DL 1 was a horror game with parkour elements(it’s dead island with running and jumping). The game is a lot heavier with its atmosphere and delivery. Night and indoors were legitimately scary. DL 2 is a zombie game with parkour. There’s no real anxiety inducing areas besides the sky high parkour(before you get the glider and grappling hook). They completely bungled the horror aspect, it’s basically gone. The combat is better and worse at the same time, the new leveling system is awful compared to the old one. Volatiles are now an actual threat but only because they soak up a crazy amount of damage, but are somehow less scary than they were before. It’s really weird how the contrast between the two games is with it feeling like a side grade instead of an evolution(like dead island ->DL)
@@alexanderstrickland9036 yeah I get you with the horror thing to an extent I can tell you right now when I first started playing and got night chases and my first gre building scared the hell out of me haha, but the evolution thing makes sense man it's definitely an evolution of the 1st dying light it takes most of the mechanics and stuff and tries to add to them plus other new traversal options that's a sequel , dead island to dying light was going from one ip owned by someone else to creating your own ip with your own ideas and stuff of course that's much bigger difference it's not a sequel to dead island
Fr, I got back to DL1 after finishing DL2 and there is something that I just can’t describe which the 2nd game doesn’t have, it might have to do with the gloomy atmosphere in DL1 compared to the upbeat one in DL2. I wish that Techland just reskinned 1, slapped some new maps and story then called it a day.
i survived a chase without using the grappling hook, i did not use a boost as well, night chase. at nightmare difficulty. no flares and anything. only fists and flashlight. *my heart was pounding fast at that day*
No wonder crane is a legend and aiden a hero, completely different, built different, and just completely utterly amazing in their own, fuck if crane was in dl2 waltz would be dead already
you know when i got to meet sophie first time and her bodyguard had aiden by neck i screamed "man this guy is a pussy fuck Aiden give me Crane , this so called bodygaurd will be in peices if this was crane".
Just bought Dying light 2 / week ago and in love with it. Played it through now new game +( your weapons and skills dont reset) only paraglider/grappling hook. But ill never forget when i roamed the streets and saw night incoming running N shitting my pants as volatiles chased me..
Anyone else feel like there’s just less zombies I the streets and building when free roaming in dl2 than dl1 as well the zombies don’t seem to be as good at charring you in the second one
Dying light 1 had this feeling like you were actually trying to survive. You werent really that safe anywhere outside. The zombies are still something that people dont know that well. In dying light 2 it feels like everybody got over it. Go on a roof and you re safe. It doesnt feel scary or like your actual objective is just to survive the next day. Both games are still really good tho
Idk man, I mean I accidentally dropped down in one of those GRE places during the day in DL2, and I damn near had a heart attack as soon as I saw a volatile waiting for me
i didin't play dl2 yet but i completely relate to the dl1 feeling i use to shit my pants everytime i heard one of those fucking runners behind me just vomiting their fucking existence but guess what that wasn't even the worst part, the worst part is when you're in the dark or in one of those tunnels on the highway with that shitty 2 cents flashlight from wish like dude how the fuck is it possibile that a fucking game scares you that much
Dying Light 2 is admittedly a better game compared to mechanics, but dl1 had that kind of atmosphere, ive played dl1 and dl2 since release date, and i think dl1 have better campaign
Assuming he is a conscious volatile like the Mother after The Following, that’s pretty much what Kyle is. No wonder why they didn’t include him in DL2, he was too OP for the world
@@ExtremeMan10 dl 2 infected is a joke compared to dl 1 infected , Aiden probably couldnt survive that in his young age , dl 1 world is much dangerous than the dl 2 , virals is a fuckin weak in dl 2 too
@@ognjenmaslo3333 aiden is like this superhuman, but that just makes it more impressive for crane, crane literally pulls these things off like a breeze, no drugs, nothing while aiden needs 15 inhibitors just to learn how to roll
@@antisight3042 This. Adien is a superhuman, so it doesn't come to a surprise why he'd be physically above Kyle Crane, who's a regular human being that was trained by the GRE. That makes him more skilled and reliable when it comes to present tense tasks and activities that an average human cannot handle. Not just that, but Aiden's character in the game has a poor narrative. His character is supposed to express confidence and power, but some sceneries show him getting beat up and even terrified. If I were to choose who to handle something, it would be Kyle Crane. There's even an Easter egg in the game where a guy says "You're almost as good as Kyle Crane", indicating that Aiden is still not as good in comparison. Of course, it doesn't make it true, but it's not hard to grasp. Strength and Agility = Aiden Skill and Reliability = Crane
@@GlazerX its a fucking game. If they wanted to they could've made Crane fly. Jesus you people have nothing better to do in your lives. You probably cant explain ti a teacher a certain lesson for a simple C. But you can sure as hell write a god damn essay about a game in comments.
