Tami Stronach on The NeverEnding Story, The Childlike Empress, & Returning to Acting
The NeverEnding Story’s Childlike Empress, Tami Stronach, and her husband, actor/producer Greg Steinbruner, joins Kyle Meredith to talk about the film Man and Witch: The Dance of a Thousand Steps, which tells the story of a lonely goatherd who discovers that he has been cursed at birth to never take a wife before having to make a bargain with a reclusive witch to reverse the spell. The family fantasy marks Stronach’s first role since her iconic turn in the 1984 classic and the two tell us how the idea of her comeback was hatched after seeing the renewed interest once Stranger Things used the movie’s title track in its third season, as well as writing the script that included easter eggs of The Labyrinth and Monty Python, and a chili bowl hair. Stronach also dishes on the public’s fascination with seeing child stars grow up, coming up with the big dance scene, and the incredible luck of all of this being released during the promotion of the 40th anniversary of The NeverEnding Story, as well as their plans to possibly create more within this new universe.
