yeh, that's like your opinion man. Four stroke sound is just lame, it sounds the same through out the RPM's, just louder. And you can't really hear the power in the sound of it (unless a multicylinder one) Don't get all butthurt over this, it's my opinion I would like to know why you like four stroke more than two stroke
don't you really have any good arguments? The two stroke is superior to the four stroke. If you didn't know, the 2 stroke gives power each revolution of the piston, and 4 stroke only every second.
brandon murphy Honda is like belly buttons.. everyone has one in other news.. my YZ 125 ported and polished has never been passed in any race other than a sand Hill
JamsLife Really? Im curious because I too am looking to buy my first bike soon and i was very settled on buying a kx 250. Do you think it would be okay for a beginner to ride such a powerful bike of i was to take it slow at first??
Yen Yen the 250 is a lot of bike especially a 2 stroke .your weight is a lot for a 125 but you probably should start out on a 200 trail bike. Like a Yamaha TTR
The two stroke was struggling to get traction but the little 250f surprised me a bit. Thought the 2 would have walked out quicker than it did. I’d think on a different surface the story would be quite a bit different. This goes without saying but rider makes more difference than any other variables. Good video✌🏻
Pay attention people lol!!! The 250 2stroke is roosting way harder in 1&2, because its trying to put more power to the ground! It really was coming down to traction! 2 strokes for life!!!!!
I hadn't ridden in 25 yrs. My kids bought me a call 1985 cr125 for fathers day 2020. After getting used to it I blew it up. I'm having to bore it 1mm over. I'm planning on putting Bigger jets put in it and running only 101 octane in it. I haven't it back together yet. I'm excited to see if it's gonna kick ass. I'm 51 yrs old and weak on one side from a stroke. I hope I can ride it.
so the 4 stroke needs a 200cc displacment advantage. Lol. It always erked me the 4 strokes were allowed to complete with such a huge handicap. But they would have never sold the world on the more expensive to build and repair 4 stroke. They just did the same thing car manufactures did. Made something designed to be so costly to repair your better off buying a new one from them. But in fairness the latest batch of 250 4 strokes make more hp than the outdated 250 2 strokes. It doesn't take a fortune to fix that thoe. And the 2 stroke lays it all on the line at once. No nice linear torque to hp curve. You get both at the same time lol
2 strokes ftw but they are harder to drive since all that power comes instantly. 4 strokes are easier to drive since the power is more evenly distributed on both low and high RPM's.
+Tubo Yeah that 250 2 stroke could barely beat the 250 4 stroke, now imagine if that was a kx450f instead of the kx250f the outcome would have been way different!
250 2 stroke has alot bigger engine than 250 4 stroke so if somebody loses to you with 250 2 stroke and you ride 250 4 stroke 250 2 stroke rider fucking sucks. I own 2015 kawasaki kx250f and 2001 honda cr250 and the honda is ALOT faster
Shouldn't be, 2 stroke engines are better than 4 strokes and the AMA is just too afraid to let 2 strokes dominate all because of Yamaha with their yzf400 back in the day
My first bike was a KX250 and I loved it. Sold because I was too young to drive and couldn't take it anywhere 😏. Would I buy one again? Yes definitely.
Great video but lots of ignorance in the comments, so I'll try to clarify. A 250 2 stroke has ports (holes) in the cylinder to somewhere around a third of the way up (depends on the powervalve opening). These ports only allow the engine to compress about 2/3 rds of the engines total volume, around 170 cc. The 2 stroke fires twice as often as the four stroke so 170 x 2 = 340 cc's. Therefore, a supercross 250 2t and a KTM 350 sxf are a good race.
Gotta love 2 strokes. Really though the 250 4s are made to be competitive with a 2 stroke 125 and the 2 stroke 250 is comparable to a the 450 4 strokes.
i dont know how you figure that because my 2015 yz 250 2stroke is putting out stock on the dyno and certificate of origin 51.3hp right next to 2013 yz450 at 50.5 stock i have an sst and turbinecore 2 on and dyno testing showed its now at 54.7 even with 2 teeth taken off the rear sprocket 450s may be higher in horsepower but the weight to horsepower ratio of a 2 stroke makes the 2stroke faster 450s got torque no doubt but im sorry ill take my 250 2stroke all day and spank yall 450s asses everyday of the week like i was on my 85
Jake Parciak my 15 ktm 450 dynod at 62bhp mapped and piped trust me your shitty arse yz aint beating no 450 why do you think no race teams use them anymore
The whole notion of "displacement advantage for 4-strokes" is bogus... Yeah they put 250 2-strokes against 450 4-strokes - which totally gives them an unfair advantage and ultimately put an end to 2-strokes. Ok - its true that 2-strokes make power on every stroke, but people forget that 4-strokes rev higher... a modern 4-stroke can rev to 14,000rpm (just check any good Sporting 600cc machine) vs ~11,000 RPM for the 2-strokers (go look at an RZ-350/RZ-500/RG-500 tachometer)... if you want to be fair, then put a lower rev limit on the 4-strokes... OK with that in mind the 4-strokes still should have a displacement advantage but not DOUBLE... they should get approx a 50% advantage... lets say a 300cc 2-stroke vs a 450 4-stroke would help level the playing field. Same is true in Moto-GP... the 1,000cc bikes crushed the 500cc 2-strokes for the same reasoning... and even a 50% advantage may not be enough with the current level of refinement of 4-strokes... maybe a +40% handicap or ?? I can only imagine how awesome 2-stroke technology would be if they were actively still being developed... 2-stroker for life!