The main difference for me between Dying Light 1 and 2 was in DL1, when being chased by zombies, I felt a sense of dread traversing haran even during the day because if I got chased, it felt and sounded like "Oh god, they're *right* behind me!" In DL2 I never got that feeling.
One of the main reasons is they limited volatiles to dark zones. Even at night you’ll never get chased by one. Those were the real threats at night. Everything else you dealt with, but those things were actually faster than your sprinting speed. So you had to use the advanced movement to escape and Give yourself speed boosts and use the UV Flashlight to slow them enough to be able to escape. Also dying light 1 didn’t have normal zombies be affected by UV. It was just the volatiles hence why they were so powerful
"This guy almost took as long as possible to do this objective. Could not have performed any worse without being considered a failure. Massive respect 🥺"
Crane : *literal parkour Jesus, not afraid of the night* Aiden: *needs a full crate of drugs to learn how to fucking slide while running, slight shadows make him hug UV lamps and pray for the best*
While DL2 has more complexity and interactions with the movement options, it just doesn't flow as well. The gravity seems floaty and some of the climbing just feels jank.
I hate that I agree. While it feels good in flow sometimes. It doesn't have the same intensity of the first when you gain a serious amount of momentum. The first game just hits different - everything is so much more weighty and feels more responsive.
@@iEnjoyiVideos yeah, all the moves seem like they WOULD have a lot of weight, but sometimes the fact that they yank your camera around and have lag-like transitions between them really kills the freerunner vibe.
@@iEnjoyiVideos this perfectly sums up my thoughts on the second. i really don’t think i’m biased when i say i still prefer the game mechanics of the first game to the second game.
100% agree and, what's so much worse for me than that still (which this video actually kinda shows off nicely) is the fact that the trials in DL2 just.. don't flow. There's no smoothness to the routes you take.
I honestly disagree, it flows a lot better in dl2 than in dl1. I had to try both games out just to be sure, and dying light 1 while absolutely amazing in it's own right, it just feels so heavy and basic. The gravity was unrealistically high in the first game which I didn't really notice until I got the feel of the second game. about time trials though I will have to say dying light 1 was just made for them. dl1 time trials are so much better.
The fact that Kyle Crane, a bitten and sickly human, basically keeps up with Aiden, an enhanced human, just says everything about how high of a bar this game created. 💀💀
I remembered the first time I played this game. No clue just did some parkour stuff around the city until the radio automaticly on and said "It's almost night, don't try to be hero find somewhere safe. Good night and good luck" and then a very loud scream comes from nowhere. And everything changed into nightmare.
@@covertgaming1628 bruh, hella years passed since the harran out break, and by the sounds of it most carriers of the harran strain where killed before the newer strain was spread
The one thing they undeniably improved in DL2 was the gameplay, the parkour is exquisite in that game (though some may argue the paraglider kinda deletes a lot of it), but the atmosphere was severely lacking compared to the E3 trailers. Harran felt like a world gone to shit and nowhere was ever truly safe, even in the main survivor building you lose an entire level to a random infection spread whereas in DL2 the only reasonable threat to survivor settlements is other survivors. I guess I wouldn't care too much about DL2 lacking in the atmospheric department if they hadn't done the dumbass timeskip and really short sighted any future development the series may have. With Harran the rest of the world was ok and anything could've happened, with Villedor the only possible stories left are ones that will follow a similar path to it. When you narrow the focus of your scope that much you have to make sure what you deliver is quality, otherwise anything after that will pretty much be the same.
here's hoping in DL3 we get a prequel-sequel. Basically events after Dying Light 1 and Before Dying Light 2. Like, what happened to Crane after the events of the following and how the virus spread real time out of haran to the whole world
maxed out skill trees and the legend skill tree are all from kyle's legend. i see it as you aren't crane, you are being told the story of crane and living through his perspective. the reason why he can run infinitely is because thats the legend about him. the real crane would be level 20 on everything at most
When people still think that "aIdEn CaLdWeLl" is superior to Kyle Crane (The Giga-Chad). Crane was just goated, and this along with many other clips prove that.
