Hi! We worked on one of these for a few hours & even bought a second one because we couldn’t get it. Our issue was although the adapter ring for our door size wise & per the directions, it should have been needed, it was causing the “jammed” issue. We even called the support line & they were just going to send us a new one. Now the app works seamlessly as does the keypad. Hope this saves someone the frustrations we had.
Great Video! Just wondering how is the lock working ~1 year later? Have you had any problems with it and the cold? How frequently do the batteries in it need changing? Thanks!
One more question and a concern..... My front door is metal and I wonder if that will affect its operation (its fine for my "Ring Door Cam"). The concern.... I saw another review on the Kwikset Halo Touch and the reviewer said that if you have a door that is 1 3/8 in thick (as his) then the screws that pull the front assembly to the rear through the door will be too long and he said he had to use spacers inside the assembly of the lock that mounts to the inside of the door. I don't think that will be an issue for me as my door is 1 5/8 in. While the Halo Touch is a slight different design (fingerprint pad on the outside instead of the number pad) I'm thinking the mounting might be the same (in regard to the length of the screws) ? Personally, for my application and having Ring with the ability to remotely talk to someone at the door , I can give the person the number code for their entry making this design more suited for me (then of course changing the code later). Thanks again
I live in an apartment where as maintenance has keys.... I assume that they will be able to continue unlocking with their master key ? I really liked the in depth install and review video.... it was straightforward and looks simple and I'm thinking its something I will get (I also have "Ring" and "Alexa". I just want to make sure that maintenance will still be able to get in. Also wonder if its available in a brass finish? Thanks
Hey Terry. The first thing I’d check is if the current key will work on the new lock. If you have a Kwikset lock now, it probably will. If you can rekey the lock to have the current key open it, maintenance will be able to get in. I’d recommend making sure that they will allow you to replace the deadbolt before doing it though.
This video was extremely helpful. Everything seems to work fine but the front keypad. No lights or noise when pushing any button. I’ve set up my password in the app but still does not work. Any advice?
Thanks for the video, I noticed your door handle also has the same lock, do you not lock it anymore and only depend on the Halo deadbolt now? Wondering because my front door also has a dead bolt and a door handle that use the same key.
Depending on if your handle has the re-key option, you can re-key it to the new key. If there is a small vertical slot by the key hole, you can re-key it. Hope this helps!
So I installed this lock on a Airbnb apartment thinking I would be able to control it remotely (away from Bluetooth). Does it not work remotely? Any setup tips for that if so?
@@aaronfixesstuff Thanks. I just completed installing this lock. Your video really helped! Changed the lock to my original key as well. Thanks. Sucked having the door open while it is 111 here in AZ.
Thanks for your review! How’s the lock holding up? Have you ever had to reset the lock to factory settings at any point? Thinking of getting this lock for a property in another state; and was wondering how reliable it is. Thanks in advance!
Can you open the door and set codes if you are not right next to the door? Suppose you are a landlord in a remote location that wants to open the door for a contractor - does it that work?
@@aaronfixesstuff I have Alexa and after the install of the lock, you then go into the Alexa App and select "Devices" then at the top of the screen you see a icon for all devices, you select "All Devices". From there, you click on the "+" button in the upper right corner. This brings a pop up from the bottom and you select "Add Device". You then scroll down to the available device and choose "Lock". It then prompts for the brand and select "Kwikset Halo". I didn't go any further as I have made the purchase yet..... but that process seems pretty straightforward. Hope that helps
No detailed instructions for this lock that I can find. You have to discover how to use the detailed features by searching the internet for help and I have not found it yet. I want a user guide to operate each feature. Disappointed.
Most people appreciate a video that costs them nothing. Then there are some people like you who just try and find a reason to “make the whole thing a farse”. You are welcome to post a better video, or to hire someone to do it for you…