I own and a 2 stroke so and have also owned a 4 stroke and going by what you’re implying they wouldn’t have gotten rid of the 500 class and would have used them against the 450’s in outdoors and supercross.
If you like bikes there should be no comparison between the two. It’s like comparing an F1 car with an LMP1 enduro car or maybe a WRC car. F1 is way way faster fun to ride but if you go go for a LMP1 you can drive more laps hour after hour. I am new in the motor world and I don’t know why ppl hating each other only who’s preferring which bike. I find both very cool if it goes to fun and simplicity I will chose 2s or if I wanna do long distances in the woods I prefer 4s. No hate they are both sick bikes because I love dirt bikes ❤️
Dean W I rode both 2 and 4 strokes. 2 strokes are a lot of fun. But was always breaking. So I’m going back to 4 stroke. Mainly bc its reliable. What did u think of the crf250. I’m planning on getting one.
2strokeINTRUDER What I meant is that the 250's (2 stroke duh) speed is very similar to the 450 one. But the 250f's (4 stroke duh) speed is much slower than the 250 one since it's heavier. If you race the 250 2 stroke against the 450 4 stroke the results will be very close. (Higher chance of the 450 winning tho).
Actually you should compare a 250 to a 250 , the only reason a 450 is faster then a 250 is cause it's almost twice the motor . That's the reason they made 450s so they would have more power then a 250 t
Fair would be 250 vs 250 let the better engine win .Whats unfair is a 125 vs a twice as big 250 or a 250 to a almost twice as big 450 . So a 4 stroke needs to be twice as big to beat a 2 stroke ! So to me that's saying a 2 stroke is almost two times as superior as a 4 stroke !
Hope people know this is why 250 2 strokes aren't allowed to race 250 4 strokes at any big AMA race. They are more comparable to a 450 with it's piston size. 125cc 2 stroke is with the 250f class 250cc 2 stroke is with the 450 class It's in the AMA rule book & why you see stankdog racing a 125cc in the 250 class at supercross. Wowe! The more you know
It is in the FIM/AMA rul;e book so the 4-strokes will out power the 2-srokes so racers have to choose 4-strokes. That was the lock of the plan from the beginning, (and it took 8 years for the national starting lines to turn all 4-strokes). The 250 2-stroke and the 250 4-stroke both make 45-50hp. They should be racing each other.
Thank You for posting , most other channels do not give an honest apple to apple test. I have owned Both and just like the 2-stroke more than the 4-stroke. But the Sound of a 2 stroke with a good pipe brings tears to my eyes.
Michael Littlejohn, they sound like every chainsaw iv ever owned. I like 2 and 4 to be honest but now I ride a 4 just because I'm getting older and I like the low end grunt and torque of the 4 stroke. I like not having to be wide open to make usable low end power to putt up a hill or go through a mud hole. 2 strokes won't putt up a hill, or through a mud hole. It's either raising hell up it or its stalling out.
Honestly way to close for the two stroke to be considered more powerful, the 4 stroke is gonna outlive the 2 stroke 3 times over and clearly isn’t even that much slower so what’s the point in mixing gas and having more maintenance
4 strokes have come a long way but they require constant maintenance and will usually have catastrophic valve train failure! Your better of with a 2 stroke. You’ll have to do a top end every so often with normal maintenance. Much cheaper!
@@theoriginalmungaman Nah u are right to be fair u got more on a 4 stroke bike plus u got your valves and so on so yes 4 stroke is more to it I've been learning on re builds the last few weeks
I love you and your Bros content I'm waiting on my 98 KX250 to come out of the shop with a fixed transmission was having transmission issues watching you guys videos helps me get through LOL
The KX250 Engine done right is a Weapon! I had one with White Brothers Racing Ported Cylinder, Boysen Carbon Reeds, FMF Exhaust, Splitfire sparkplug, Hot Rods Crankshaft, Weisco Shorty piston oversized, Bottom end balanced, Carb jetted, Run on Premium fuel with a Dash of Avgas in the tank it was a Farkinn Animal!!! I had blokes who rode CR500's love the bike! And yes the unmistakable Braaapppppphhhhhh through the bush awesome...
You might as well say it's better to compare a big block to a badass small block. Why not a KXF 450 vs a KX 500?.. Smh. Pound for pound (cc for cc), 2-stroke for the win every time
Its amazing how far the 4 strokes have come...from being extremely gutless in the 70s to close to the performance of the 2 stokes CC to CC. Im a old 2 stroke guy but the modern 4s aren't giving much up other than sound. The 450s are crazy powerful
hello buddy, thank you for your videos it helps me a lot for my 250 kx, I wanted to know, can you help me for a piece that I can not find in France, I'm looking for a secondary gear of the 3em, the reference is 13260-1630 for my engine 250 kx 1998, you are my only hope, after I have more solutions. thanks to you
harp chicken A 4 stroke would outdo a 2 stroke up hills power band would just spin four strokes have more grunt a lot like a diesel truck motor compared to a petroleum motor
@@reverseuniverse2559 hearing that it sounds like you haven't experienced a powerband if the tires have good traction the tires spin and tear up the hills
harp chicken we talking quads now no four stroke any day no overheating problems too can idle up a hill no revving the shit out of it and the motor will out do a 2stroke before a rebuild the list goes on and on