Maybe as a volitile Actually he isn't too in control so Kramer has some room there But he even himself has that in the ending of the following by the end of the boss fight
@@Jester4460 Aiden one taps volatiles and demolishers in his turned form lmao. Human form he’s still super human. He has ultra focus that slows down time, ultra reflex’s. Super strength and speed. Sorry. I love crane, but im not blinded by nostalgia. There’s no scenario where crane comes out on top unless he uses guns. Which would be boring. But if they were in the same time period, they’d both have access to guns
@@miketexas4549 blame the niggas that said it was too scary then and them dudes at techland should’ve kept the 2019 e3 atmosphere on the game in the first place
The first was lightning in a bottle. They made that mistake with the sequel that is pretty common in the zombie genre - setting it years after when everybody is used to it all, and not really scared. It happened with The Walking Dead too, over the years it just became a boring soap opera. But cheeky speeding this up by 25% though lol
I wish they utilized the lore they set up. If they made it in villidor but during the fall, that’s be honestly cool. I feel like you could accomplish the same feeling by having the game basically the same and the radio tower being the only way to contact any other civilization. And learning that villidor is all that’s left of civilization and that outside the walls. There’s nothing but infected and small groups of nomads now
I wish DL3 would be at the same time as DL1 happened. Where they're trying to stop the virus from getting into their country and failing miserably. GRE and the government who's the ones protecting them abandoned 'em. left behind to die. The protagonist as a soldier from either GRE or the government didn't like the idea of leaving them behind and choose to save the people, alone. He guided them day by day to reach the safe border. The country is unfortunately bombarded(In DL1 Harran almost faced the same fate. so before those jetts arrived in Harran they bombarded this country first)but the protagonist still clutched and saved the people. they watched as their country get "BOOM!" There will be no map at the end of the game lmao. Just a lil idea.
@@ExtremeMan10 I HOPED FOR THIS THO. Let it take place elsewhere with different survivors or protagonist like like L4D2 after L4D. I hate the time skip plot always.
I remember reading articles about dying light 1 and they were saying how Kyle's character was lame and boring. I remember thinking to myself, was he???? I always thought his character was realistic which made the game realistic along with the atmosphere and so on. Feeling like you was really out there trying to survive is what made dying light. Now I find out from reading these comments that dying light 2 has lost the feeling of the original ☹
I felt he was really well made and followed a path of a government agent who was initially sent in to pretty much fuck everyone over more, realizing his orders were bad and betraying them to help people survive Instead. The GRE never cared about the people and you learn that through Crane. Aiden never really has much relation to the GRE given how long it’s been since tbe fall. I honestly with dying light 2 took place during said fall. Panic would be increased and because it was so close to when the initial infection happened you wouldn’t just get told what works, you’d have to figure it out
double jump? okay now even for techland that's a little unreasonable to just jump off air BUT jumping farther is literally a skill point lol there's like 3 of em
@@jaxo2492 The one where you double press the jump button when jumping over obstacle is called "Double Jump" But in reality he doesn't jump double, he just lounges alot in the air
@@jaxo2492 Waltz literally creates sparks from his hands for no explained reason whatsoever a ACTUAL double jump wouldn't be too out of the question utilizing these same rules.
As much as I like Dying light 2 there's just a feeling that it couldn't capture the same way as dying light 1, although I do think it has the potential to be better then DL1 it's still too early, already Techland has shown they're dedicated to making dying light 2 amazing so there's still hope for it to reach it's full potential I hated how safe the night time felt, but with new game plus and them adding more to night it genuinely feels like I'm in danger when I'm playing at night, obviously volatiles are a big part of it, but chargers, banshees, elemental goons and all that add to the game As for parkor I do agree it feels like it doesn't have much weight to it (mainly with how high you can jump) but I feel like that can be fixed pretty easily and even if it's not I don't mind it that much Combat mechanics are much better, But at the same time ISS worse. Then dying light 1. The combat feels too smooth at least in in the way you just swing your weapon and they don't react at all, OR they go flying for no reason (mainly with one handed weapons but also some of the 2 handed, the knuckle weapons feel nice imo and it actually feels like your hitting something) where like in dying light 1 sometimes your weapon would hit the side of the zombie and and almost like rebound and n you'd have to hit it again more like hitting a tree with an axe, although it was a small detail it really gave more of a feeling that you're actually hitting something I'm a big atmosphere and immersion guy and I don't believe DL2 will ever be as immersive or capture the same atmosphere as the first game (at least in the main game, the DLC are an entirely different thing) Last thing that makes me upset in DL2 is you can't cut people in half from the head down, you can still cut off heads, arms, legs, and cut then in half from their top and bottom but my favorite was hitting the perfect hit where you would cut them in half from their head down
You expect pilgrim in post apocalyptic world where you can die anytime to be trained to survive. The fact Aiden cant even climb some basic stuff for a PILGRIM who travels around the world when renegades, basic thugs CAN really tells you Aiden is a sore loser.
