands a little bit of Urhobo because they have similarities.

That's nice to hear the Kwale identify as Igbos. But this Western Igbos and Eastern Igbos with time, we need to stop. You are "Igbo" full stop, this artificial dividing line of using River Niger as a boundary is ridiculous. Our ancestors before the arrival of the Europeans constantly swam, fished and transported themselves to and fro the River Niger and never saw it has a dividing line Just like in Lagos, do Lagosians identify themselves as Mainland Yorubas (i.e. Ikorodu) and Island Yorubas (i.e. Epe) because of the "Lagos Lagoon" that separates them, they identify as "Yorubas" full stop

You miss the point Nna Mehn Is making. He is not trying to convert anybody to Igbo. But you sound very foolish and ignorant when you dissociate yourself from Igbo people and their culture and yet speak a dialect of the Igbo language whether you choose to call it Ukwani or otherwise. It will make more sense if you and other Igbo phobics like you claimed that you borrowed the Igbo language and that your ancestry does not in any way suggest that Igbo lineage. I commend this young man Nna Mehn for his breath of vision and courage in trying to reach out to all Igbo people. Sir, let me remind you that no one and most certainly Igbo people are not looking for converts. May you forever steep in your ignorance.

Nnaa Mehn, you are trying to corner this man to accept not only he is not Igbo, but you are also trying to force him to say the Ikwere man was WRONG! Shame on you, and you could not deceive him to interfere in other cultures by saying the Ikwere man is an Igbo. This Kwale man is not Igbo, they are all EDO/BENIN ANCESTRY! Eat your heart out. This platform is doing these for the IPOB people, looking for those aligning themselves with the Igbos; that is what you are doing. You will fail, of course, you are failing, can't you see?

@@mitchkori I understand you would not know what your history means because in a way, very sorry to say, the assimilation of the Igbo language spoils everything in those areas. However, you need to look very hard at your culture and be inquisitive, ask your elders, the genuine ones about your hereditary and ancestors, etc. You will be surprise! You are not really Igbos, you speak somehow close the their dialect. I cannot drop my phone is this Open space like that, no. It would not make any difference, I can see but not sure that anyone can convince some people in your mix, you are being battered by the IPOB and under their full grip from the eastern part of your location.