This game aged so well, as soon as I can beat DL two, because I’ve been taking my sweet time- I’m definitely coming back to this game, literally looks almost same if not darker, don’t get me wrong I love the second one the first one just left you with a sense of being completely alone,The new one there’s people out and about and feels like you’re a part of like a group And that’s awesome actually because you get to interact but in a sense that first game left you with that sense that at night you’re all by yourself, and I love the airdrops they need to bring that back in someway maybe in a DLC and dying light two, that n a vehicle🙏🤞🍀
It wouldn't really make any sense if they brought back the airdrops cuz the Army is gone so if they were to bring that back how would they do it if the Army is gone completely
@@anthonybruno3183 but the military dropping them was their reason behind why. There are air drops in DL2 you could find on top of buildings and stuff that have some great loot
That starting sequence just turned my fight or flight with how much challenges I used to play before. Whenever the parkour is that intense it feels like a fever dream and I solely rely on muscle memory to finish it
Dying light 1 was darker and scarier then dying light 2. If they just made volatiles actually hunt you down and spawn all around at night like they did with the first then it would’ve been just as good.
Yeah ngl. That is the only thing that really always bothered me. It slows down the gameplay so fucking much. You start to find ways to avoid those climbing animations lmao
Dying light 2 fully improved upon the gameplay of dl1 that's a fact, but they completely failed the atmosphere and zombie aspect of the game, that's such a shame. Villedore doesn't feel like the last standing city on earth because of how colorful it is, and the city itself is so dead compared to dl1 where there were hordes of zombies on the street, and it was crucial to be able to traverse via rooftops because the biters were actually dangerous when they had numbers, while dl2 you gotta be lucky to find at least a pack of 14 zombies in one place, and then don't get me started how they butchered the night aspect and volatiles.
i loved this challenge i did it just the other day when i was trying to finish them all but idk why you dropped to the street at that part shit wasted more time
dl2 is just soo advanced and amazing but dl1 is unbeatable for me tbh, you can't change my mind about this being the best game, a lot of times actually people like more basic games than the advanced ones
lowkey DL2 feels like a quest and loot simulator... I miss DL1 mechanics because of it's simplicity, but we can all agree it wasn't perfect. The grapple hook pretty much canceled out a lot of parkour like the paraglider does in DL2. All I'm really wanting from DL2 is a pvp. That's honestly one of the main reasons I've been playing DL1 since they added it. I don't see anything wrong with what they're doing with DL2, there's still so much more to come
People keep saying that I’m dying light 2 you feel too powerful but in dying light this dude crane is running around the map like he’s a straight up god lol. People just love complaining even if it doesn’t make sense. Dying light was far easier to play than 2. Enemies are 3 times as weak in this game compared to the second and you move so much fucking faster in the original than the second. Yes they made the night not as pitch black which was a little odd to me but in return they made it more difficult to sneak around with a bunch of howlers around and volatiles being significantly stronger than in the original. Overall the second game improved objectively in most ways. Y’all that are complaining just didn’t get basically a copy of the original so you resort to whining about it rather than adjusting to the slight differences in the game lol.
i love both games a lot but dying light 1 had that very scary atmosphere because the virus was new and you didnt really know what it was capable of in the start and the zombies could easily jumpscare you if you didnt expect it
I bought this game to coop with my friend, never regretted it, best gaming experience i ever had. Coop in a post apo world with a virus we barely know something about. I remember those times where we were jumpscaring each other in night time or when we were being chased both of us and it was like in the movies "follow me! I know a place !" Or when he made noise and blocked me outside to prank me... Good old days, don't know how much i would give to re live them again. Those Times where we were affrayed by the great bridge lol. Funny days.
@@brah9249 crane got really lucky the whole game, there were no sharp rusty knives or broken glass bottles in the trash bags (he actually mentions it too, somewhere near the end of the story)
Running with the bow infront of him is fucking stupid. Dying Light 2 could be as bad as people think but its still better than this. I cant stand how stupid it looks having the bow drawn in front of him while running and jumping like that. Dying Light 2 is just better when it comes to the stuff that matters. You know... The cool stuff...
Dying Light 2 was such a dissapointment in my eyes. As much as it is nearly the same game, and the parkour is a bit better. The story in Dying Light 1, even though not that special, i still bothered with it. I've replayed Dying Light and it's DLC so many times already and it stays fun. I can't really imagine myself playing Dying Light 2 over and over, the story is boring as hell. And that game is all about "Making choices" that change things dramatically... No it does not really. It's just an A or B choice thing which games already had since forever. Also the night time exploring, why put everything behind needing enough UV light not to become a infected. All kinds of weird decisions. I'd stick with og DL. Night time xploring for double the exp was great.
Does the bow out effect the speed? Did you take any boosters? I'm glad I was around to experience the peak of this game. Definitely defined the generation for my and is in my top 10 of all time. If they ever decide to remaster this game I'm for it in the next 10-15 years because since 2015 it hasn't aged a day. There's just an emotion of excitement and fear of the unknown you get on the first playthrough early to mid game I've felt in very few survival horror games. The fear of the unknown and the anticipation it brings. My first night was like a caveman walking out of a cave for the first time until I realised the day-night-cycle hadn't fully activated on the mission.
He is doing the parkour challenge that gives you boost in speed everytime you perform and parkour action (climb, vault, roll etc.) and make you faster, up to 2x faster.
I enjoy dying light 2, only a couple trophies off of my platinum for it. Is it crazy that I still prefer d1 over it though? The soundtrack and the atmosphere tops everything I enjoyed about d2. Just watching this makes me want to hop back into it... 🤷🏽♂️

You're thinking of Brecken, according to crane himself the closest he ever came to doing parkour before the events of dying light was running track in highschool
@@collinp.9891 I stand corrected. However, Crane was taught by an actual parkour instructor, and had a track/military background. Aiden had no such prior training and was only taught by Hakon. It's definitely a given that Crane should be better.

if DL1 wasn't such a dogshit on laptops I'd played it, DL2 is more optimized i got like 60fps average with my budget gaming laptop. but in DL1 i got 35 dropping to 15 fps
I had to look this up, as I don't believe I ever got the Kuai Dagger. From the DL wiki: "A knife with special effect, boosting your parkour speed. Similar to the effect you receive while playing Parkour Fever challenges." Looks like you get a similar effect whenever doing Parkour Fever, dagger equipped or no.
As the dude said, whenever you're doing these parkour challenges you get the parkour speed effect, the Kuai dagger just lets that happen in normal open world gameplay
Second game needs an area like the bridge or courtyards in the second map of dl1, where there's literally hundreds of zombies in one area, have the street actually get flooded at night by zombies, the glider took a lot of the stress away from chases cuz you can just fly away
in the end game of dying light 1 it wasn't scary at all you had a gun that could 4 shot volatiles and then you had melee weapons that could two shot them and this was something dl1 was missing it was missing it's...spook in the end game but it had alot more parkour and was more fun dl2 was more realistic in a sense the grapple hook no longer flung you up a skyscraper instead it just brings you up a bit (although there is a bug that still allows you to spam the grapple and climb skyscrapers) it's also a lot more scarier since you don't have guns and melee weapons don't do a crazy amount of dmg the story was good too but the whole time of playing dl2 it was....missing something i still can't put my foot on it but it's missing something that leaves a void in me
Both games are fantastic but for me, the parkour in the first game feels so much more clicky and snappy. With DL2, like many others have said, there is this level of floatiness and jank that I feel comes from the multitude of parkour abilities all staking on each other the more you progress and, on an average traversal through the city, they are skills you normally wouldn’t utilize and sometimes get in the way. With DL1, there were similar skills but they never really got in the way (other than the dreaded wall climb at times). Either way, both are wonderful. Just my two cents.
@@malekhekal4238 it's not nostalgia it's the facts. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean they aren't present. DL2 needs many years to be on par and eventually surpass DL1.
I've played both Dying Light 1 and 2 a bunch and I see so many people say Dying Light 2 has better mechanics when if really doesn't, I wouldn't say they're worse but in my opinion they kinda are. I feel Dying Light 1 has better mechanics for parkour, and it's not as common where you're trying to jump but then dodge off the side of a damn building.
Imagine if they just transplanted the soubd from this game into the sequel. Still a let down the sequel but not a bad game. Just cant match its big brother.
